Breddos Tacos Soho
Sunday: 12:00 - 20:00
Had been really looking forward to trying Breddos out. When we arrived the menu was reduced to just 10 items - apparently they were transitioning the menu? Lots of things I'd been looking forward to ordering weren't available, in particular some of the cheaper menu items like chicharones/skins/sweetbreads etc. weren't on which meant it was difficult to order lots without cost being prohibitive. If the menu is changing it should be updated on apps like Opentable as it misleads customers and gives them false expectation.
Food was great, just disappointed with number of options on revised menu.
Busy and vibrant. Tasty food. Unfortunately didn’t have the cod taco, which was my first choice. Nice wine but not a big selection. Would probably go again if I was in the area, but not frequently
This was the most disappointing Mexican restaurant I have been to in London. Not only was it uncomfortably tight in terms of seating, there isn’t enough space on the tables for the food. The waiters could be more imaginative in the way they bring out the orders instead of forcing the guests to rearrange the table for them every time. It also makes me feel like everything needs to be eaten quickly. The prices are outrageous for what it is, and it tasted like the taco fillings were already made ahead of the evening. More disturbing is that the food is lukewarm. My biggest issue might be the octopus which costs £18, it was two small tentacles on a bed of salad (nothing interesting as far as taste, just tomatoes and salad). So, considering the plates are small but hard to share, pretty much cold, the margarita is more alcohol than anything else, the ambience is non existent...I am not sure how I allowed myself to spend over £80 for two people. In hindsight for that price, I should have gone elsewhere.
Excellent food and amazing service! Cozy and friendly atmosphere, you will not be disappointed.
Another overpriced mexican / tapas-type eatery; flavours were full but at £4 for a teensy taco the overall experience was disappointing. We were advised by the server to order 3 tacos apiece, which we did, but we still left hungry.
So good. I can’t even. The tortillas were awesome and the ribs and the sweet potatoes and the other tortillas and if I had been able to eat any more I would have happily stayed until closing time. Nearly had an argument with my other half as I was trying to persuade him to get some takeaway for tomorrow. Will be back as soon as possible. As in possibly this week.
Such a shame, I love the Clerkenwell restaurant. Seems the same passion and attention to detail hasn't followed the Breddos Tacos name.
Limited menu in soho but I wasn't fussed as they still had the fish tacos. But they weren't the same.... Very watery, lacking in flavour. If you like good mexican, stick to Clerkenwell.
Food was tasty, but service below average. Waiter initially given order for 2 people, forgot a few items so came back to double check, however served incorrect items. A 2nd waiter apologised and re confirmed the order, but still had a missing item, which we were still charged for. A real let down as food was tasty and lively atmosphere. Recommend El pastor for a similar vibe, tastier food and better service!
Fantastic tacos. Great service
Amazing ambience with tasty food and great tequila drinks, don't miss this out!
Service was painfully slow. Waited an hour for food. Was compensated with a free round of drinks but this really didn’t make up for the fact a quick dinner took 2 full hours!
I have become less than enamoured with Breddo's. With the cost increase since I have known about Breddo' s and the service/kitchen issues, I will not return. £45 for 2 tacos a side and 2 drinks seems excessive.
The dining experience was lacking. We had the chicken, beef and fish tacos, all of which were a little bland tasting to be honest. The steak took an age to chew through too. The pulpo octopus was tasty, although for £18 there were only 2 small tentacles in the portion. We were seated right by the toilet door too which was in constant use, and when asking if we could move to another equally 2-seated table we were told we can’t because it’s booked, even though we had booked prior to arriving ourselves. The staff being friendly, and the tuna tostada was the only redeeming factor, that was a good portion and delicious. The ambient noise too made it difficult for conversation even though we were facing each other. Overall pretty disappointed.
The service was appalling. We ordered our food and then waited 45 minutes before we could finally catch the eye of a waiter. We told him we hadn’t received any of our order and he had to then write the order down again. When the food arrived it was cold. It was very busy in the restaurant however being on Carnaby Street you would expect for the restaurant to be prepared for this. Overall very disappointing as I’ve always had a good experience in the Breddos in Farringdon.
Service was good but we were sat downstairs with flies and very dim light so it lacked ambience. It felt like a cellar than a restaurant. The food looked good but tasted bland. And no dessert menu!
Lovely food & good service... would recommend!
I think the Clerkenwell branch edges it for food, but this is still great. It's a touch expensive, but given the location and the quality of the food/service, it's not bad value. Recently, they seem to have been using a little too much red cabbage as filler in the tacos, but I guess ingredient prices have gone up. So food not quite at the standard of Clerkenwell (especially of a year or so ago), but well worth a trip.
For the price, the food was very standard and lacklustre - the dishes were under spiced with no real wow factor which Mexican food is capable of... the frozen margaritas were too sweet. The tuna tostada (£8.50) was the standout dish, very fresh and delicious. Could have had more zing to make it excellent though, and it was quite small.
The tacos at £4 each adds up, and again no single taco wowed us and lacked zing and spice.
Grilled octopus was $18 and again was deliciously soft - but didn't have the zing and spice to make it a great Mexican offering.
The staff were actually really friendly though and and very passionate about their offerings - they welcomed us as soon as we got in and were a delight to interact with. Such a shame though that the food let the team down. definitely more zing needed - or lower prices
We were served raw pork!! my girlfriend realised it only after eating couple of bites as it was all covered with spices. She got FOOD POISIONING after eating there.
On complaining the waiter took away that saying he will come back with another one but never brought the properly cooked one.
I had ordered some beef taco and it was rare beef cut.
Cut above Mexican with great service. Popped in pre-theatre. Drinks are more-ish.
Shame about the service because the food is really great (in my opinion).
Highly recommend the guacamole and queso. Oddly, they’ve taken salsa off the menu. The octopus was fantastic. The Nomade is one the best alternative margaritas ever.
The service is extremely hit or miss. Twice, I’ve had atrocious service. Didn’t come and take our order for 20mins (the place was EMPTY) then, when we finally got their attention, the waiter immediately asked ‘have you been told when you’ve got to leave yet?’ I was speechless. Could only laugh! Very ironic considering how long we’d waited for them to come over in the first place.
There always seems to be confusion and miscommunication when ordering. Do not understand why. The wait staff definitely don’t communicate with one another.
Worse, still, a couple of waiters another time I went were very obviously b**ching about my friend and me. This happened after we’d asked for something to be changed because they hadn’t taken account that we wanted it ‘with no egg on top’. So bad!! And rude!!
Not sure I’m going to go back anymore because it’s just depressing when the wait staff are so s*** and, frankly, make you feel uncomfortable
Not a patch on Breddos Clerkenwell where the food quality and presentation is much better
Waiters forgot about us - took 10% off the bill but kept the 12.50% service charge on there
Very expensive for the amount of food you get - was expecting a taco feast but received anything but
food is tasty
Food was very salty, almost inedible. Beetroot had lots of grit in it. Very unpleasant to eat. Waiter said it’s meant to taste like that....
Over priced for what you get. Won’t be going back here
Get the octopus!!!
Lamb tacos were banging! Best taco I’ve ever had
Ross was great!
No cervezeas though - even though it says it on the window
Always great food and staff very friendly and great menu recommendations but a little hard to get their attention. Overall brilliant.
We had a lovely meal with fantastic service! Delicious food and cocktails!
The spicy margaritas are wonderful and the tacos are a joy. Had a lovely time.
Really good food and with a nice atmosphere. If you're a fan of Taco's and Mexican food in general then you'll really like this place.
Great tapas-style diner, especially the seafood tacos and the octopus. Also loved the sweet potato dish!
Staff were very friendly and helpful, however was very disappointed with the menu. Not your typical mexican dishes and not very vegetarian friendly.
All 3 of us were vegetarian and the mains section only consisted of one vegetarian option which was a very bland smelly cabbage with no taste whatsoever so we send it back.
We resorted to ordering all the vegetarian sides and salads. The sides of sweet potato, cassava root and plantain were good as wasnthe corn on the cob. For some reason our salads didn’t arrive with or soon after our other food so turns our there was a computer glitch and the order for these didn’t go through. The waiter was very apologetic.
Also we ordered a bottle of prosecco which had a funny beerlike taste.
Overall a pretty negative dining experience, possibly better for meat eaters.
I enjoyed Breddos Tacos but the service was shockingly slow and really uncaring. We had a server thoroughly (too thoroughly - it was like he was reading it for the first time) go through the menu with us but then ignore us for a good 20-minutes while we tried to order. When we had ordered he didn't mention that sides might help with our mains. We last-minute ordered some queso with our meal which came a bit cold and far too solidified.
Really nice staff, nice tasting food but really small portions. Only got 7/8 tortilla chips with guacamole and the lamb sharing platter was only enough for 1 person. It was a nice bit of lamb but 85% of it was bone so very little actual meat to go around.
Love Breddos Soho. I've been a few times, and the food is always delicious. I'm addicted to their tacos. Their margaritas are fabulous as well!
Nice restaurant, but the food was just a bit bland and lifeless. Many of the tacos felt like they were missing something, and lacked the piquancy and vibrancy you would associate with a taqueria.
However, the staff is friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant has a fun ambiance that suits dining with friends.
I love it here and most of the staff are very lovely but we were ignored for 15 minutes when we arrived for our booking, then decided to just sit down. It took a long time to get drinks/the bill/to pay, but the food is declicious and arrives quickly.
Great service at the beginning but slowed a little as the evening went on. Cocktails were fantastic and couldn’t fault the quality of the food. Everything was delicious. It was a little pricey considering the portion sizes however I would still return to try the rest of the menu.
Food excellent as was general service. Was charged almost 10 pounds for a starter I did not necessarily ask for. Would have been nice for the server to let me know that chips and salsa had such a cost!
The food was great, with some nice variety on the menu and even though the service was friendly it was painfully slow. I would be happy to go again but will manage my expectations accordingly.
