Browns - Brighton
Very expensive, small portions, very noisy, felt rushed. Would not recommend.
Love eating in Brown’s and I couldn’t fault the service. However I chose the lobster risotto which I have had previously in Brown’s Covent Garden. However the lobster that accompanies the risotto was so tough and overcooked it was almost inedible.
A shame as this is one of my favourite restaurants
The food was average but the price was way above average!!!!
Having made a booking via OpenTable and receiving a confirmation email, 24 hours later had a phone call from Browns to say they could offer me a table at 5pm or 9pm but not at 7pm which was the time of my booking. No apologies just that the way it is.
OpenTable just blamed Browns and said I could always phone the restaurant to confirm a booking, not seeing the ridiculousness of that suggestion as it renders their platform to irrelevance.
So I am giving an all round one star, but to be clear we did not eat there.

Very noisy and average service. The chicken was awful as were the sides.
Very helpful staff. I had a party of 12 for my birthday meal and they were all very complimentary about the overall experience.

Disappointing as when we arrived they did not have our reservation. We were a party of 8 and although the managed to accommodate us we were on two small round tables pushed together which was not very inspiring. The service was good but the food and ambience was nowhere near the experience we have had at Browns in Bath.
A regular at Brown’s, this was my first visit to Brown’s at Brighton. Steaks were a little over cooked, and the two ‘managers’ absolutely useless; appearing to create more problems for their team than they resolved.
However - we had a very enjoyable night there, which is to the thanks of the amazing service given by ‘Chrissie’; who could not have done more to make sure we were well looked after.
Firstly they called to advise my booking could not be taken at the desired time and moved back by 45mins then when I got to resturant they tried to advise my booking had been cancelled as I did not agree to this. Terrible service
I had the set menu and the starter and main were great but I was very disappointed in the Eton Mess dessert which was all cream and a bit of fruit and virtually no meringue so sadly that affected what was generally a good experience.
Really enjoyed the lunch and would definitely visit again. Thought, the menu was a good curated choice.
Have visited Browns for years in London and Oxford too, enjoy the atmosphere.
Had a lovely evening. Service good. Clean toilets. Belly pork with mash was lovely. Will definitely return again.
Went in for lunch with my husband. Good quick service, lovely food. Impressed when waiter chased after an elderly lady to return her purse she had left on the table. It’s a lovely place to eat. Would recommend.

Unfortunately the food was not up to standard expected of Browns on previous visits. There was no presentation or care taken and some dishes looked uneatable. The service was very slow.

Having been to Browns previously, and considering the time of year (Xmas) you get what you get with any busy restaurant - you need to be patient. Although a queue at the door, quickly acknowledged and presented to the table. Good food experience, well served, would definitely recommend. Be ready to accept that you are not the only people in town and be prepared to wait a little longer that would normally be expected for delivery of food and drink. This was a set meal choice and quality of food did not disappoint, hot food was hot when served not luke warm and very tasty. Drinks are what they from out of a bottle - good varied choice. Overall very satisfied.

We were very well looked after, food was good and plentiful.
We had friends visiting from Iceland for a 50th birthday and we chose Browns for this special occasion, making our booking on Open Table. The booking was at 8pm for 6 people and we received the confirmation number. When we arrived they couldn’t find our booking... an embarrassing wait while they checked on the system if they could accommodate us. Eventually 2 small round tables were found at the very back of the restaurant, they pushed the tables together, which was not ideal. Our friends noticed a large shelf had been pulled off the wall behind us leaving a big mark and exposed screws & fixings. The broken shelf was left on a low wall by our table...We waited around 40 minutes for the first drinks to arrive. The food itself was good and the portion sizes good too. Our Waitress was pleasant but restaurant very busy so service very slow.
Just not worth the bother or the money. Miserable staff with poor customer service and poor food. I'll give this place a miss from now on
An excellent Monday night meal, attentive staff, varied menu, and general good quality all round. Would be pleased to recommend, and are looking forward to returning on our next visit to Brighton.

Arrived and was seated straight away but waited over 20 minutes for a drink order then a further 15 for them to come over once our order wS taken it came out looking like something I made at home ??

The food was good and our waitress was great but this restaurant is understaffed - as soon as the place filled up little, the attentiveness vanished - our main course plates sat for 30mins after we were done and we served our wine ourselves - our waitress apologised but we made it clear that it wasn't her fault, and we tipped her accordingly. Hire more waiting staff on a Saturday night!
We waited a very long time to place an order and then mains were ready before we had finished starters. Not up to the normal Brown’s standards.
Poor quality food, very much a chain restaurant. No ambience to speak of and overpriced considering all the great restaurants you can choose to go to. Go to The Ivy everytime over this place.
Great food great atmosphere as always
Booked online before arriving in Brighton. When we got to the restaurant we were told we could have the table until 8.30 because there was a show nearby which was enough time for us but made us feel a little pressured to get done. Several diners on the tables near us had complaints about service and quality of food which dampened the mood even more. When our order arrived the food was OK nothing more. Service acceptable. Our bill with drinks was £60 which was probably £20 too much for what we had in my opinion. Wouldn't go back.
Whilst the food was good if a little expensive the service was very poor for example we waited 30mins to place an order and then waited a further 35mins to be served . This was a pre theatre meal and we only had time for the main course no desert or coffee. Pity the poor service spoiled a good meal.

Brown's is a good bistro but quite noisy so not great for conversation. Service was excellent. Food was fine and they have an excellent wine list.
Convenient location for a meal prior to watching a show at the Brighton Centre. Comfortable seating, attentive service and wholesome food well cooked.
Excellent meals and service. Thee lobster was cooked perfectly. Their fish pie is delicious. All the appetizers were also really tasty and.
No bread sauce with turkey was a disappointment.
Great meal, puddings were amazing. Well worth a visit.
