After reading reviews left recently, my wife and I were highly skeptical. We are from the states and planned on going here as part of something we always dreamed, Gordon’s restaurant. We had the beef Wellington and it was great. The slices were about 1” thick and there was 2 per person. Amazing food and great service

Had the set menu and chose the haggis balls and lobster bisque for starter. This was good then we opted for the ravioli for main. This was horrible, very garlicky and pasta was bland. Service was ok but had to pay a fee to pay??

Service was exceptional . Our waiter was very impressive . However the quantity/price ratio is off , especially on the curry. However our waiter did make sure we left happy 😊 Overall it’s a lovely venue and the quality of the food is very good.

Spent Valentine’s Day with fiancé here, lovely place in an amazing location. Very nice dining setting, we had a window seat overlooking St Andrews square. Ordered haggis bonbons for starters which were delicious. We are both steak lovers and ordered a 1.2kg porterhouse to share for our main with sides of chips. The food was lovely however I think personally a little overpriced in comparison to other steakhouses in Edinburgh. Generally we would spend in the region of £150 for a meal for two, here the bill came to over £225. I would return for another meal but the porterhouse is a tad overpriced in my humble opinion.

Great staff and atmosphere. Limited menu and the food was very average. Burger over cooked and the curry had hardly any chicken in. Overpriced for what the dishes tasted like unfortunately.

Half the food was off the menu including all the roasts, which was shocking considering this is advertised for Sunday only. Got a burger for £20 instead which was simple and very basic. Wife got a steak requested medium rare, but was cooked rare, borderline blue. Cannot fault the staff they were very attentive and gave an overall discount to apologise. However, given the amount each course was, how poor the food was and the fact this restaurant is trading on a well known chefs name, I expected much better. Won’t be returning.

Really welcoming friendly service, enjoyed the atmosphere and restaurant setup. Good work really nice, - Bread basket was tasty and good for 2 (needs more butter tho) - Olives were tasty and generous portion, but was £6 so maybe fair portion - Beef Wellington for two with the mash which was really tasty, thought the jus was not enough but actually had some left, beef was beautiful colour and melt in your mouth. -Side dish not needed as beef portion was pretty filling, but we got the Bean side which was nice and honey carrots I’d happily give a miss next time. Then for pudding I had the sticky toffee which was so soft and full of flavour with a really tasty ice cream. Only thing I would say was that we were put as a couple into a round booth so sitting next to each other, which some may prefer, but I found it little uncomfortable to eat with the seating position but was quite relaxing when not.

Was really looking forward to trying this restaurant as it was a birthday celebration however, our group was left extremely disappointed and left after the main course was served. Waited an eternity to order drinks and had to continually ask a server for additional drinks throughout the evening, no attention given to the table. Food...I think would be best left at over priced.

I booked this for my partners birthday, when we arrived we got two free glasses of Prosecco for mentioning it was his birthday such a cute wee touch, we were sat down and served really fast by Roy. We ordered the beef wellington which was amazing, we also got a side of carrots and macaroni cheese. The only complaint would be that the mashed potato wasn’t very hot. Apart from that food and cocktails were amazing!

There was no bread, sushi or ravioli. Which is a shame. If the name of the restaurant is bread street, no matter what, you must have bread. I ordered a burger, i asked if it could be prepared medium, that was not possible because of the meat??? So i got a not so juice all the way cooked burger. As a starter i ordered a steak tartare. The quality of the meat was good, but it was underseasoned and not that spectacular. With no salt or pepper on the table I could not fix it. The dessert was good and the fish and chips and duck sallat which my wife ordered, where also good. I had bigger expectations of a Gordon Ramsay restaurant.

Please take this as constructive feedback. The signature G&T has a good flavour but is far too sweet. The restaurant did remove them from the bill. The French 75, which I chose as a replacement only tested of lemon juice. The first wine ordered (Ramon Bilboa Reserva) was out of stock. The second (Gigondas) was a different vintage to the menu, which is also a different vintage to the one-line menu. The food was very good, the Wellington and the Pork Belly. The waiter that brought our meal was outstanding, we did not get his name. The ambience was a little mixed, overall relaxed but the restaurant was only 1/3 full on a Friday evening ( upstairs was empty once a single occupied table left) which felt a little odd.

2 out of 5. Gordon Ramsay would be fuming with expletives if this wasn’t his place. Bread basket was cold rolls the kind you get from a tesco, starters were average and desert was from the same supplier as most other much cheaper places. The main was really nice and flavours worked together, which was the only redeeming thing about the experience. Worst mojito I’ve ever tried in the UK (you couldn’t taste mint).

The beef wellington was excellent, so was the prawn cocktail. The scallops and apple pie were alright, though the scallops were rather expensive for just three. Service was poor, slow and needed reminding that we had asked for wine, the bill etc.

Waited 1h30m for a cocktail or water. After asking the staff if the cocktail would take much longer, they went to ask the bar and never returned. Food was served cold and flavourless. Deserts were OK and cocktails, once they arrived, were tasty.

Booked a table on new years eve with my partner. 1 waitress was serving around 8 tables by herself it seemed but for a very busy evening she handled it well - could not fault the service. What i can fault was the beef wellington, when paying £65 per person i would expect the meat to be tender and not chewy. It was okay but did not meet anywhere near our expectations for the price we paid. Atmosphere was good, cocktails were really nice but would recommend choosing something else on the menu for your main to avoid disappointment.

Whilst we enjoyed our meal it took almost 2 hours from being seated to receive our main courses, of which 2 were then cold and had to be sent back. The waitress was amazing, but the kitchen team were understaffed so our overall experience was disappointing. They did comp us a bottle of wine as an apology however.

Went to try the beef Wellington, was told when we set down that it was sold out for the night so we were disappointed by that but understood. We tried a few starters instead… the wings were great, the flavor was good. The wagyu meatballs were very small and very bland in flavor, so we were disappointed in those. The meatballs were also overpriced for what you received in our opinion. The creamy mash potato was also bland in flavor and a little dry. Tried to go the next night to try the beef Wellington but they wouldn’t allow walk-ins unfortunately

It was a special night for our family - Christmas evening and we opted to pay a little more than our usual family dinner because of the occasion. Atmosphere and service were fine - however we were completely underwhelmed by the quality of the food. We live in Tokyo and we have eaten at many good establishments - this was not one of them. I had the Cauliflower "curry". It consisted of three pieces of cauliflower drizzled with sauce. There was no curry. This was entitled as a main dish. We spent 325 pounds for a family of five and all of us left extremely disappointed. The highlight was pulling the crackers that were left on our table. This was a nice touch.

I can't recommend it. It's pricey. I paid $22 for a quarter of braised cauliflower on a thin layer of daal. The watercress on steak plate was wilted, some was yellow. The desserts were inventive and delicious. The Scotch menu had my favorites. The music was fun and eclectic but the volume was too loud. The waste paper bins in the men's room were the size of oatmeal containers. They were both overflowing by 8 pm. Server was on point. I think this restaurant trades on Gordon's celebrity. While that is expected, higher standards are needed.

we had made reservations months in advance for our anniversary trip, it was for 4:45 in afternoon, so not late on Christmas Day to run out of items, traveled from states to Scotland and was really excited to try restaurant, but we had a bad experience. Food was very cold and items served were not on the menu as described, example, we ordered turkey with sage dressing, got served brussel sprouts as a side and no dressing, Yorkshire pudding without the pastry, that’s just a few issues, there were others , Very disappointed with service and food.

We dined on Christmas day as a party of 2. It did not go well. - The wait for our mains was unacceptably long. After our starters were removed it took approximately 1.5 hours for our mains to be served, during which time there was next to no communication from the waitstaff or management. During this time our section of the restaurant was approximately 75% full and it appeared other tables were experiencing similar wait times for their mains. After about an hour we were able to flag down our server, who apologized for the delay to our mains and said the kitchen was going to "make them now". At this point our server disappeared and was not seen again during our time in the restaurant. - Our mains were not worth the price we paid for them and certainly not worth the wait. The Keralan cauliflower curry was generally flavourless and basically consisted of a quarter of a head of slightly-charred cauliflower over a tiny amount of curry. The mushroom and spinach tortelloni was undercooked to the point where it was in parts uncooked. By way of apology management offered us a free dessert. We declined this as we felt it was not worth the wait for the additional course. This was intended to be our Christmas lunch out. We left hungry and ended up cooking for ourselves at home.

It was lovely, but when you pay in advance for an ‘experience’ it said, kinda disappointingly limited menu for veggie/vegan options and mums dish was missing items too. Grand though not sure I’d go again
