We booked our reservation on Open Table but they did not have it the reservation when we arrived. We were early for our 3:30 reservation but The restaurant closed at 3:30. Not sure what the problem was. They did seat us but let us know, we are closing in 20 minutes.
One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had........steak undercooked.....sent back....everyone was finished eating when I received my steak back........still undercooked......service terrible....attitude even worse
Amazing restaurant. Our first flavor of Paris and it was a really good one!! We were tired and jet lagged and they accommodated and earlier seating. Very grateful :)
Well worth the visit. Service is impeccable. Cuisine very good and atmosphere pleasant
Nice place with nice food, but the service wasn’t very good.
First, the place was nearly empty and they tried to seat us at a table as far away from the windows as possible, in a remote corner. Luckily we asked for a window table and, after checking with higher-ups, they were able to accommodate us. The food was average but the prices were outrageous, even for Paris. Would never return.
The quality of the food was really disappointing. The onion soup was bland, the accompaniments with the main were incomprehensible and not very tasty. The staff was not to blame: they made a lot of effort to provide excellent service. However, in the end it's the food that counts, and it just wasn't up to standard.
Aniversario
We loved our dining experience at Cafe de la Paix. Our food was amazing and we had the best service by our waiter Herve! He made us feel so welcome and made excellent recommendations.
A fantastic evening thanks to a great service from the restaurant manager who helped me address the original inconvenience at arrival and looked after me all evening with great care to the rest of the waiters who made me relax with fresh selection of oysters, great fish selection for mains with delightful crustacé sauce and the famous millefeuille to finish accompanied by nice Calvados! Thks again
First, upon walking in we were directed to wait at the bar. We thought we might grab a quick drink before getting seated, but there was no bartender, and no one ever showed up. When we were finally brought to the table, I ordered a Belvedere Martini. I had to wait about 25 mins before I actually got the drink, and they brought me out a Stoli Martini instead, charging me 24 euros for it to boot. Then I ordered the french onion soup which came out cold and tasted bland, so it got sent back. A shrimp platter came out with large prawns that were completely encased in their shells and nearly impossible to open and with no accompaniment. The main course of duck I had was actually fair, but nothing to rave about. My spouse’s meal (Veal Milanese) was extremely bland and just not good. Dessert was the only saving grace. The pastry chef is excellent, because it was just perfect. Overall, for the 200+ euro price tag, the experience was horrible, especially for a 30th Birthday Celebration. The food and the service were sub-par at best for a restaurant that pulled such high reviews and at that price point. We will never return and I would recommend that if you are considering this restaurant, simply choose a different venue altogether.
An exceptional dining experience!
We celebrated my 60th birthday at the Cafe and we were not disappointed! Although there is a major refurbishing project outside, the inside was beautifully decorated with old-world appointments that were absolutely stunning. The waiters were so attentive and kind! The entrees were delicious, I had the duck and it was divine. The waiter brought us champagne at the end, gratis! I was so surprised. Everything was lovely, the way dining is supposed to be, like in the good old days!
I have been dining here for more than forty years (every time I come to Paris). It has never disappointed! Last night we shared barnacles, razor clams, seared tuna in a avocado sauce, and Omble Chevalier as the entre. We finished with a terrific cheese selection. The wine list is somewhat restricted but the prices are very reasonable. The dining room is typical of French bistros; outdoor dining is impractical (for us) because the restaurant is situated on a busy corner. All in all, if you are looking for seafood Le Dome is one of the best restaurants in Paris!
This is an awesome restaurant with great service.
Food was mediocre- nothing special. I did enjoy my French onion soup and my husband liked his ravioli, however the lobster was a tad bland. We were still a little hungry at the end. Server was terrible. He was rude, inattentive and towards the end of my meal he took my drink that I was not finished with and put it away. Dessert looked good but at that point I was so aggravated with him that I decided to go elsewhere. I will not be returning.
Service slow and beef RAW. Sent it back twice.
Booked this beautiful restaurant on the day ready for a traditional romantic evening meal. Stunning restaurant with delicious food. However disappointed with the service because although we explained we cannot have pink meat due to pregnancy which the waiter understood completely and we checked twice it would be cooked well done the steak fillet came out pink! when we asked to be cooked fully again this was fine but then came out again pink! Very apologetic but its a serious error with the situation.
Dennis was a delight and took care of our every whim. Being American we were prepared for some...disapproval. There was nothing but DELIGHT!!
Just Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- Bring and your Wallet!
Our last dinner in Paris was perfect, thanks to Cafe de la Paix. The restaurant is old world beautiful, like eating in a palace complete with painted ceilings. Our captain and our waiter took wonderful care of us without being intrusive, but were happy to engage in conversation when we initiated it. Our party of 4 ordeded steaks, salmon and sole, all were cooked to perfection and the sole was deboned tableside, fantastic presentation.
We loved this restaurant and will definately go back next time we're in Paris but the only disappointment was some of the other diners. Several parties came in dressed in sweaty tee shirts, shorts, flip flops etc. I know there was a heat wave but still, it just seemed disrespectful to this lovely place.
(PS, just a note, get a cocktail menu before you order one, they are pricey.)
After visiting the Opera (tour; not a play), don’t miss lunch at Cafe de la Paix. If yoy like peace and quiet, ask for a table inside.
Light recommendation. We thought the restaurant was beautiful, very nice decor, elegant, etc. The food was very good, but not the best we had during our 4 days in Paris. The most disappointing thing was the way the patrons were allowed to dress - had at least a dozen people walk by our table dressed in jeans, gym shorts, tee shirts, etc. - despicable especially given the web-site's indication of "business casual" attire - felt like we were at an american bbq, not a higher end restaurant - really appalling. Overall value was moderate.
This was the best food experience that we received in Paris. We really appreciated it. The waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. He gave us great suggestions on what to order.
GREAT cafe experience in Paris. I had a cocktail and salmon tartare - both were awesome!
Great. Shame about the dirty toilets.
Everything was magnificent. Lovely experience!
Incredible!!!
I regret my daughter and I experienced a severe stomach upset after eating the pea and cheese starter
Best desert I’ve had in my life, great meal generally and very well balanced.
A wonderful truly French dining experience. From the frescos on the ceiling to the outstanding customer service this is a traditional French experience that cant be missed
We come here every time we are in Paris. It’s one of our favorite places. The service is amazing.
The food and service were excellent. The steak frites was perfect and the beet salad was delicious.
Great experience from eating with them over an important international business meal. We had a private lounge and the dinner was extremely well managed.
Wonderful!
Everything about this place was special an very French
Bad “cuisine” for such an emblematic place
Should change the owners
