Having heard good things about the restaurant I booked a table for my wife and I. We were not disappointed. The place has a really pleasant but casual feel and the decor very warm and welcoming. The menu was also excellent with us both struggling to choose a favourite from all the great sounding options. When the food arrived it certainly lived up to our expectations.
I think we’ve found a new favourite place to eat!
Our visit was to celebrate my aunts 90th birthday. I can’t thank the staff highly enough for making the afternoon so enjoyable. We had a delicious afternoon tea, the sandwiches, scones and pastries were exceptional! With the added choice of champagne or prossecco to make our tea extra special. The staff were outstanding with their service, nothing was too much trouble. My aunt had a lovely afternoon with the added bonus of a surprise piece of cake on a decorated platter saying happy birthday!
We went for a birthday lunch 2 courses (we chose starter & main) for a reasonable amount per head bill for 2 including some wine came to £88 & one of the mains were a very tasty fillet steak dish priced at £33 so I think good value for money if opting for the lunchtime menu and would look lovely in the evening for a special occasion. The Bar area was large so you could enjoy a cocktail (or 2) with friends/ family before and after the meal not sure if they have live music in the evenings (which would be nice) as was a lunchtime visit! Noticed there were a menu for afternoon teas which I think were served in a conservatory room. Plenty of parking!
Terrible service and terrible food well overpriced
Beautiful food and very attentive staff. The garden is a bit fussy (lots of old fashioned garden statues) which didn't match the smart and modern interior. A bit of a drive for us but well worth it. Will definitely return.
Had a lovely lunch for my husbands birthday together with mother's day. All three courses were divine and can't wait to go again soon. Highly recommended!
first time at this restaurant but certainly wont be the last , lovely place superb food staff were great definitely recommend 👍
Lovely place, took my mum and dad for afternoon tea, the staff were very attentive, I had requested a vegetarian high tea and although this had been missed the staff made extra veggie sandwiches with no fuss, they also found some Soya milk for me.
Good decor and scenery, need to be a bit more geared toward vegetarians vegans, dairy free etc.
This was our first visit. We took the early evening discount option. It is easy to get to and park. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and invited to sit by the log burner with a menu and drink. There was no hassle. We ordered from our comfortable bar seats before being taken through to the Orangie seating. The starters were brought through promptly. We were not rushed. All of the food was hot, exceptional quality and served by friendly staff. Even without the early evening discount it would still have been good value. Without a doubt we will return and I have no problem recommending this restaurant.
Lovely meal, good atmosphere and very friendly, attentive staff. Would highly recommend.
Monday lunch- not many clients in the restaurant- still the attention to detail was perfect for a quiet get together with friends. Charming hostess who was very pleasant and attentive.
Lovely new restaurant with loads of parking, unfortunately downhill from here - service was very slow we had to chase drink orders twice, food wasn’t great but was very expensive - I won’t be returning
Excellent. Our favourite restaurant! We had a lovely meal would definitely recommend. We love this place we come every week if we can. Service, food and drink outstanding.
It was for Valentines, the food was excellent but could have done with some vegetables
We have been to Le Benaix before and enjoyed the a la carte menu, good selection of wines and the excellent service. For Valentine's Day l booked, for convenience, via OpenTable. I was surprised when the restaurant phoned for a £75 deposit. I trust them not to poison me, l would hope they would trust me to turn up! It came as a great shock on 14th Feb when, after 20 mins of struggling, the nature of this 'special menu' was revealed. Two compulsory starters (my wife is demi-veggie hence only had one), sorbet (OK), fish course (OK but our table neighbours hate fish), a reasonable choice of Venison, Steak and Fish for mains, mandatory desert/coffee. (good). Luckily my wife likes fish - a vegan could have stared at an empty plate all night.
Dear Le Benaix - your experiment did not work. Perhaps l should have examined the fine print when booking but we expected a normal(ish) menu (it's really good, why heart things up?), maybe it should have included an inclusive glass of bubbles. Forcing people to eat (or leave because of strong personal preferences) courses, is not clever.
The service was good, our server did have to explain the menu (and many others were asking or confused). Lovely Ella, who was confined to the kitchen all night except to say goodbye, seemed upset but that may have been for another reason. The rose given on departure might have been better received on arrival. Perhaps we could have eaten the petals!!
Suggestion, make the tip truly a choice - don't just add it to the bill.
On this occasion l rate 5/10 overall, a far cry from the 9/10 usually earned by Le Benaix.
Food was delicious and staff very friendly and helpful.
Had an enjoyable 5 course Valentine lunch !
Will definitely go back.
First time I had visited Le Benaix. I was impressed by a professional welcome, comfortable surroundings and good food. On the expensive side but good for a special occasion.
Staff were friendly and welcoming, good drinks menu and the food was very good. Overall impressed
Fantastic service and excellent food
Brilliant as usual. The staff are exceptional, very attentive.
The Food and Cocktails amazing.
But I am hesitant in advertising it as too many customers may spoil the ambiance.
The restaurant is quiet and although the service is good and the staff were nice, it was slow for a quick lunch. The decor and ambience felt old fashioned and the food was pleasant but the portions were small. £33 for a bottle of prosecco is not acceptable.
This was our first visit and we found it to be very comfortable. The service was good and the staff very polite. The menu was varied allowing for most tastes and requirements. The food itself was very nicely presented and was cooked to perfection. The added magician, who was very inconspicuous, was very entertaining, a nice touch. The only slight improvement I could suggest is to serve the cauliflower cheese and the extra gravy, that we had to ask for, at the same time as our main, as they were served a few too many minutes after our mainbut it’s not a complaint, just an observation.
We will definitely be visiting again.
Lovely food. Fabulous staff they were brilliant with the children. Very relaxing atmosphere.
My favourite place to eat. So much flavour in the food. Well done to the chefs xxx
Whilst the quality of food was of a high standard we felt the services fell below that expected of a fine dining type restaurant. There was also a real lack of ambiance, which I brought up with the Manager just prior to leaving, when asked if we had enjoyed the evening. Following which music began playing throughout the restaurant / bar area. This place is crying out for piano player / harpist etc or soft background music playing whilst dining to improve the atmosphere.
Great venue. Food wad very good but portions were on small side. Service left something to be desired. Vegatables order were served long after meal was finished. One dessert was forgotten completly.
I am hoping this was an off day and will try again.
Excellent on a cold and wet Sunday .
Food was very tasty although pork a little underdone for our tastes
Beautiful venue and impeccable service but the food was disappointing. Roast beef was fatty, tough and tasteless, risotto was bland. Soup and deserts were fine.
Food needs to catch up with the decor and the service to call itself a fine dining restaurant. Just my opinion though. My partner thought it was ok.
The food was superb as always, but unfortunately the service was awful on this occasion. I have been to the restaurant a number of times before and the service has been amazing.
Unfortunely this time, we had to ask more than twice where our drinks were after waiting about 20/25 minutes. We ordered a bottle of champagne that we had to serve ourselves on a number of occasions whilst the waiter watched. Cutlery was missing from our tables from our deserts and it took so long to come that our hot desserts were then cold.
I’ve been once before this and have had delicious food, and great service on both occasions. We were catching up with friends and therefore ended up staying for 4.5 hours. There was no rush to leave or vacate the table for someone else. We stayed until close. One of the party was vegetarian, and they did their best to accommodate with a separate menu of options. Am looking forward to my next visit to Le Benaix.
Our party of six had a lovely evening meal. The service & food were both superb. The staff were very kind, on realising it was my grand daughters birthday they surprised her with a specially presented birthday desert.
Every lunch I've had with friends at Le Benaix has been an extremely memorable occasion as it has a wonderful ambience and excellent menu. Staff members extremely well trained and provide a professional and unobtrusive service.
Very good as always, good food and attentive service. Thank you.
Perfect New Year's Eve meal
Love the staff at le benaix - brilliant front of house staff. friendly professional cosy restaurant
We were greeted with courtecy and a smile, offered pre meal drinks and shown to a table to view the menu. The food was prepared and tasted superb, it was served with a smile and a great deal of professionalism which made the whole new years eve experience one to remember
Lovely food however we was left without a drink for half hour when we got there. Overall experience was great though except a little dry to start.
We booked the restaurant for a special meal prior to Christmas. We were not disappointed by either the venue or the service but felt the Xmas menu a little restrictive. The food we were served was well cooked and delicious. My wife had the scallops starter and I had the Pate de Foie Gras both of which came with a hefty surcharge. They were excellent. My wife had the halibut as the main and I had the roast beef. I felt my beef was a little restricted in size and was not served with a Yorkshire pudding which was a bit strange for a Sunday roast. We didn't have sweet or coffee's. We came away feeling we had eaten well but something was missing. We will definitely try the venue again but perhaps in the Spring or Summer when the venue could be more inviting.
Generally it was a good night but the service on this occasion was poor not enough staff for the customers and we had got forgotten on a couple of occasions according to one of the serving waiters! For the price we paid this was not really acceptable. The food was very good and plenty to eat toi. If we were with friends we would have had to complain about how long it took to be served on all fronts.
The experience was slightly marred by a group of revellers who had too much too drink and were using offensive language. The staff did their best to diffuse the situation but it spoilt an otherwise really pleasant lunch.
