Balkan style

Zest is a cozy little Balkan restaurant in Amsterdam's 'Upper West' zone. Since 2012, chef Huby and the crew have been delighting both neighbors and travellers with our food and our friendship.

Our ever-changing menu always includes some excellent choices for both vegetarians and carnivores, including traditional Bulgarian specialties — and of course our celebrated burgers.

At Zest we build our dishes with love and care. Only the purest ingredients deserve to appear on your plate, and every bite should be memorable. But haute cuisine it's not. This is real, good food, for real good people — the kind you'll meet when you come in for dinner or a drink

Very disjointed operation: probably 10-15 people in the restaurant, 1 waitress and it took 45min from entering to have our starter. Mains arrived immediately on our prompting of waitstaff; we ordered 2 of the same burger, patty was overcooked (but warm/hot) fries cold, chocolate cake with grandmarnier...but couldn't taste it at all...How come? Poor waitstaff, poor kitchen staff, poor internal communication etc..? Home-brewed beer was very nice, as was the glass of red. Overall, disappointed...
