Best roast we have had by far. Highly recommend the place for food.
Amazing food and great atmosphere. Service was 5/5
A lovely meal as always, bit noisy this time.
And very busy
Really lovely food at this gorgeous old pub. Friendly service too. Great, interesting menu and choices.
Been a few times but this time was awful. Nothing special. Ordered 2 deserts and they only bought 1 out as she forgot. Service was bad, feel they didn't care much as we didn't order wine (that's where they make their money). Used to be amazing food. Pork belly was not as it should be, the fat was removed for some reason. My risotto was like stodge and had no flavour. Side of veg was nothing special either....
Good food, would go back.
Excellent food and very polite service. One disappointment is from the beginning we felt we were being rushed and this proved to be correct when we were asked to move table before our coffees. We ended up asking for the bill and leaving earlier than we would have. The manager/owner handled it very well and explained it was a particularly busy afternoon and also reduced our bill. It did however impact on the overall enjoyment of the afternoon. Hope this helps!
A very good experience overall. Excellent service and very good food, without being exceptional. The greens in particular could be a little more imaginative.
Such a gem of a place, the food is incredible and on par with top restaurants in London. The atmosphere in the evenings can be more low key than sunny days, when the pub is heaving.
This is definitely 5 star dining in my opinion. Can’t think of a better place to go for great food.
The only niggling issue I have is the price of the nicer wines - seems a little steep in some cases at three or four times more expensive than the retail price. Maybe it’s just to reflect the level of food. Saying that, there are plenty of options on the wine list so you don’t have to go for a pricey option.
Service was very good and friendly.
Highly recommend this place for any time of day.
We have been dining at the Bricklayers for the past 17 years where the food and service have been consistently excellent during this time. We can heartily recommend this delightful country pub.
Lovely lunch as always would definitely recommend We will be back soon
A delighted place to enjoy a very high quality meal and high quality wine. The Bricklayers Arms has a terrific ambience with a friendly and welcoming host and staff.
Have been coming here for years but never for a Sunday roast.... shouldn’t have expected anything different... it was fantastic. Beautifully tender beef and lamb with veg and yorkies just like home. We will be back!
Delicious food, excellent service and friendly atmosphere.
Food was great and it’s a really nice pub lots of charm would def go again as the beef melted in your mouth
Consistently fabulous, the Bricklayers never disappoints. Sunday Roast was superb. The only challenge is leaving enough room for their amazing desserts
Birthday. Love this restaurant. We’ve never had a bad meal. It is our go to for absolutely fabulous food, service and a beautiful location.
Food and wine both excellent. Staff and atmosphere great. Fully recommend
Always a nice evening but has there been a change of chef? The food is fine-ish but nowhere near to where it was 10 or 12 months ago.
Great place for a quiet midweek lunch. Went with a friend and thoroughly enjoyed the set menu. Service was friendly and attentive, but not not overly so and it is a lovely venue. Look forwards to going back.
Exceptional service and food. We have visited a few times over the years mostly to celebrate a special occasion, they have always provide a warm atmosphere and ensured we have had a good time. The food and menu is always seasonal but offers such amazing choices and they are happy to help with the drinks menu to find the perfect fit.
I would highly recommend this restaurant with its secluded and romantic location.
Very well presented food; flavoursome and enjoyable. Delay in service from the kitchen let the meal down.
Excellent food, great beer and wine selection and friendly, attentive service. We love the Bricklayers.
As per stars, all was mostly excellent. We were a bit cramped, on the table for 6. Unfortunately sat right next to a couple, who the man had to read out the whole menu, to the woman, loudly. Plenty of other tables for the regular couple of complainants to be seated.
Chicken & Roast Potatoes very dry, no flavour, no red cabbage, no new potatoes and service awful.
"Please can I have a pint of Coke Zero", answer "NO"! Practically shouted at us.
Over priced paid £91 for a very poor dinner for 2 adults and 2 children
Went for a sunday roast! Best one i have had out! Beautiful place and garden, was so busy that service was a little slow but understandable with the amount of people there! Definitely recommend
Excellent meal and service in a lovely country location. Good for families, couples and groups for a get together
We have been to Bricklayers Arms a few times before and found its food and ambiance really good, so we decided to go again to celebrate our wedding anniversary, but we all left dissapointed. Not anymore the beautiful food and service, the food was more than rushed, the roast potatoes hardly roasted, more like mashed potatoes, the duck`s skin not crispy at all, little to no gravy and to top it all, we had to wait for soooo long for our food to be served. Really, what happened Bricklayers arms? Did the fame got to your head? Not going back to soon, such a pity as it used to be our pub to go and travelling for more than an hour by car to get to this pub, not worth it anymore!
Our first visit met with all expectations except that our table for four had a mix of chairs, one comfortable, leather-based one and three traditional wooden, kitchen-style chairs. I appreciate the old-world, rustic character of the gastropub, although the brickwork in the restaurant looked decidedly 1980's, but with prices at the level they are, comfortable seats should be part of the experience. Cushionless wooden seats are certainly not.
Booked last minute and sat at a table in the garden on a very sunny September Sunday. We ordered Roast Lamb and Beef - gorgeous, staff friendly and very attentive - would happily recommend the Bricklayers Arms
Bit disappointed. Service was much too rushed. Previously when I have dined there whole experience was much better. At the prices for the diner the whole dining experience should be much better and not so much pub grub style.
Food I had was very nice but the lemon sole ate by another guest very ordinary
Lovely food excellent service. Enjoyable lunchtime
Lovely place to eat! Delicious puddings and brilliant service. Only thing that would make it better for me would be to see more veggie options on the main meals. (We went on a Sunday) We will definitely go back.
The food was exceptional. The exterior charm of the pub was consistent with the lovely ambience of the interior decor. Service is on par with 5-star hotels. Impressive.
Excellent food and service. Nice new items on menu. We will be back again!
Lovely place to visit but found the dishes we had could have been nicer
Good choice of dishes and specials. Particularly like fish dishes. Had the steamed cod with nori crust which was delicious. Great puddings too so leave room for them too. Good range of wines and real ales.
As always wonderful food, service and ambience.
Very good service with attentive staff.
It was rather noisy as tables are quite close together.
Very enjoyable will definitely go again
