Really enjoyed my meal
I've enjoyed Busaba in the past but this time they seemed to be having issues with service and food quality during the dinner rush. The server repeatedly left the table without letting us get a word in edgewise, to ask for silverwear or another drink. In addition, my green curry arrived lukewarm. These issues were raised with another service member, who was kind and receptive to our concerns.
A lovely venue with tasty food. Had some problems with our order delaying our food - other guests had their food on time. They made up for it without charging us a penny. Manager was very friendly and apologetic.
The restaurant looks great and is done to a high standard. The food is fine but not great. The starters and the main course arrived together which wasn’t great. We weren’t told this. It may suit them to do it this way but it spoils the meal and is not a quality way to do things. I also don’t like the shared tables - they are large squares and it is difficult to sit comfortably and relax.
Always a pleasure eating fresh and very tasty food. Also excellent for pre theatre dinner. The choice of fresh drinks and juices is great. Love the squids and all the curries.
The food was alright, I’ve been to Busaba many times before and it feels like with each visit the food tastes less great. Also a few favorites had been taken off the menu since my last visit
Went to Busaba for a pre theatre lunch - as always the food is great and service good. The nice thing was that weren't hurried even though the food came quickly. Only downside is that they do not have any dessert! What a pity! Overall a great place and always reliable.
Good food and good atmosphere, great for a quick hassle-free bite.
Absolutely fantastic Thai food! This was my first visit at this branch, although I had previously been at another branch many years ago when visiting London. This time, I had the calamari (still amazing and a highlight of the menu), the fish cakes (excellent), and the Sen Chan pad that, which was amazing. Service was good but not great - a little slow. But the food more than made up for it!
When they say spicey they mean SPICEY! 🔥🌶
The food was very good but the place is too noisy
Loved everything about it! If we lived in London would go on a regular basis!
The waiter took our order straight away as we sat.. we received our appetisers after 30 minutes and we asked for side plates to eat our appetisers but we did not get them until after 15 minutes!!! We didnt receive our main dishes and after 1:30 hour we gave up.. we paid for the appetisers!!!
Very poor service, not recommended and will never go there again
We were 6 pax, it was a Saturday night in Leicester Square, so I can understand they were busy but I think they were short staffed, the waitress helping the hostess on reception desk didn't know how to operate the "bookings system" so even though we had a booking we had to wait 30 min to be seated and then 35/40 min for our food.
The food was cold when it arrived so we had to send 2 main courses back, they served the curries 5 min before they served the rice so then the curries got cold. The thai calamari was overcooked (hard and dry) and the tempura prawns were under-cooked (grey inside the batter).
I go to busaba a lot but this experience was probably the worst I have had.
Service was really bad.. we arrived and had to wait for 10min at the door as nobody at the entrance to help. They brought the food without cutlery and plates. We were sharing between the 4 of us. Once we asked for them we had to wait for like 10min. So food was getting cold and we couldn’t eat it. We ordered a second round of drinks that made it 20min later.
Really great menu served well.
Food was good but it was very busy and we waited over 45 minutes for our food to arrive
Our food took 45 mins to come and we were not informed that service would be slow, even getting the bill took about 20 mins. Maybe it was just a bad night but communication from the staff should have been better. The food was tasty.
I would avoid pre theatre time. It's way too busy, food takes ages, orders missed. Nearly missed the start of the show ..was in there nearly two hours !!!
Food is really good but the service was incredibly poor. Had to wait 10 min to even see a waiter and asked to order something else but after 15 min I just left instead.
A rebranded Busaba eatai. If I’d know I would not have booked. This is a chain that’s gone very down hill over the years. Once it was atmospheric, good ambience, good food - now it’s a Thai MacDonalds. It’s a real shame. A chain resting on its laurels.
We needed a quick food on Friday night before cinema and this is a perfect place. Aubergine curry dish was absolutely outstanding, even though I am a meat lover. I will definitely come back here for a dinner or lunch again! Special thanks to friendly and pleasant stuff who acted very professional on such a busy evening!
I really like the food in Busaba - its full of flavour and not something I would be able to cook at home myself. I like the buzz of the restaurant and the shared tables, but I think there weren't enough waiting staff and I had to get out of my seat several times to flag a waiter down.
I love Busaba. Such good food every time and in my eyes for a really good price. Best Thai chain restaurent about.
There was a problem with the kitchen and 2/3 of the menu items were not available. The kitchen closed at 10pm and the restaurant closed at 10:30pm. At 10pm the staff shut off the music changing the atmosphere even through we were just starting our meal. It was odd to be eating in a quiet restaurant so abruptly. The food available was very good though.
It was a horrible New Year‘s Eve experience. Booked a table at 10.30pm through opentable and was not notified that they were closing at 11pm. When we ordered, several options were no longer available and even rice was no longer available - in a Thai restaurant! The restaurant looked quite dirty already and we waited a long time for our food as well. The staff tried hard but overall it was a very bad experience despite the food being pretty good. Don‘t know whether opentable was misleading through the booking option but clearly the restaurant should have called beforehand and should have rejected the booking for just 30min. A very negative experience!
As some reviewers have previously indicated, one needs to be very patient whilst dining in this place.
It took approximately 20 minutes for the waiter to come round to take our order after we were handed the menu.
Food is just ordinary and not very exciting. Not the usual burst of textures and flavours one would expect from Thai cuisine. Food quality was like average takeaway food. Not impressed. A few things on the menu were not available when we visited as well (such as the mango lassi and smoothies).
After we finished our main courses, it took another 27 minutes (I thought, what the heck, let's just time this) for the waiter to bring the dessert menu.
And still waiting to receive via e-mail the bill so that I can see the breakdown I have requested, since only 1 glass of wine was ordered, but two glasses were served.
Therefore, 3 major problems identified: (a) bad service (b) so-so food and (c) long waiting times
Would not go there again unless some changes will be done.
The aubergine curry needs more balance of flavours - spice, sour, sweet. It was a bit bland.
Good food, bench seats ok
Food is great, patience is virtue.
Items on menu not available (hey we only wanted Salad). The satay was small and weird taste. The seafood in the noodles were not cooked through. The whole experience was rushed as they wanted us out before closing time.
When I asked why simple Thai items were not available (Thai Iced Tea is a standard) we were told this was a “fusion” Asian restaurant, as the restaurant name did not indicate anything but a standard Thai ~ disappointing experience.
We have eaten Thai around the world including Thailand and just wanted Thai food as we had been wallowing in Christmas food all week.
Fab food as always but the service was a bit chaotic with drinks spilt on guests and parts of dishes not arriving until other bits were cold (the sauce for the Katsu curry for example, we had to ask 3 times before it arrived)
Could have been better. They didn’t want to provide us the table af first. Provided wrong order. Took the food from the table and changed it..
Was a good experience food was good
Restaurant was busy, the staff got our orders mixed up and we waited a long time for food. I don’t think the service or standard of food were that great for this chain. I have had better
The only word I can think of to summarize is 'bleh'. We each ordered a small plate, a main course, and a glass of wine - none of which was good enough to be finished. The food was spicy, but still flavourless. The wine bland, and the drink options unimpressive. The service was slow. We had to wipe bits of food from previous guests off the table and seats - even the menus were sticky. Anyone of those things alone I would have shrugged off. However, together they make for a dining experience that stands out as remarkably bleh. The best I can say is that it wasn't terrible.
Had been looking forward to my visit and the food, especially the calamari and pad thai. Unfortunately very disappointed with the calamari slightly greasy and not crispy at all. The pad thai was very greasy and oily, unable to eat it. Did mention this to the waitress when she collected the plates and she was suppose to get back to me but that did not happen.
Feel like they could hire more staff as the staff were super busy
The Pad Thai was not good, it took 40 mins to serve us and at the end the waiter just took the tip without asking
Excellent food excellent drinks. Service alittle slow at busy times (friday night) but food is perfect so we dont mind waiting.
