Browns - Sheffield
Was booked for a birthday meal so was hoping for something a bit special, but was very disappointed. The main course took over an hour and a half to come out with no explanation. People were walking out around us! Food was nothing special and overpriced.
Very good food and excellent service.
Great location and a good night out.
We usually have a very good experience here but today not so. The food was not very hot but as we were all on a tight schedule, and hungry we ate it. It was tasty but cold. I also thought rather expensive for what it was
Generally good meals and service
Not happy that 10% service is already on bill (says its optional in small print) it would be better leaving off and therefore up to individuals if a tip is left
One of the best Browns we've been to
As usual Browns was efficient, welcoming and comfortable. Layout is a bit 'old-fashioned' and not flashy or modern but that suits me. The menu and wine list are short but have well-chosen items. Food arrives promptly, hot and well served. We discovered that the more expensive wines (£50 upward) may not be in stock but we were given a good alternative. Reliable choice in central Sheffield
Had an enjoyable meal with a group of 6 celebrating our sons graduation. Good service and food.
Had a lovely pre theatre meal with festive view over the Christmas lights outside. Very Christmassy inside with pretty decorations. Pleasant attentive service.
It us always a pleasure to dine at this establishment.
We are always served very professionally and the staff are knowledgeable about the menu and cater for our needs.
We were served by Adam who was very polite and helpful during our visit.
Well done to him and all of the staff.
Friendly staff excellent food and a lovely location. We all enjoyed it.
Very good dining experience. A shame all the food on the menu wasn’t available, but what they did have was delicious! Would recommend and would return!
Good food with a nice table and very good service.
Prefer an optional tip rather urban 10% added to bill.
Very good overall but the restaurant was cold.
Browns restaurant in Sheffield has a nice view over Peace Gardens from the upstairs section. Layout quite cosy for couples and flexible enough for larger groups, with a nice bar area downstairs. The pre-theatre meal was very good value - we had 3 courses, all decent portions, nicely presented and flavoursome, with a reasonably priced bottle of wine. The loos could do with more careful cleaning but the serving staff were friendly and prompt.
Pleasant bar with varied menu and wine list. Better than most in central Sheffield but not great. Steak pie had little meat and the bubble-and-squeak was boiled and dull, but scallops were ok and fruit-crumble was tasty. My colleague’s steak was small but good.
I booked Browns in Sheffield for a group of five female friends meeting for a catch-up. We sat downstairs and I was surprised how cosy and friendly the restaurant area is. The staff were all really positive and helpful, the food was fresh and tasty and the whole meal was great value. When i went to pay i was giving the waitress a cash tip. She kindly pointed out that there was no need as service was included on the bill, which we hadn't noticed. We were so impressed with this we insisted she had the tip anyway! We will definitely be eating at Browns again.
Over all a great experience.
Good food & attentive service.
Pleasant, reliable restaurant in the city centre with a clean, quiet atmosphere and sound British dishes. Service can be a bit patchy but is well intentioned and fairly efficient. Our shared starter never appeared but the main dishes and deserts were excellent and the wine was very good
Not a bad place, service was first class. Just a shame the food was distinctly average.
Great evening for my sons 21st with family. A few bits of menu were missing but a solution was found. Just the right atmosphere for a nice meal with my wife and two lads.
Although they were unaware of our booking they gave us a table. the waiter was attentive and always available when needed without being pushy. The food was excellent and the venue had a good New Years Eve atmosphere. Overall excellent value for money and I would recommend Browns in Sheffield. We will definitely visit again soon.
Got to the restaurant to say they didn't have a table. Showed them my confirmation email and they said oh we've had problems with that app. I asked if they had plans to come off the group and they said no. Very disappointing but they did manage to find a table.
The cocktails were amazing. We tried four different ones.
The food was ok. When we complained about our starter the maitre de tried to argue that we were wrong. So much for the customer is always right. Eventually the food was taken away and replaced. The waiter was apologetic and we didn't have to pay for these.
I won't be recommending or rushing back to Browns. I think I could've got nicer food and better service elsewhere.
I chose this place for a treat for my birthday and it didn't feel like a treat, I felt ripped off.
Food was a little dry but atmosphere and service from Ed was great.
Lovely meal pre concert. Good service and food served in good time. Well placed for Sheffield city centre entertainment.
