What is Buono?
Buono is a plate of homemade pasta in the middle of the night. Buono is grandma's recipe made by the grandchildren. Buono is staying together for a while. Buono is the flavour of a tomato, It's the smell of basil leaves, It's the rawness of olive oil. Buono is an espresso at the end of a meal. Buono is cooking with lifelong friends. Buono is the taste of home. Buono is a long standing tradition in a brief lunch! Buono is simple. It's authentic. It's smart. It's Italian. BUONO IS GOOD!
Food was great and incredibly delicious, although the portions are a little small for "Toronto" size. Would hope that their pasta dishes were a little bit bigger. Tiramisu was amazing, so dont forget to order that! Our server was very nice and made us enjoy our time there.
In one word AMAZING.
Highly HIGHLY RECOMMEND the tiramisu!!!
My carbonara arrived a bit cold, or perhaps it was because I had to wait for both of my friend’s dishes to come out. I also found it a bit too eggy for my liking but I enjoyed the texture of the homemade pasta. The service was great though, and I thought the portion of food for the price was fair. There weren’t too many guests inside the restaurant, so the space itself somehow makes it hard to hear the person next to you, unless the music was just too loud. I would go back to try another dish.
The food is excellent and the staff is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
We went to BUONO for a work dinner with about 15 people. Even with a lot of us there, the servers were very efficient and the food came quickly. The menu isn’t very expansive, but every dish we had was delicious and felt very authentic. Overall a great dinner and will definitely be coming back!
Food was very small portions and very bland. The drinks were ridiculously expensive. $3 for a can of sprite? Really?? Wine was also very expensive. Will not return and do not recommend.
The food is authentic Italian (northern). The portions are European (small compared to American sized, which for me is a good thing). I am Italian and spoke to the waiter in Italian- he was very nice and helpful. His English isn't great but he's learning! He recommended the carbonara which was excellent! The tiramisu was very good as well. I would definitely return.
Great little spot and patio for an afternoon lunch. Food was delicious and the service impecable.
Overall excellent experience. Food was delicious, authentic, and extremely good value. All servers were extremely attentive to us and our server even treated us to small tasters of dessert and digestif. The gnocchi with porcini mushrooms is unbelievable. Highly recommend!!
Amazing authentic northern fare. Excellent service, looking forward to visiting at the new location.
In the heart of the Queen Street West shopping district (though they’re about to move), this gem will astound authentic Italian food enthusiasts and wine lovers alike! Pasta is made in house, and perfectly prepared. The wine focus heads to Northern Italy, and expends East to West. A few unusual treasures are scattered amongst them, along with thoughtful wines by the glass. This was my 2nd visit while travelling thru Toronto, and it will become a regular stop every time!
The absolute best risotto with mushrooms I’ve ever tasted!
The arancini , excellent as well with a unique sauce!
Wish I had eaten here sooner. This will be a weekly stop for sure!
Food very good. Service great. Wine prices outrageous. Not a bottle of red under $60, and most over $100. That's insane. They need to put more affordable options on the menu. No reason Italian wine has to be that expensive. I had a $100 bottle that was good, but at that price should have been fantastic (it wasn't).
Great ambience, fabulous food and excellent service. Had beef carpaccio and gnocchi al pomodoro e basilica and my friend had the tagliatelle al fungi porcini. Everything was delicious
Excellent food, amazing risotto with ossobuco and the perfect espresso to finish! A must try...
we were delighted by the food, the excellent service, and the wine. Stelvio was quiet on our arrival and soon became busy. the rice balls, salad and osso bucco were amazing.
Food was great quality but overpriced for what you were getting, and flavours were too simple.
I had been looking forward to dining at Stelvio for months. When we finally ate there this past week, both my boyfriend and I were really disappointed. Neither of us liked our pasta dishes (we didn’t finish them), and we both left feeling hungry. For the prices, the portions are very small. Usually I don’t mind this if the food is outstanding, but when it was only average, we felt the value just wasn’t there.
Very nice italian original food. The old cheese with honey was fantastic.
We had a great meal on a Friday night. This was our first time to Stelvio and we were both wondering why we hadn’t stumbled upon it before. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived at 7, but was completely full by 8. The food was delicious, nicely paced and our servers were knowledgeable and professionally friendly. The decor is simple, modernist but warm....it will be perfect as the pasta bar it is about to become when the new location on Dundas opens in a couple of months. The polenta with mushrooms and sausage was excellent, rich and full of great mushroom flavour, and the veal “on a stick” was also very tasty. The pasta Bolognese has inspired me to try to master that sauce once again. We are definitely looking towards a dinner in the new location.
Dinner was very good but the service was not even subpar. Our server seemed overwhelmed and because of that, didn’t come to our table at all. We were able to order our meals and first round of drinks from her and then she avoided our table and was working with her other ones. Thankfully another server was able to get more drinks and to settle up. Truthfully, the tip should’ve went to her.
The food here was outstanding. This is not a quantity is quality estabshment. The portions here not what you would expect in most north amarica restaurants. The portions are small and athentic with an extraordinary high quality of ingredients.
Eating here was a fantastic experience and I would defenaly go here again.
Food was good but portions were very small.
Service was terrible and the servers ignored us. They did not greet us when we walked in and were very absent when we needed water.
Cute interior but would not recommend this place.
Lovely, authentic Northern Italian food. No spaghetti and meatballs here! I loved my simple arugula and fennel salad, and the raviolis with sage butter were done perfectly. It’s a little tight because it’s such a small space, and it got quite loud when a large group came in. But with enough wine you won’t mind. You may even make friends with a neighboring table!
Love this place. I went there to woo my girlfriend. It worked:)
Very average food, but the service was friendly. Seems like a place favored by students. Price-value ratio just is not there.
Food is great. Traditional northern Italian, Lombardia/Milan/Valtellina recipes. Service is fast, impeccable, absolutely not invasive pushing you to drink or consume more.
Ambient is Milan Italian style, simple, classy, artsy, minimalist, no fancy decoration, no music and you can talk without screaming (and that’s great, something rare in Toronto!)
Price is not cheap, drinks are particularly expensive, but less than other places in town. Anyway the experience is worth the money.
A place yo ho and return.
Food good, wine extremely expensive. Small portions for food
Wine was too expensive , experience and food was good
Real italian cuisine in the centre of Toronto. I am italian and I felt at home reading their menu with typical northern italian products. Staff was very friendly and kind. I loved the italian atmosphere.
Really enjoyed the food. Very authentic and different from traditional Italian food. Our Server was very friendly and informative.
Food is great and really autentic.
I’m glad they will be moving to a bigger location as the place is pretty packed (it is very popular and of course a lot of people come to this place).
Service is excellent.
A bit pricy but you need to pay for good food.
I definitely reccomend
Went for dinner on Valentines weekend. Service was very quick considering the restaurant was packed. Everything that we ordered was delicious. Portion sizes were a bit small for the price but it was enough to fill us up. The tiramisu for dessert was the best I have ever had. 10/10 would reccomend.
The portion were way too small for the price. The ambience was nice, the food was average. Not coming back here again!
Overall the experience was pleasant - the atmosphere was not too noisey, the wait staff was very attentive and food came out at a good pace. My girlfriend and I shared shared a salad, gnocchi, and rabbit. The salad was excellent and had good presentation. The gnocchi and rabbit felt like they were missing something (can't put my finger on what, though).
The 2 ravioli dishes and Italian draft beers are perfectly satisfying.
Celebrated Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine selection. we liked trying the different types of Italian cuisine that Stelvio had to offer! Would definitely come back here, and will be recommending to friends and fam!
I found the service to be unnecessarily slow for such a small establishment, I found myself trying to catch the eye of our server way too much. The food was a bit disappointing and the portions were small. Don't go to this restaurant If you're hungry.
Excellent food and service, you can tell a lot of care and thought went into the creation of this menu. From the items they serve to where their ingredients are sourced from. Fantastic idea and execution, 10/10 would recommend!
