Browns - London Victoria
I use Browns as a good place to meet up with family near Victoria as it’s half way. They always accommodate my son who enjoys flirting with the waiting staff (he is 1), staff are attentive and the food always good.
Made a booking in advance but had not table for us in the main restaurant area so we sat downstairs. there was not enough staff so took us over 30 mins to order drinks and food. We were going to the theatre and explained that we need a quick turnaround but our food then took 40 mins to arrive. Just not enough staff at busy times.
Nice atmosphere, no fuss food and drink at a reasonable price for central London.
Great for a meal before the theatre
Our waitress was very efficient and helped us place our order quickly
The restaurant is set in Victoria, hidden away from easy sight. It was a bright, airy space.
The staff that received us were polite, courteous & efficient.
The waitress was a long time arriving to take our drinks order and even longer to take our meal orders. The service of just 1 starter took over 30 minutes to arrive at the table. We then waited a further 45 minutes for our main courses to arrive.
We were also not asked if we needed any further drinks, even tea/coffee at the end of the meal.
This was when the restaurant was not busy in any way shape or form so I dread to think what the service would be like when the space is full.
Very good food but for the second time, sluggish and inattentive service. Got overcharged on the bill too.
Slow service and they got the order wrong. But tasty food.
Second time here. Staff are friendly and efficient. Not the cheapest place but food is very good modern British cuisine. Upscale without being pretentious. It is a noisy brasserie atmosphere but for lunch works well.
It was nice to be on the first floor with big windows looking down at passers by but was very noisy as there were no partitions. Disappointed the chicken dish was not available from the pre theatre menu. Good to have a voucher for a free drink after signing up to the newsletter but disappointed my two friends were not allowed to use theirs as well even though they subscribed separately. We were told only one voucher per table even if we were to have separate bills and pay separately they could still not be used. This seems unreasonable.
Went to Browns in Victoria for a catch up with a friend. I had been here before and the food and service were excellent as usual. I had mentioned on the booking in the comments that I had an Opentable dining cheque, not realising that I was unable to use it at this restaurant. The manager was very kind and gave us a discount on our bill anyway, as I was only told about the cheque when I got to the restaurant. I will definitely go back as the restaurant, staff and food are great.
We had a table of 15 exhausted volunteers after an all-day charity event. The team at Brown’s, headed by our server, Gabrielle, were fabulous. The cocktails were tasty, the food, delicious, and the service was spot on!
Tables too small for the food and drinks served.
Two of us had a Pre-Theatre meal on a Thursday evening. Nice to see a busy bar at 6pm and plenty of people in first floor restaurant
Browns is a safe reliable booking, good food, reasonably prices and with attentive service that is not intrusive. The restaurants are a great setting for informal catch ups, and is my go to place if I want to be assured of good quality fare and a comfortable atmosphere to have a long leisurely meal without fuss.
Nice set menu, great value and food was really good. Smoothies not offered after 12pm. Found service was quite slow to take orders etc but could be personal preference. Otherwise lovely
This is the first time we dined at Browns in Victoria, the restaurant was nice laid out and had good ambience. There was a good range of food at reasonable prices. The service was good and the food quality was good. Overall it was good value for money
Excellent food and service. Lots of choice and nice tables and space. Quite pricey though and I am not sure about value for money.
Overpriced water no prices on menu for beers ciders or tea! No local beers offered. No prices on on line menu
Good and friendly service. Food was good. Perfect place for a meal before a show
Booked a table for 5 to have a high chair. Table was for 4 with no high chair offered. Lift was also broken so we had to carry the pushchair up the stairs. Took 45 minutes to order our food and overall service was slow. Food was good however so just a busy Saturday lunch service. It wouldn’t put me off going again
Our most disappointing Browns experience by far. My wife and I both had crab and avocado starter. The avocado was hard. something the prparer must have been aware of. We both also had fish cakes main dish. They were more potato cakes. Very poor. Our friend was slightly more happy with his meal.
After clearing our plates the waiter seemed to abandon us. When we finally managed to ask him for the dessert menu he disappeared. When we finally saw him again he was chatting with two girls and showing them things on his phone. We asked another (long term) waiter for the menus. He delivered them promptly, as he did the bill and card reader when we decided not to order dessert.
Brown experience was very goo overall. Food was served quickly and very high standards. would return and suggest to others.
Very good overall. Service was very good. But had to send the lemon sole back. It was all bones and no meat on
Good selection on the menu but as it was a Sunday we opted for the roast dinners. Small portions for the price, 2 small slices of beef and there was no thyme in the Yorkshire pudding as advertised. We were also a bit out of the way so not much ambiance for us
It's another chain, with Ok food and OK drink at OK prices. Doesn't do enough to make it stand out from all the rest in the area. I might go again if I was in the area, but I wouldn't rush there specially
Service wasn’t great. There was no option of salad dressing I was handed a bottle of what smelt like Sarsons vinegar as an alternative to ceaser dressing
We had a pre theatre meal. Thankfully we allowed a lot of time. The food was ok but the service was below standard. Our food took a long time to come and courses were not delivered all together. We had to chase for our main courses plus the wine.
Although the food and drink was of a good price and taste. Unfortunately the service was absolutely atrocious. We were sat in the middle of the restaurant and after 15 minutes we had not been attended to by anyone. I stood to ask for assistance and after speaking with each other and arguing over who would come to the table a few minutes later someone came to the table. We ordered our food and drink, the wine came seconds before the starters but the water after 3 times of asking arrived afterwards. The mains arrived swiftly after the starters were cleared which was fine. The final bottle of wine was ordered and took a long while. Amusingly the bill came swiftly and the card machine even swifter. It took a very long time to flag anybody down but it was not busy and there were plenty of people around just not very interested in serving us.
Booked table for 4, two months in advance, but still seated near doorway on what appeared to be two bar tables. As it was close to main entrance during December, was very draughty. Waited over 30 minutes for food.
No intension of returning again.
Good restaurant for pre theatre dinner. When we highlighted we wanted the mains to come out as soon as they were ready, they dealt with this request and we had time to eat two courses without rushing. All our dishes were very good.
Very loud, lots of large groups making a lot of noise. Felt more like a bar than a restaurant. Food was fair, nothing special.
Service was slow, but we weren't in a hurry. Only 1 waiter serving approx 30 covers in our area compared to est 6 + waiters serving the rest of the tables.
Food was delicious. Good sized portions. Festive set menu of 2 or 3 courses good value for money, with plenty choices and for all tastes.
Booked table Sunday for 9am. Doors not opened until 9.03 very cold standing outside
Great value, good food, very helpful and pleasant staff.
Food not good. Service slow.
Perfect location for the Victoria Palace Theatre for a pre-theatre meal - attentive staff, great service and good food. The upstairs restaurant is bigger than you think. Lovely pink prosecco too!
Very disappointed that service was so slow. We had 1 hr 50 minutes before we needed to leave and there wasn’t enough time for a dessert. Waiter was not at all bothered when we asked if desserts could be served in 10 minutes so we had time to eat them - he said not so we didn’t order. I guess at least he was honest!
Great location in Victoria. Try the steak and Guinness pie, it's fantastic.
Staff were friendly but aa it fot busy it wasn't as easy to get their attention. Food was good, choice good enough and the table comfortable enough.
