Cabotte Ratings and Reviews
I love the feel of this place which is based on the food and wines of Burgundy. The restaurant was busy yet the atmosphere was relaxed. We really enjoyed our fresh mackerel and gnocchi starter and the legendary tarte tatin was so worth it! We will definitely return to try more dishes. Service was well-timed by friendly, knowledgeable and efficient staff. The wine list is long and to make it easier to choose there is also a short list and wines range from affordable to expensive.
Small, exquisite restaurant that would be right at home in Paris. At a good bistro in Dijon a few weeks ago we had traditional Burgundian starters of duck egg poached in red wine and also ham and parsley terrine; they were delicious, but at Cabotte last night they were even better! Two fish mains-- hake with cassoulet and roasted skate wing in reduced bouillabaisse liquid-- were flavourful and perfectly cooked. There's an excellent wine list featuring mainly Burgundies, characteristically pricy but fair, with quite a few rare gems. Service is friendly and attentive, with unusually personable staff. Based on friends' recommendations, we had high expectations, which were surpassed by last night's experience. Outstanding!
Having worked in hospitality for nearly 20 years and almost monthly coming into London this is the first place where i have left asking myself "When can i come here again?" Its the great balance of simple cooking done to an extremely high level, combined with a wine list that makes your jaw drop to the floor with the options available and how low the prices are.....not just for London but in general.
A lovely dining experience, everything was of excellent quality and attention to detail was very good. The menu selection is small which is a shame for those who do not eat fish. The wine list is vast and impressive! Had a very good meal, superb quality. Will definitely go back.
Had a lovely meal here on Friday night - the restaurant is small and so gives it a nice, cosy feeling - even if you are probably going to end up quite close to the neighbouring table.
The food was really good - both of our mains were excellent, the pork and the guinea fowl; the dessert choice cheese was perhaps a little small and not quite the same standard as the main. Wine list was very impressive - albeit getting expensive very quickly, however the sommelier's choice on the wine-list was excellent, but you'll probably end up spending at least £37-40 for a decent bottle (though the option for 4 figure sums is available!).
Would definitely recommend as a great place and easy to get to!
You don't only come to Cabotte for the impressive wine list. The food in itself is delicious but then you have the best of both world. The service is efficient but without being overly intrusive. The tarte tatin is delicious and well worth the wait at the end. Of course, the wine list is excellent and there is plenty to choose from for all kind of budgets. The room is small and the tables are quite close to each other, so can get quite noisy at times...
This was recommended by a Master of Wine for a business dinner with a wine professional in town and it did not disappoint. The menu and wine list is exceptional and the service from Eleanie was very on point, but relaxed at the same time. First class and a new favourite.
Cabotte is a real find. An authentic French restaurant in the heart of the City that is neither pretentious or overpriced. The food and service was simply outstanding . The menu is not huge, about seven or eight choices for each course, but it's nicely varied. There's a very extensive wine list too. Most of our six diners had different dishes and every one of us loved our selections. All the plates were beautifully presented. The service was friendly and attentive but always discrete. I can't fault it and will definitely be back.
This is the best sort of authentic, buzzy small French restaurant in the middle of the City. Interesting, affordable wine list.
Excellent food (cheek bourguignon and honeycomb/orange/yoghurt dessert recommended). Friendly, unintimidating staff. Tables reasonably spaced for privacy.
We visited my son in London and brought him to this restaurant, having read a very good review in The Week magazine. We were so pleased that we did. The food, wine and service were all excellent. We showed the review we'd read to the staff and they were really pleased. We would definitely go again.
