Balbirnie House #BrasserieDeluxe @ The Orangery - individually priced dishes!Truly wonderful value, such fabulous affordability, and a beautiful backdrop for socialising with family and friends.

The Orangery offers classic Scotland on a plate, and has become one of Fife’s most special destination restaurants. Sumptuously decorated in shades of silver, copper and chocolate, with floor to ceiling lunette windows and a glass roof ceiling, The Orangery offers a delightful meal whatever the occasion of your visit. Classic contemporary with service very much relaxed and informal.

We had to send back our cod fish dish which was under cooked and the potatoes were greasy. The starters were very nice and the ribeye steak was perfect. The service was very good and the staff very friendly. The menu was very restricted with a very limited choice. In conclusion it was a disappointment as I expected the menu to have more choice not to be the same as the Bistro ie burgers.

We had come as 4 to celebrate separate anniversaries as we do every June. This year though I felt the service was poor. Also my husbands meal was served with cold fries! No one to ask to sort the problem as it appears you had too few staff on to cover the tables that evening. Bit disappointed

The menu options were not to our liking, particularly the starters. What we did order was very disappointing. We have been before and really enjoyed the food. We still enjoyed the occasion but unfortunately we found the food poor.

Wonderful evening with my partner for his birthday. There was a wedding taking place at the same time however we had excellent service all evening and with the doors to the orangery closed, it was very peaceful! The staff were very friendly and polite and brought out a lovely happy birthday decorated pudding at the end of the meal. The food was fantastic and good value for money.

We had two French people with us and they loved the place and the food only two remarks negative made - all the mussels were not open and the pinot grigio was bland. I had the cod and it was delicious along with fritters which I have not had for years. All in all a good night.

First class venue with good food and good value. Pleasant atmosphere and very helpful and courteous staff. Staff make a place and your staff certainly do. Love going to Balbirnie and this hasn't changed from day one although we miss the wee snacks and the big room that used to be the experience when visiting Balbirnie.

First time for me altho the missus has been to loads of do’s and lunches etc. Reception warm freindly and hospitable. Pre dinner drink in the loounge bar area was warming and relaxing. Well looked after by the young barman and the concierge. Dining room was spacious, pleasant. A little bit bland (or is that just my aging eyes) and maybe some soft background piped (not my loved BPipes) but stirring classical music . Food was very good and excellent value for money. We were both satisfied with just two dishes each such was the volume, so the sweet was missed, but this allowed for a greater 1/3 half in front of the roasting fire in the lounge bar with a coffee and very reasonably priced double 12 year old malt. A Hilarious couple and another equally sociable couple made the evening very amusing. The bar setting is great as is the rest of the aged building. Thank you very much for a great evening, the Missus’s birthday dinner; im back in the good books for now. Have booked for my 60th in about 3 weeks time.

Good quality of food and a pleasant ambience. However slightly put off by several waiting staff standing at door staring over, as soon as we put cutlery down they were upon us. Perhaps too efficient ?

Balbirnie used to have a lovely night time set menu with 3 or 4 choices for each course. It still has a great setting but menu now more burgers and bistro/pub food. Such a shame as no longer a special occasion venue. They already have a bistro so don’t understand the menu change.
The staff were very pleasant but service was slow and not attentive. We asked for more water 3 times high never came. It took 25 minutes for a drink and food order to be taken on arrival. We also asked to go back to the lounge for coffee and after waiting 30 minutes left. There was a wedding on so staff may have been stretched. I would go back to Balbirnie but will stick with the bistro from now on.

Excellent food. My wife enjoyed her mussels in chilli and coconut sauce for a starter. I ordered the ribeye which was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Portions were fine and we shared a dessert and cocktail. Would highly recommend.

Book at last minute to meet up with friends who were in the area. We all really enjoyed the ambience and the food. We all had 3 courses and wine, everything was faultless. The only negative was a long wait to order dessert, the restaurant wasn't busy but there was a wedding party in the hotel. Will certainly be going back.

Although overall a pleasant evening, with reasonable food (menu doesn't change and not quite "fine dining" as the Orangery used to be; sadly the service was very slow. Main reason was probably that a wedding party was being looked after at the same time as the Dining Room was completely full. We arrived at 7.00pm for a 7.15 reservation. Did not get any drinks or see the menu for a good hour. Eventually was served Starter course around 8.30. Only had two courses, no desserts, no coffee, but still only finished at around 10.00 pm.

My family and I are regular visitors to the the Orangery at The Balbirnie for many years, however on this recent visit, the service and the finesse had become not as important.

When I arrived we were not guided to the sitting-room/bar as usual, there was no offer to take my coat and we were not offered a wine list when we were sat down in the Orangery. The food was nice, although the Mushroom tart as a starter lacked flavour.

In my opinion the service and the star quality The Balbirnie has to is guests within the Orangery greatly reduced.

Good food and service in the restaurant, but poor table service in the lounge, twice we had to go up for our own drinks, a hotel of that standard should have good table service, very poor.

The food was excellently presented and tasted amazing.
We had several waitresses instead of one personal one and some where better than others.
When it was time for after dinner coffee we got forgotten about and had to go looking for a waitress as no one was about.
It was like you've had your meal ....goodbye.

A very nice experience for our Golden Wedding Anniversary ! We appreciated the plate with strawberry tarts and celebratory message served with our coffee - thank you for this nice touch.
The only downside was that the Orangery was cool, it was a particularly cold evening and there appeared to be no heating in this area. Nice gas fire in the lounge was appreciated.

My Wife and I had a lovely time at the Balbirnie Orangery on the 22/9/18, it was my Wife's Birthday treat and the evening was relaxed, the food and wine we chose was very nicely presented and full of flavour. The Orangery has warm welcome with crisp white table clothes, making the dining experience an real treat.
