A good find for preconcert meal. Good well priced fixed menu if there before 18-00. Wine nice and not ridiculously expensive.
The entrance bar was a bit noisy but the restaurant quieter so I could hear conversation. Staff were friendly and attentive . There is a fairly casual ambience which led me, mistakenly, not to expect too much of the food. I was wrong! The cheese soufflé was delicious and the hake cooked to perfection - moist and succulent. Top notch dining. The women's loo was a bit messy ( some paper towels on floor)and could perhaps do with staff check ups - but it was a busy Friday. Would definitely recommend Brasserie.
A pleasant environment and good service. The prix fixe menu had plenty of choice at reasonable prices for London - I would come here again
Perfect for pre National Theatre dinner. Service was great and food just right and good value for fixed price option.
Just okay really. Nothing special. Nothing awful.
Nice Friday evening with friends - the chat and the rose were more important than the food? ! Steak frites a little fatty for my liking.
We were a party of 9 and time was tight due to trains but the staff were very flexible and helpful and we all got served promptly with no apparent trade off in food quality. The steaks were praised and the bouillabaisse was especially delicious. Decent wines at reasonable mark up
It was my partners birthday and we arrived around 5.45 pm for an early dinner. My partner asked for a G&T and some olives. Unfortunately there must have been a big rush on olives as they weren't available. Would peanuts do? Okay peanuts it will have to be! The waitress delivered the peanuts and no sooner had she done so the starters turned up, so no time to relax with an aperitif then. Next up was the main course and we were fussed over by a trainee waitress. My partner managed to order a drink but unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to get my order in as she rushed off to work out what a house wine was. I had to wait until I caught the eye of the other waitress. Next up the desert, not followed by coffee but all served together. If this place was a canteen then I can understand why service would be rushed but at the prices this place charges there are better restaurants around providing a far better eating experience. Saying all that the food was good but in all honesty I couldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.
went to brasserie southbank for the first time, service was excellent, great food, good cocktails!
Perfect cheese soufflé and anchovy butter, ideal summer dining
Enjoyed our meal here with friends - nice walk along the Southbank before dinner. Able to converse easily - no music - a plus!
Our waitress was both friendly and efficient without being intrusive. The food overall was excellent - though I did find my steak a little on the tough side. But the frites were very good! Desserts were delicious and I would definitely go back again.
On the minus side - the restaurant was a little on the dark side - rather sombre decor.
Overall a good meal - and though a chain restaurant it's a good one providing value for money.
Excellente cuisine. Cadre agréable, un seul bémol la salle un peu bruyante. Le service a été efficace mais nous avions été mieux accueillis, plus chaleureusement, dans d'autres Brasserie Blanc.
I received an email 6 hrs before my reservation stating my reservation for 8 ppl was cancelled. No explanation or call from the restaurant. We spent our money elsewhere.
Fabulous service & food. Nice quiet restaurant on a Sunday. Brilliant time
Another excellent evening - food and service up to their usual very high standard. We had a great time.
Delicious meal. Great menu and specials. Staff very friendly.
I held my birthday party here, and everything was so perfect and wonderful I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! Service was amazing and the food was deliscious, they really looked after us and made me feel like royalty! Thank you so much xxx
The arrangement of tables made an evening of catching up quite calm, in spite of the presence of several large parties in the dining room.
The service was pleasant but disinterested. Pacing of food was poor. Two of our main courses came 5 mins after the other two.
The menu was promising (English accented French Bistro's classics), but the results were very patchy. The Potted Crab was blah; the salad was undressed; modules et frites was badly overlooked and the broth bland. Vegetables were overcooked. How is it possible in May in London to produce tasteless young potatoes?
We have visited the Covent Garden branch before which was much better. This was very disappointing.
The deserts were all dry and tasteless. Not worth the calories...and the pavlova at the next table was being attacked by it's diners as if it was a demolition project. Not good.
Finally, it took 10 mins to get a server's attention for a bill
The management at this branch must be superb: all the staff are well trained to be efficient and discreet, they know their stuff and yet retain individual personalities. Our meal was splendid: delicious potted crab and trout gravadlax followed by succulent moules and a plate of aromatic roast suckling pig with flesh as soft as fudge. When we arrived the place was full of diners enjoying themselves but we were given a quiet table where we could converse easily and at leisure. A very fine evening out.
They were so so nice. My partner was late with an hour and they kept her plate warm and even offered to not charge for her meal. Certainly going above expectations on service.
A very pleasing all round experience. A convenient venue with good food and service.
Perfect for pre-theatre. Classy place. Good value set menu. Good service. Near Waterloo and the South Bank.
Food service & value at lunchtime with the Prix Fixe menu very good
As my visit was also for a business meeting it's good that there are tables not too close together offering some privacy of conversation
The restaurant had a nice relaxed ambience with very professional but unobtrusive service.
The menu is good and reasonably priced for London
This was a very convenient place for dinner before a show at the National Theatre. The pre-theatre menu was very pleasant, if not outstanding, and it was reasonable value for money. My only problem was that they charged a 2 pound supplement on the fixed price for the steak. This was written on the menu in the tiniest writing, so tiny I could barely see it and so didn't notice it. The waitress should have pointed out there was a supplement. And I didn't think it was worth it as the steak was very thin and small, though delicious. Also, I think we should not have been charged because the dish I wanted to choose was off and the choice of alternatives was very limited. I would recommend the restaurant, but they should make the menu clearer.
Very welcoming especially as I was temporarily in a wheelchair. Top quality food and wine all reasonably priced.
A very enjoyable roast dinner with good, friendly service. The food was well-presented and tasty. A relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant, which wasn't too busy. An ideal venue for a pre-concert lunch.
The main course was excellent. However the pistachio souffle dessert was burnt and tasted like scrambled egg. This was a real shame as I have had this many times and is my favourite dessert of all time. The waitress actually apologised before she put it down, so it should never have been served.
Beautifully cooked food, service and choice on menu. Close to National theatre. Would recommend.
For a pre theatre supper in or around The Southbank it's hits the mark

Very good location for a meal prior to cultural activities on the South Bank or before travelling out of Waterloo & I have done both in the last couple of weeks. The pre theatre menu looks well priced but I have not had it - dined with my wife & daughter & the meal was very good ( two rock lobster & one scallops which were excellent) followed by two very good shared desserts. The lobster had obviously hit the button as my wife had it again on our second visit, while I had an excellent burger before going to a play at the National. Varied wine list to meet a selection of pockets. The service is wonderful - attentive but discreet.Having found it, I think we will become regulars.
Having a casual lunch with old friends so we weren't looking for anything grand from the lunchtime menu. Even so, this was really very disappointing. First courses were perfectly ok but the mains were worse than indifferent; all three steaks tough and not cooked as requested. Most of the wines were definitely on the pricey side for what they were. Unenthusiastic service, windowless room. Our guests, wine producers and restaurateurs themselves had expected more from the blanc name. All in all, really should do better
Welcoming, cosy, contemporary restaurant. Nicely laid out and has small bar tables for a pre dinner drink. Could not fault the service and well timed delivery of food, 12.5% is added to your bill for this. Wild boar main was exceptional. Starter of green papaya salad had miniscal amount of papaya and when quiried this the waitress recognised there was little and brought me a bowl of sliced papaya. Soufflés were delightful. We definitely will return to sample more of the menu. It is hidden away just off the Southbank but perfect distance if you take a train from Waterloo. Our only disappointment was that they had run out of moules by 7.30pm on a Saturday night!
Depending on what time you come, you may have a very different experience. I came slightly before the pre-theatre rush. My food and service was well done and prompt. The table beside me had a much different experience unfortunately.
Cosy restaurant and great for South Bank amenities, well executed and presented food with changing daily specials on the board. Amiable service.
Big range of tasty food, some traditional, some more adventurous. Very friendly accomodating staff. Great atmosphere for both casual meal or special occasion.
Superb food, excellent service and friendly staff. very impressed and will definitely return.

There are few reliable eating options on the South Bank but BB is one of them with a good atmosphere and a competitively priced early fixed, good service and tasty dishes, perfectly placed for the RFH and National.
Great location for pre/post theatre at South Bank. Feels spacious and open. Wild boar steak was excellent.
