Fifteen years on, Busaba still offers a much coveted, flavoursome selection of freshly prepared salads, stir fries and curries. The menu also features Asian-inspired juices and smoothies, as well as a simple yet selective wine list.
Only one piece of tofu in a Tofu Pad Thai and poor service on this occasion (had to ask for water twice and order was wrong with the bill then not corrected). Unfortunate as we've eaten at other Busaba restaurants in Stratford and Bird Street which have both been excellent.
Visited for valentines dinner, we had the pre-show menu, it was a bit disappointing, we both had the chicken winglets as a starter, they were pretty nice. For our mains we had the duck noodles which was enjoyable, some of the meat was a bit over done and some chewy fat in there, my parter ordered the chicken green Thai curry which was disappointing to say the least; the chicken was dry, the bowl was 3/4 rice and there was a drizzle of the curry sauce which didn’t even cover the chicken . Wouldn’t recommend those as mains! Overall the service was good, food came quick and the servers were very nice. The atmosphere was just right, we went at 5:30 and we left by 6:30, it was pleasant , just wish we had ordered different mains.
It was my wife’s birthday and they were excellent with gluten-free options for her. The food was incredibly tasty and the service prompt and friendly. I genuinely couldn’t fault it. It was not an expensive night out
Great place to eat before the theatre, but wouldn't recommend if you want a leisurely meal to catch up with friends,it's a bit too noisy & it's shared tables.
The food was Ok but I think our mistake was going for the pre theatre menu because it tasted like it had been cooked a while ago and kept warm. I would advise going for the main menu as then it would be cooked fresh. The staff were friendly and efficient and it is a nice atmosphere. It is also good value
Good food and drinks, service a bit slow because the place was so busy
Booked a table to be told it’d be a 20 minute wait...pointless.
Initial impressions were good. Two of three main courses arrived. Had to remind about the third twice and it arrived just before we had to leave for the theatre. The late dish was poor and wasn’t worth eating.
The Service was just very slow, even though there were very few people there most of the time we were there (it started to become busy shortly before we left but that should have had no impact on us). It was difficult to understand why. No one came to or even near our table and it was very difficult to order drinks and then food. Unfortunately that rather ruined the experience as we spent a lot of time wanting to sort that out and not being able to do so.
Tables are positioned so badly that you can’t get in and out and servers often can’t get to you. Took ages for drinks to arrive. Coffee took so long it had gone cold. Great food but poor layout and overcrowding let it down.
Quick delicious and good value
We dine regularly at this restaurant and thoroughly recommend it.
On this occasion the two dishes of beef our party ordered were uncharacteristically tough and chewy to eat. After we told our waitress this at the end of the meal she arranged for the manager to speak to us. (we could not get hold of her before this as it was very busy due to the Christmas period)
The manager was apologetic, polite and arranged for the beef not to be charged on the bill. This was good customer service from a restaurant that I would usually give each dish 5/5 stars.
Had a really lovely time. Even though it was arguably the busiest time of the year - Mid December in Leicester Square - we (9 people) got seated immediately and the food took about 20 minutes to come. Some of the food was ridiculously spicy but the pad Thai meals were delicious. I will be going back there.
Good thai food
Nice food and very helpful and attentive staff.
Great place with nice staff and outstanding food.
I had to wait extra 10 mins for my main course when all else had arrived but servants were close to on point about it and did what they could.
Over all very happy and will come again.
Would definitely go back. We had a good time - service was great
Hidden away off the beaten path of Leicester Square, just far enough to be reasonably quiet even for pre-theatre dining. They do a great value set menu for pre-theatre, and food is delivered promptly and efficiently. Don't miss the coconut ice-cream....
This was my third time at Busaba Leicester Square and I've decided not to go back.
The first time was over lunch, the food was delicious and the service was ok. The second was dinner, the food was good and the service poor.
Unfortunately on Saturday the food was poor and the service was up there with the worst I have ever seen. There was clearly a problem with being understaffed or being too busy, and yet nothing was done to rectify. The restaurant was still taking walk-ins, delivery orders and trying to find tables for guests who arrived so late their table had already been given away.
I was on time and yet after 10 minutes still no one had greeted me. The late group of 8 arrived after us and got the Host's attention before he'd had time to greet us or the couple in front (who also had a reservation). Instead of telling them he couldn't help he was then off to the other side of the restaurant to find them a table.
I had to ask to be seated and say I did have a reservation twice. Not that this was checked. I had said it was my friends birthday so no one in the restaurant knew.
The person who sat us down said he would go get water but never came back. We then had to get a staff members attention to order. We ordered Pad Thai which was thankfully put on rush. It arrived in a good amount of time so thankfully we didn't miss our show; however had clearly been batch cooked. My tofu was soggy and half my meal was cold. Our drinks still hadn't arrived so the server had to go find them.
Meanwhile I contemplated whether to say anything about my food but noticed a family behind us had just had to go and find knives for their food, so decided it was pointless.
The staff weren't sticking to their areas and were run off their feet. This made the whole ambience seem stressful and would make a great textbook example of how not to run a restaurant.
To top it all off... No one asked how our food was and when we asked for the bill we were given the wrong one.
Service was awful, it felt like we were a nuisance and every request or order was a chore for them (simple things like asking for tap water and ordering a bottle of wine). No waiter took initiative to serve us and we had to flag them down to order starters/mains/drinks. I will not be revisiting and have recommended to those going to the theatre to avoid this restaurant. I've given 2 stars rather than 1 as the food was fairly good.
Nice spot for pre-theatre dinner. Service was ice and professional, and quick. Good value for money, pretty decent Pad Thai.
Great fresh Thai food - lovely range. Service was good and friendly and the place feels cosy and is beautifully appointed.
A great place to go for a pre theatre dinner with a group. Super set menu with the food arriving fast and it was delicious too. The service were great so thank you Busaba.
The food was incredible and amazing portion sizes too! Atmosphere was great and everyone was so helpful. Will definitely be back here again :)
Food was pretty okay for a chain restaurant - even tho I got the wrong side dish from what I ordered. it’s the service that really spoilt our experience. Hardly any waiters and the ones we could see were hanging around having a chat near the tills. It took a very long time for anyone to come and ask us if we were ready to order and an absolute age before we could finally flag someone down so we could pay. Lots of sitting around and waiting for someone to pay us attention. We had waiters serving drinks to the people sitting next to us and when we tried to get their attention to either order or ask for the cheque they ignored us. Thought it was a massive cheek to impose a 12.5% service charge .... I don’t like to pay for a service I didn’t get
Decent quality of food and the service was nice - we chose the restaurant because of the proximity to an even we were going to. The booking was found quickly on their system and they sat us down reasonably fast. The food was nice sized portions and they had a good grip on allergens - my wife could not eat gluten or soy. The seating arrangements are a bit different if you're not used to them - it is canteen style so you share a table with other diners. If you like Thai food, this is worth a visit for pre-theatre or for the beginnings of a night out. Will be going again.
Great food as always but service hit and miss as always!
Really wonderful customer service
Tasty food with authentic Thai flavours. Excellent service in ambient surroundings.
Food was fabulous
Good service, but food could be a bit more authentic and less bland
Green curry was excellent. Prawn stir fry portion was small and not saucy enough but tasty.
Ordered from pre-theatre menu. Expected green chicken curry to arrive separate to rice instead curry poured onto mound of rice, so no sauce as all soaked into green rice with lumps of chicken on top. Spicy winds nice but satay different to any others I have had before. Overall not a great experience and would go for main menu if I ever visited again which is unlikely given the choice available in central London
Beautiful Location & very good food. I recommend to all. Kids menu is also available.
Poor quality non Thai tasting food. Cold/luke warm food. Stale crackers which i had to return twice and said i would not pay for as both times crackers were stale. Not worth the money and food not good.
This used to be my favourite Thai food in London. To be specific I generally had Jungle Curry, so full of flavour and wonderfully spicy.
What's happened to you Busaba... You're just another mediocre chain serving average food. You've sold your Soul to big bucks capitalism.
Our server was helpful and pleasant, so had a reasonable time, only because of her.
Excellent food though an odd Thai green curry l. Service when we got it was good but had to wair a bit as very busy. Location is excellent
Great service and great food at reasonable price.
I was celebrating my birthday at Busaba and I had such a great time.
The customer service was fantastic.
My guests and I were also given free glasses of Prosecco which was a really lovely gesture.
Busaba has always been one of my favourite restaurants and that won't be changing anytime soon.
Thank you so much to the team for making my birthday so special.
Really enjoyed my meal
