polite and good service, good choice of food on menu.
Sadly my side, creamed leeks, was cold and needed to be sent back. My main, lobster risotto, was salty. Definitely not what I expected based on the ambiance and decor.
They never had our booking in the system so we had to argue to get a table which they gave us in the bar
We had lunch at Browns, table was big and spacious and atmosphere in the venue very Christmassy. We had people coming in at different times and I appreciate if this was a little confusing to servers. For starters we had baked camembert (which was outstanding!) and other nibbles. Mains - two people on the table ordered linguine which was blant and none of the servers asked if something is wrong when my colleague just had a spoon or two and was done with the meal. We had one guest who was vegetarian, she did not like anything on the menu, waitress agreed to request chefs to make mushroom risotto. She was glad, but when her meal came it was beetroot risotto, she had to double check with server again, why is it beetroot not mushroom risotto. Server took back beetroot risotto and brought mushroom risotto ( which also did not have much taste). Since we had to headback to work it was a shame that some of us had to leave still hungry. I had a pot pie which was warming and filling and enjoyed it. Wish we could all have a great time.
Good food and service as usual but really does need acoustic treatment to keep the noise levels down.
Very good experience tables far enough apart to converse without joining some of other group conversation. Good menu selection, food delivered promptly. Staff when available were excellent but on a number of occasions had to wave to the bar staff to get a waitress to come and see us
We had the set lunch at Browns and thought it was good value for money. I had the chicken and ham pie which was fine overall. It had generous pieces of meat and was tasty but sauce was rather runny and when it's essentially served in a mini soup tureen with a pastry cap (not a real pie in my book) I could have done with a spoon rather than a fork to eat it. The lime posset for dessert was very good. The restaurant is lovely and the service was great.
Good central location for business lunch. Busy downstairs so go upstairs if you want to get into more detailed discussions. Standard fare done quite well and nice and quick if you’re pressed for time
It was fine - nothing special, but good value. Service OK, food OK.
Service and food was very good. We were upstairs so is wasn't so noisy. The only thing was that the temperature was really hot, a bit uncomfortable really.
We were having a good time until i took a spoonful of Eaton mess which has to bits of glass i had in my mouth. Staff did take drinks and desserts of the bill but to be honest i wasn't too pleased although this wasn't the waiters fault I would expect if there was glass in my food to not being paying for anything. its lucky i didn't break a tooth or cut my mouth as this would have become a legal case.
Very good business meal. Good menu choice and service, although the latter perhaps not quite as sensitive as it needed to be.
Expected more from this on my first visit, but the food was average and the service was at times rude.
Lovely food and good service. Great for a business lunch.
Food was excellent, service a little slow.
Sadly thats the last time for me at a Browns. I have been to many over the years but the quality of the food is far lower in recent visits.
Service was very slow despite few tables occupied and no sauces offered unless asked for or extra drinks etc.
Just nothing that would bring you back
Great location and nice varied menu
It was a great catch up with the girls and was glad that I had booked a table as totally manic on a Friday evening. The food was good and so were the cocktails!
Decent food lovely service
Not a bad lunch deal but I guess i ordered the wrong thing!! The chicken and ham pie was very poor - came in a soup bowl with a flap of pastry on top and impossible to eat except by tipping it all out on the plate - very messy. Very average taste.
Not tourists, but only occasional visitors to the Square Mile. Delighted to find a restaurant with reasonable table spacing, surprisingly investive, quality cuisine and attentive staff. Thoroughly recommended.
Excellent. It was very quiet between Xmas and New Years so we had an almost exclusive server! Look forward to returning. The steak and lobster was really good.
Lovely place in the City for a catch up with friends.
Great venue for our team Christmas bash, it was very busy, but service was excellent and the food delicious
Good place to reconnect with old friends and colleagues. Browns has a nice relaxed atmosphere with little or no pretensions. and doesn't take itself too seriously. Our group had a good. fun evening
Food was very good. But was let down by the service. I would not have minded if they were busy. But this was not the case
Great service and delicious food. Lovely ambience.
We were met with a warm welcome and taken to our table (upstairs) immediately however it was only 5 pm so not busy). Our allocated waiter was attentive and our drinks order arrived quickly. We placed our food order (prawn and crab linguine with roasted portobello mushrooms as a side dish). We waited a considerable length of time considering only 3 tables upstairs were occupied. When it arrived, the mushrooms were piping hot (and extremely tasty) but it was obvious that our linguine had been ready for some time as it was lukewarm.
If time hadn't been tight, I would have returned it as I dislike warm food but it was very tasty.
Would I return? For drinks, yes. Food, probably not.
Good food. Really nice place. A little loud.
Delicious food and very good service.
Very good central location and large.
Service was slow as it is busy at lunch time.
Vegetarian options not too many
have been here many times - however the last two lunches have been terrible... they do not cook the food fresh as they do not change or adapt for food allergies and do not understand food allergies. service was slow and staff did not seem to have a clue. been here in the evenings and prefer it as the staff seem to be awake then. won't be coming back during the day anymore.
The service was quick but good, we requested this when we arrived due to it being a one hour business lunch.
The chicken avocado salad was especially nice.
Came here for a quick lunch - took over 2 hours!!!! the food was terrible - the pasta was drenched in nothing but uncooked garlic... sent it back and they sent the same dish back which was still strong garlic... then third time it was cooked again and don't think the chef understands that uncooked garlic doesn't work as nothing changed. the service was very slow and left there eating nothing and they tried to charge me for no food.
Great for lunches and dinners with friends. Excellent food and quick and attentive service. The prawn and crab linguini is thoroughly recommended.
I went for a quick work lunch with a friedn. She had a great steak sandwich and I had the prawn & lobster sandwich. It was nice, speedy service reasonable price and friendly staff. No complaints.
I work above it so know I will be there again soon.
I have been twice in a few weeks, my experience exactly the same oddly...cool front desk reception but really friendly and efficient waiting staff. We all had the 2 course special offer menu and quite frankly there was nothing to fault. Really hot, tasty, well presented and a nice atmosphere
As usual, friendly staff (once at table...entry to restaurant I stood around looking for someone to show me to my pre-booked table, eventually had to ask behind the bar and the lady who seated me was not the friendliest), good service (once seated)and no fuss, well cooked simple food with a relaxing atmosphere.
Food was average - slow to come out and not very hot when it arrived. Perhaps there’s a link?
It was far too noisy to hear the people on the other side of the table.
A lovely venue for a catch up with friends. Very good value lunch deal. Our server was very good when he was with us, providing good recommendations. However trying to get attention was sometimes a challenge, and not having the wine on or near the table meant we actually had to leave without finishing the bottle.
