Very Poor
Chicken & Roast Potatoes very dry, no flavour, no red cabbage, no new potatoes and service awful.
"Please can I have a pint of Coke Zero", answer "NO"! Practically shouted at us.
Over priced paid £91 for a very poor dinner for 2 adults and 2 children

We have been to Bricklayers Arms a few times before and found its food and ambiance really good, so we decided to go again to celebrate our wedding anniversary, but we all left dissapointed. Not anymore the beautiful food and service, the food was more than rushed, the roast potatoes hardly roasted, more like mashed potatoes, the duck`s skin not crispy at all, little to no gravy and to top it all, we had to wait for soooo long for our food to be served. Really, what happened Bricklayers arms? Did the fame got to your head? Not going back to soon, such a pity as it used to be our pub to go and travelling for more than an hour by car to get to this pub, not worth it anymore!

Our first visit met with all expectations except that our table for four had a mix of chairs, one comfortable, leather-based one and three traditional wooden, kitchen-style chairs. I appreciate the old-world, rustic character of the gastropub, although the brickwork in the restaurant looked decidedly 1980's, but with prices at the level they are, comfortable seats should be part of the experience. Cushionless wooden seats are certainly not.

Booked last minute and sat at a table in the garden on a very sunny September Sunday. We ordered Roast Lamb and Beef - gorgeous, staff friendly and very attentive - would happily recommend the Bricklayers Arms

Bit disappointed. Service was much too rushed. Previously when I have dined there whole experience was much better. At the prices for the diner the whole dining experience should be much better and not so much pub grub style.
Food I had was very nice but the lemon sole ate by another guest very ordinary

Lovely place to eat! Delicious puddings and brilliant service. Only thing that would make it better for me would be to see more veggie options on the main meals. (We went on a Sunday) We will definitely go back.

Good choice of dishes and specials. Particularly like fish dishes. Had the steamed cod with nori crust which was delicious. Great puddings too so leave room for them too. Good range of wines and real ales.

Beautiful food in a lovely location. Staff so nice helpful friendliest attentive and professional. All the food on the menu is on par with some of the best restaurants we have eaten in. We felt the desserts, delicious as they were, were slightly overpriced. Having said that and seemingly at odds, the overall bill for our meal was good value for the very high quality of the food served. Very good wine selection and very good beers. Will definitely return and would highly recommend

What a beautiful place! Everything you would look for in a country pub and more. A warm greeting and impeccable interior and atmosphere. The staff were also very nice. Hate to say anything negative, but as I have been approached to review, I will be honest. Our eagerly anticipated roast dinner was OK. The roast chicken was the best by far, tasty and succulent, but let down by average roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding; limited vegetables for four (one small shallow dish and one small pot of red cabbage). No children's menu, but told they could provide a child size portion from the mains selection. Perfect! This arrived, a large meal, on a huge plate! Comically, it took several examples of plate, to finally get a child size plate from the waiting staff. To keep this brief everyone ate nearly all of their food, but we each gave the food an average 6-7/10. We were only asked for one round of drinks ( a shame as it was my daughters birthday lunch) and no sauces were offered with dinner. We will try the Bricklayers Arms one more time, for an evening meal this time, as it is a lovely place and hopefully it may impress more on that occasion. P.S we didn't sit outside, but as somewhere to go in the countryside for a summers drink, it would be hard to beat.

Wrote a review actually a few days ago saying how impressed I had been following a few less impressive visits a few months previously. The food on the Saturday had been so good and yet this Thursday was so disappointing. I brought our future daughter in law’s parents hoping for some good food and instead the pea soup was, this time, average, the sea bass covered in a sauce that didn’t really seem to taste of anything and the salmon tartare had so much onion in it , I ended up leaving some uneaten. I left the restaurant hungry. I think that, basically, you have a week chef and an a weekend chef? It can’t be the same cook in the kitchen, impossible. So on that basis, we probably won’t return again. As it seems so hit and miss. Such a shame! You could possibly be the only decent restaurant in the 5 mile radius ... just too inconsistent. Service was lovely though. Waiter and waitress both very attentive and quick. Couldn’t fault them.

Ate here at lunchtime with a friend. The service and ambiance were excellent. I think that the food was overpriced but was of good quality. At the prices I woul expect some sort of vegetable to be included and not added as an extra. The cauliflower cheese we chose was large enough for two and tasty.
The pudding of waffle with a scoop of ice cream was very disappointing and gristly overpriced at over £7. The sticky toffee pudding on the other hand was delicious, more complex and cheaper!
I would revisit but only for a special occasion

I am absolutely over the moon with my latest visit to Bricklayers Arms. We had been coming for years and live locally and had been let down by the standard of food the last few times we had come. However, last Saturday, I had the best meal out in a long time. The menu was far healthier and more varied. Am not a vegetarian but do tend to prefer meat-free food when out as they don’t tend to be so rich. Your aubergine cake was divine and your pea/courgette and mint soup out of this world. We are most definitely coming back!

This is always a favourite venue where, for us anyway, standard are maintained- from the friendliness of the welcome on arrival until we leave - and of course everything in between. And not we are going back again soon.

I first visited The Bricklayer's Arms approximately 15 years ago, and was impressed. My return visit this Tuesday exceeded expectations:
▪ I made the booking on-line, which was efficient.
▪ The staff were welcoming and friendly, without being too familiar.
▪ The service was excellent, the menu varied, and the food well-presented and delicious.
The visit was a special birthday treat for my friend, and his pudding arrived suitably embellished.
I definitely recommend The Bricklayer's Arms.

Lovely quintessentially-looking English pub but with a smart feel to it - great ambience and a beautiful spot in the Buckinghamshire countryside. Had to wait around 15 minutes for our table to come free :( The service was exemplary - well-timed, friendly and very efficient. The food itself was very nice. It was Sunday lunch so pretty much standard fare but a few fish options on the menu too which were appreciated although the 4 of us all had the roasts. Very tasty but I guess a roast is a roast.
Food prices marginally on the high side but not unreasonable. Wine selection was good and prices very fair.
I'd definitely go again.
