Treated my partner to dinner for her birthday with some friends and while the food was good the service was non existent.
We were a party of six and were seated at a table for four, despite there being a large table free. This was then taken by three people! We ordered soft drinks, cocktails and starters together. Some of the soft drinks arrived after 15 minutes and some of the cocktails a good while later. One of our group had ordered water and was still waiting when the starters arrived another 30 minutes later. When the starters arrived we mentioned we were still waiting on two cocktails. These did not arrive until after the starters were finished and after we asked a second time where they were. They arrived at least an hour after we ordered them.
We then tried to order main courses but despite turning out sign to red we were ignored. Once we did manage to order the food took about 40 minutes to arrive. One of the group was dairy free and had ordered a side of broccoli which seemed to have garlic butter on it!! We had discussed with the waiter his dietary requirements because he was given the allergy menu.
Once we were finished it again took a long time to get anyones attention and when we did ask to pay it took at least 20 minutes if not more for anyone to come, by this point the restaurant was quite empty.
The food was nice but the quality of the cocktails was poor given the price. The whole experience was ruined by the non existent service by a surly server for which they still included a £32 service charge.
Lovely themed restaurant with good food. We ordered multiple drinks which were slow to arrive, this let the service down.
Terrible service. We had eaten our food before our drinks arrived. When I complained to the waitress she simply said ‘the service is bad’ ! Very disappointing.
The area of the restaurant we were seated in was very cold, to the point where other diners left before ordering their food. We asked to be moved into another area which was not received with much enthusiasm and were told to wait, which we did for over 10 minutes while they just ignored us until we asked again.
We ordered two starters, two mains and two cocktails. The starters came out after about 15 minutes, but there were no sign of the drinks. We asked three times where our drinks were, but were told they were coming.
One main course came out, which was cold, and then the server asked if that was all we ordered. We explained we had ordered another main which then took another 10 minutes to come. Our drinks eventually came whilst we were eating our main course, approximately 45 minutes after ordering.
I would not recommend this restaurant and won’t be back in a hurry.
Could do with turning the air-con off on cold days. We had to eat with our coats on.
Food quality was more "Fast food" than anything else, although the service was not particularly fast, which suited us fine at the time as we had a lot of time to kill!
I remember the food being a lot better in New York!
Overall the experiance was very good, that the staff were friendly and the table was ready and clean when we arrived, the only downside was that the person who took our order got 2 main dishes wrong and they had to be sent back and corrected.
Excellent meal. We were taken care of by the lovely team who sang happy birthday to my three year oks
Totally different to Bubba Gump in Florida. Florida was better atmosphere and food was better.
I repeated my order but the crew didnt and resulted for a double order.
Not necessarily the fault of the staff, but no hot drinks available, very few staff so service is difficult to come by.
Partner had a chill and cayenne pepper allergy which was noted, but food arrived with cayenne on it and thus could have resulted in hospitalisation, but for noticing it and having to ask for it to be cooked without.
It seemed that the details were just getting missed, and with slow service and the decision not to provide coffee's etc after the meal (really?!?!?), this was not really a good experience.
Having been to the Orlando, Las Vegas and New York Bubba Gumps, and this being a second visit to this one, there is no doubt that this London branch is way, way, below the standard that the group sets for its US operation.
The service was very slow. We waited along time for our drinks and when they arrived they were slammed on the table by a member of staff wearing their coat. My daughter's meal was not ordered by the waitress and she had to watch everyone else eat whilst patently waiting. A very poor service.
I'd read online that food takes ages to arrive and wasn't a brilliant place, however it really impressed me. Food was served quickly, it was fairly quiet, and service was friendly and attentive ~ despite the run forest run signs being up, theyd still check things were good.
I loved the food, the battered shrimps were great.
I couldn't establish if the kids still eat free beforehand, but they could when we turned up. This was a bonus, but you do pay a little more on adults meals because of it, but it was still a good price for 2x adults and 2x kids.
Only thing was the toilets. Ladies and mens weren't too clean.
The restaurant was cold, food was cold, service was slow but ok, nothing exceptional left me extremely disappointed. would not recommend
I was there for my sons 7th birthday and I did mention that on the booking yet no staff even spoke to him when at the table I will not be returning for sure.
Awful restaurant. We booked after seeing stick man at the theatre so we were all excited as I’ve seen it so many times but never been in. It was awful.
We went upstairs and felt really awkward, all the staff ignored us for what seemed like an eternity! At the stage of waiting I could see tables were still dirty from previous diners.
When we finally got seated we we’re give dog eared menus which have seen better days and they said they would be right back to take our order…..they didn’t. After 20mins of waiting (and asking twice for someone to take our order) we left. Not only was the service terrible but the restaurant was also freezing. I wish I’d read the reviews before booking which I always do as I feel really let down. I would never return
Service slow, got staters before our drinks came over, some of the staff had trouble understanding what we was asking for, no drink meau on tables. And i know its a fish based restaurant but not alot on the menu if your not a fan of fish.
The wait staff were in abundance but poor to come to the table. Our server was moody and we couldn't hear what she was saying. The food was average. It was my son's birthday and I had that on the booking form and nothing was mentioned or said to us. The restaurant looked tired and rundown. I have never removed gratuity off a bill but this time we did. There was one waiter that brought the drinks over and he smiled and was fantastic and we wished he was our server. I don't think we will go back again now because of this experience, which is a shame.
A great atmosphere with the friendliest of staff & fantastic food. Our son ate for free as we were there before 5pm & we would definitely go again.
Service was appalling. This is my second visit over 5 years and it was exactly the same back then. Will not be returning.
Ok unless you’ve been to an American Bubba Gump. Ambience and set/decor the same but some small touches would make a big difference. In the U.S the staff smile and engage with customers. Not much of that in London. They also do the ‘Forrest Gump’ quiz in the U.S which kids and adults love. Not in London. Using the number plates system for ‘Run Forrest’ or to ‘Stop’ on the table seemed to be an inconvenience for the staff here rather than an opportunity to serve. Food wasn’t hot and not enough sauce on the New Orleans Shrimp. Drinks also took forever to arrive. This is what happens when service charge is set at a standard 12.5% - the team just don’t have to work for their tips like in the States. Send the manager over to Orlando to spend time in the restaurant there and show him/her how it’s done.
We waited 45 minutes to even get a drink… our starters arrived before we got our drinks you had one person behind the bar to serve the large amount of people you had in the restaurant! It was a shambles
After coming multiple times in the past and always being very happy, we were more than disappointed with this visit and as a result will not be returning.
The good parts. We asked for a booth table on arrival which we were given and the cocktails were good.
The rest - asked for an allergen menu, this was not up to date and didn’t include everything on the menu. We asked the waitress what part of the seafood feast we couldn’t have being lactose intolerant, she then went to find out and came back just telling us what could be had off the whole menu. From reading the allergen menu we deduced we could have the dumb luck coconut shrimp and ordered this. As soon as the waitress left another member of staff came over to tell us again what could be had off the menu, and she then told us we couldn’t have the item we’d ordered, she said she was going to double check and came back to tell us we could have it.
Around 5 minutes later our drink arrived and the food. On eating one of the shrimps a long stringy part came away, making us check the rest before eating (as we know how easily seafood can make you ill).
We expressed our disappointment with the waitress who sent the manager over, and we were told we could have 15% off if we wanted.
All this after our table being booked for 4 and being seated just after that time to being paid and out at 4:45.
My son and I had a lovely lunch with great food and drink. He loved using the signs!
We went there in the memory of our American trip and the BG there
This was hardly a shade of the real thing...
The setting here is great, it’s really good fun and they have the film running on several screens. The staff were lovely, plenty floor staff about and we were met at the door etc. but the food is simply terrible. Cheap, mass fried, generic chain food at a premium price.
We ate as a family of four,
My meal was refunded as it was inedible, no one else particularly enjoyed their meal. It’s a great shame really because the potential is huge but the visit just left us all feeling pretty underwhelmed. The drinks were the only thing we enjoyed.
I wouldn’t recommend and we definitely won’t be back.
One meal was missed off our order. Everyone else had nearly finished eating by the time it came.
Service was quick and all staff were polite but the food quality and prices were way off and we were left very disappointed.
Avoid this restaurant. Nothing at all like the American restaurants. Zero atmosphere, staff totally disinterested and sruffy. Food cold, tasteless, poor quality and microwaved. Filthy restaurant with ripped booth seating. We complained and the manager was not surprised or did anything. Expensive disappointing experience. Would not return or recommend.
Staff were extremely rude from the moment we arrived. Made us feel uncomfortable from start to finish. Knowingly give us the wrong drinks order and said we had ordered it. (They had no rose wine, gave me white saying it's what I ordered. When I sent it back they still tried to charge me.)
Food was cold but flavour was good.
Price was far far too high for what you yet. Won't be back. Horrible experience.
Bubba Gump was somewhere we always wanted to try out of curiosity. We like the Forest Gump film so we thought we'd give it a shot.
As soon as we got into the restaurant, there was a weird vibe. Maybe because it wasn't the busiest service time. However, we sat down and had a look at the menu. The food on the menu looks inviting if you like shrimp and seafood.
We ordered a few dishes (I went for the burger as I didn't fancy shrimp). The waiter seemed abit off with us, not really rude but just seemed to replicate the weird kind of uncomfortable vibe.
Anyway, we waited for the food... while waiting there were further service mistakes with our drinks meaning they were taken to the wrong table. One of the drinks was returned to us after being sat with other people on another table which I wasn't impressed with as we are still in a pandemic.
Food arrived and it looked, average... not really like it did in the pictures on the menu. Everything looks and tasted bulk fried and prepared. The burger was way below average and honestly not worth £19 with fries.
After finishing what we could, we paid and made a speedy exit. In summary, I did always want to try this place, it's in one of the best locations but we won't be returning.
Had always wanted to try this place and finally made it. The food was good but packed with fries as opposed to shrimp. Glad I’ve tried it but won’t be going back in a hurry. Very expensive for essentially fish and chips but then it is in Central London. Worth trying but don’t expect to be blown away!
I’ve been here once before, and was only would’ve given the rating as something similar to this visit. I’ve also been to a branch in Florida, which was a completely opposite experience to the London restaurant.
I would love for Tim Busald to do a comparison of this branch against the ones in the USA! The US staff give it everything, down to where they sit with you and quiz you on the film… there is no experience in the London branch, nothing unique to any other restaurant nearby - the only thing they have in common with the US branches is the decor, as even the food is a let down.
I don’t understand how they were so bad.. It was half term and the restaurant was empty. The staff that were on duty were incompetent and got every single thing wrong. Surprisingly there was no tip to go with the £22 kids meals - Ridiculous pricing!
I’m very doubtful that I’ll come back for a third visit, even though I love the brand, the film and the decor. The service has been poor on the last 2 visits and I think I’d rather wait for when I go to the US again, to get a real Bubba Gump experience.
Very slow service even with a reservation and seemed lacking. Fortunately, the food came quick and was good
Firstly, I have to say the staff are lovely, however due to the obvious lack of staff it really affected the overall experience. Food service was slow, I had the Surf and Turf with mashed potatoes. The Surf part was not on my dinner so I had to ask to get it replaced which was done. The mashed potato was rubbery. My husband had the ribs and fries and he loved his.
The staffing situation was so bad the Chefs were out of the kitchen and serving customers, and cleaning tables. I hope that Bubbas get the staffing situation sorted so it does keep the good staff it does have.
Loose stools for 2 days after. Poor quality food.
I was so disappointed with this visit. I have been here before a few years ago and it was brilliant hence why I came back. The restaurant used to be very interactive with Forest gump trivia games and the staff would banter with the customers and make it a really fun experience. That’s was kind of the point of people visiting the restaurant.
We were sat around the corner from the main restaurant and where the only ones in a massive room other than a member of staff I believe, who was taking a nap in one of the booths! Obviously being sat away from everybody meant there was no atmosphere whatsoever and there was no interaction or games from the staff other than the normal taking our order. I ordered one of the cocktails which was made wrong and it basically tasted like an entire cup of syrup with ice in which was absolutely unbearable to drink. The same with the non-alcoholic cocktails that I got for my kids, they were unbearably sweet even they couldn’t drink it. My starter of Cajun shrimp was extremely tasty but almost cold.
I ordered the stuffed shrimp for mine which looked nothing like it did in the picture and the balls were just a soggy mess that tasted extremely fishy and I’m fresh. It cost over £20 for a small plate and I had two mouthfuls.
The waiter also didn’t know that the kids are supposed to eat free at that time so he had to go and check and realised I was correct. The kids couldn’t finish their meals either as the fries were so salty they were also unbearable.
I was really disappointed to have travelled a long way to visit there again thinking it would be a fun interactive experience as a family, instead we paid over £100 for an absolute load of crap I would rather of gone to McDonald’s to eat! Then I have the front to add 12.5 percent of the bill for the privilege.
We've been here many times....but the service was terrible and it wasn't busy.Very difficult to get the attention of staff they were either talking as a group or we had to ask for a member of staff.Food was good.
Our meal was ruined by a group of gypsies who were very loud and rude to there waiter and left a mess.
Avoid at all cost.
Staff are lovely but sadly food is absolutely disgusting, starters came before the drinks so very slow service. Very expensive for absolutely awful food.
I went here with my partner on New Years Eve as we planned a nice day out and we ended up leaving before we even had a chance to order a drink. We were sat with the “stop forest stop” sign for half an hour with staff and walking past and ignoring us. I stopped a member of staff and asked him to take our order and he brushed me off and pointed to his colleague and said she would serve us, to no surprise, she walked away and never came back. A table next to us were not in a great mood and we overheard them asking staff to remove the service charge and that they tried to overcharge him for his children meal, which said on the front door “kids eat free”. As soon as he mentioned the offer they removed the sign from the door and acted as if the offer never existed. Our first red flag should have been how quiet and dead the restaurant was for the location and New Year’s Eve. The couple next to us told us the food tasted like oven food out of a bag so me and my partner got up and left before we even had a chance to waste our money, which we didn’t even get served in that time anyway. Such a poor experience considering the restaurant in Universal Studios California was great. Will never return and will definitely tell all to steer clear.
Poor service, expensive for what it was and trying to hide offers available e.g kids eat free
