Browns - Nottingham
Nottingham is a vibrant, cultural city with a fascinating history, a strong industrial heritage and lots to see and do.
Browns Bar and Brasserie is a spacious and atmospheric building in the heart of the cultural castle district, near the Georgian splendour of Regent Street.
We’re close to the theatres and some incredible shops so try and take some time out from shopping, sightseeing and exploring the city and all it has to offer - and join us for coffee, brunch, dinner or one of our legendary cocktails.
There was 10 of us having a friends get together. Food was lovely and came out together with no problems. Nice atmosphere. Would visit again
There was drilling and banging going on during our lunch where the service was slow and the quality of food mediocre.
They didn't have my reservation from open table, this needs looking into
Excellent service. Hannah, our waitress, was very attentive and polite as well as helpful with recommendations.
Great menu choice always difficult to choose. Good service and presentation.
The only thing that was a let down was the speed of the service. However it was a busy Saturday night so I wasn’t put off by this and our waiter was very friendly and helpful.
Great restaurant and atmosphere. The food was wonderful and service outstanding. After dinner, we went into the bar and just enjoyed relaxing and having a few more drinks. Great night.
Great service all round food was good staff was great I would recommend to family and friends
Classy quiet bistro. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. A great place to visit as a couple and just relax.
A perfect evening with amazing three course meal with wonderful and efficient service, would highly recommend.
Good for drinks/parties. Fish Pie I ordered was terrible- thrown together, no flavour, no properly seasoned or cooked. The waiter, who was excellent, noticed I'd left it and took it off the bill. I think it was a blip, but might be nervous about going back.
Disappointing as they would not serve my guests wine as one of 2 did not have ID. Given that they were in the company of an adult and could show student cards my guests would have had to have been under 16 to not be served by law. Both were 19 years of age and obviously at local university. Ridiculous and legally incorrect stance by Browns, unlikely to return.
Had a great late lunch, just disappointed when asked when booking by OpenTable if this was a special occasion and I stated it was a 50th birthday and a small birthday cake was requested, yet nothing was mentioned or materialised at the venue.
That said, meal was very good and service just great.
Beautiful food and great service. Pleasant interior in a great city centre location
This was a very enjoyable visit to celebrate a significant birthday. We enjoyed all three courses, together with the wine and cocktails. The service was excellent. The restaurant was a little noisy for our taste, even for a Saturday evening. 20% shareholder discount was a boon.
Nice enough place just lacking that certain je be said pas
Loudest restaurant I have eaten at. Spoke to a friend this week and she said exactly the same had happened to her a couple of weeks before.
Great food, enjoyed the beef blade. Quick enough for a pre-theatre meal despite the place being busy.
Seating a little cramped (we were on two seater near entrance window).
Browns always delivers good food. Busy but great atmosphere.
Holly our server first class really looked after us .
Really enjoyed our lunch here and the cocktails. Thank you
The waiter that served us was really attentive - nothing was too much trouble. The food was lovely and the atmosphere was great. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent atmosphere, great service. Food was great, very good value for money.
Great drinks and fabulous food. Unfortunately the service was slow...waited for almost 45 minutes before they actually came to take our order. Then long wait between courses. Waiter seemed quite stressed though so maybe just an extremely busy night?
Would definitely return though.
When we arrived the wine glasses on the table were both dirty and smeared with finger marks and the water glasses had dried bits of lemon stuck to the inside and lipstick still evident on the glass...apparently "they hadn't been polished"..., starter was luke warm(smoked salmon excluded, obviously) although our server made a massive deal about the plate being really hot...which it wasn't when I touched it to see(human nature). Main courses were nice and tasty, again not piping hot...although my chips were in the middle. Deserts were nice, the ice cream had melted quite a bit when they arrived though...so we just ate it quick...it seems as though things sit a while under the keep warm lights waiting to be picked up by the servers by the way the 3 courses came out...which brings me to the "optional" service charge, 10% is added to your bill so you then have to ask the server you would be tipping to remove it which obviously would put you in an awkward and embarrassing situation and put a stain on your nice evening out, therefore you take it on the chin.
Browns early Thursday evening had a good ambiance with plenty of people eating in the restaurant. Food excellent, professional and friendly staff. Enjoyed our meal.
Quiet Monday evening. Swrvice was ok, but not exceptional.
we booked online for our 33rd wedding anniversary my husband asked if possible to have a rose on the table but we had a surprise personal dessert which was fantastic the food was amazing we could not fault anything about the evening the staff where so attentive without invading personal space I have already told everyone how good it was and we are coming again for my sons 30th birthday we stayed in Nottingham for two nights booked two restaurants the first was a big let down but Browns made it better
We've eaten in browns before including Nottingham but wasnt great experience last Saturday
My husbands starter had scallops was small and cold was 1 and 1/2 scallop with lamb croquette I ordered fish cakes of light menu and just came with side of rocket and mayo dip when we paid £11.50 I would expect slightly more for my money
Did raise both to waitress who was nice girl asked how things were at time and we explained cold and not what we ordered and she just smiled and said sorry
My pork belly was very nice for the main well presented and delivered on flavour
My husband ordered a fillet medium rare and it came well done and wasnt great piece of meat was surprised if was actually fillet it was over cooked and lacked flavour
Our friends shared platter to start and then lobster that was good and again the rib eye was tough
Didn't get chance to have desserts we came in at 6pm and left 8.30pm without desserts as the table had been re let I would expect 2.5 hours plenty of time
Cocktails were very nice but so slow took 25mins from ordering first drink to arriving at our table
I had non alcoholic cocktails and was really impressed and helped me not thinking about alcohol so that was great
I would say I've been to 7 of browns restaurants and to Nottingham about 4 times so was really dispaointed with the overal experienece we received
Online booking hadn't gone through despite having e mail confirmation. However, 10 minutes later a table for 7 was duly cleared and ready so thanks to all involved. Good food, not too exciting but simple and straight forward. Friendly staff, good value
Lovely food, Beautifully cooked. Friendly staff. Will be back
Unfortunately the waitress's attitude was poor and the issue we had with the food wasn't dealt with.
Excellent service and food. Waitress looked after us very well.
Wonderful meal served by competent well trained staff
