Browns - Bristol
Friday - Saturday: 09:00 - 23:00
Sunday: 09:00 - 21:30
Fine food overall
Service very slow no t enough staff for a busy period
Last ate in Browns a few years ago so I was looking forward to the meal. Surroundings were lovely as was the attentive service but the food was a let down (apart from the pea and mint soup which, let’s face it, is difficult to mess up). On arrival we were informed that there was no chicken. This substantially reduced the number of available options on the menu. No specials were on offer either. So, myself and my partner went for the salmon and horseradish fishcake with salad and sides. The fish cakes were on the table as soon as the starters were taken away. We both stared at them for a while wondering why they were so very mahogany brown.
Deep fat fried to within an inch of being edible. That said, we were hungry and ate them. We both suffered gastric consequences later that evening. Note to self: cook your own in the future and don’t go back!!
Turned up to be told they did not have a booking for us showed them proof we had a booking confirmation and fortunately they managed to find us a table, enjoyable evening after the worrying start
An enjoyable meal In a relaxed atmosphere with good food.
To be honest it’s Xmas and the place was full of party goers so I don’t think it’s fair to judge it against our evening.
The food was ok and it arrived on time with a smile which is more than you often get at this time of year.
I would go back when it’s more ‘normal’
My sons brownie and ice cream was fab !
Sunday luncheon for birthday. Food only just warm on delivery to table. Plenty of veg, roast beef tough and a fair amount of gristle. To be honest, could have got better at a local pub and cheaper. Fish and chips good. Choc brownies very good.
They said they had no record of my booking through open table despite my confirmation email and number. They blamed third party booking sites such as open table as allowing people to book tables which are already taken. They eventually offered a seat by the bar but I found another restaurant to eat at.
A mixed experience for my party of 6 for a late lunch on Saturday. Nice ambience with an interesting menu. Restaurant wasn't particularly busy but service was slow and not especially attentive. shepherds pie was good, Burger okay. But mushroom tagliatelle was too dry. This was my first visit to Browns for quite a few years, and on this experience it will be several more years before my next.
Good food but service took too long. Took a long time to be seated.
Good option for business meals - quality was good and service very good.
Very lovely restaurant, the food is incredible and the waiters/waitresses are very accommodating.
We went the the restaurant an hour early in the hopes they could move the time forward and they were more than happy to help. My grandparents loved it.
Food was absolutely delicious, a view echoed by all in our party of 5. Lovely building too.
We were a table of 13 on Mothers Day the restaurant could not have made the occasion any more special. There were 5 Mothers / Grandmothers / Great Grandmothers in the party everyone of them came away singing the praises of the food and especially the staff. 5 ⭐️'s seems rather meagre.
The building and ambiance was good, the music a little loud and didn't really fit.
Service was slow and we had to ask for everything, and attract attention from staff.
Food average, nothing to get too excited about. The mashed potato was gloopy and clearly had sat around for quite some time.
Not high on the list for a second visit I'm afraid!
