Everything was delicious. Would recommend it to my friends.
Excellent food, service and drinks.
Excellent service, food prepared perfectly and good wine selection. I would highly recommend.
I had an amazing meal during my work trip. The service was outstanding. Pasta Carbonara was simply delicious, I have had a lot of pasta in my lifetime and cook at home a lot. Therefore I just have a great appreciation for all the amazing flavors and quality in one dish. Hat goes off to Chef! Would definitely recommend if you want good Italian food!
The pepperadell with mushrooms and sausage was delicious. The rigatoni looked good. I would like to try more pasta dishes. The dry-aged steak was not up to snuff and I would not recommend it. Thanks.
It was my wife’s 40th birthday and she chose to go to her favorite restaurant. I was excited to see an open table special that said 2 courses and a drink for $30. When we arrived, the server explained that it was an extended weekend Valentine’s Day menu. The special would not apply and worse yet her favorite dish was not available. She enjoyed her meal and the bread was phenomenal but my rib eye was about 1/3 fat and both of our drinks weren’t anything to write home about. She usually raves about the blue cheese stuffed olives but she walked away very disappointed. I also missed out on an opportunity to earn 1,000 bonus points through open table due to choosing the 2 courses and 1 drink special but instead I just earned a disappointing night.
Our first time at Cafe Mezzanotte for a Valentine's Day dinner. Outstanding meal including great pre-dinner drinks. We had the Chilean Sea Bass which was large and cooked perfectly and an equally outstanding Fettuccine Bolognese -- both of which where some of the best we have had anywhere. The service was also excellent as was the atmosphere. We will make this one of our favorite Wilmington, DE restaurants to go.
We went on an early Friday evening and there were very few diners. Service was excellent, environment was nice. I wish the $16 scallop appetizer which consisted of 4 medium size scallops either had a lower price or had been wrapped in bacon. They tasted good but not great. The rigatoni and shrimp entree (5 shrimp) tasted excellent, the rigatoni al dente. The beef filet medallions were ordered medium well (I know, how could we?) and they were prepared exactly that way—-they were dry as a result. The desserts were modest in size but so were their prices. Overall would go back, we had a good experience.
Week days service is great, but on
Weekends, it needs help.
Enjoyed the Saturady night special which was excellent. The wine was reasonably priced. Also, no rush or pressure to leave!
Server Dawn was exceptional. We enjoyed the experience and food was very good also
Cafe Mezzanote has been a favorite of ours for years! It’s well worth the trip into Wilmington for a great meal, and this was no exception, especially since it’s perfectly located to enjoy a great meal before a show at the Playhouse in the DuPont Building!
My wife started with a bowl of pasta e fagioli which was delicious. Her Lobster Ravioli was just what you would expect - great lobster in a tasty ravioli! My tortellini crab was extra delicious with nice size little balls of crab in the tortellini! I can’t forget to add that the bread was fresh, hot and light! Perfect for sopping up some of the extra cream sauce on my plate!
For dessert I had the chocolate soufflé which I loved. Very close to a molten lava cake and perfect for chocolate lovers like me!
I would be remiss without mentioning the excellent service throughout the evening by our server, Colleen!
Nice restaurant in downtown Wilmington that we had forgotten about and decided to try again on Saturday night. I would have rated it higher, as the food and setting was great, and many of us took advantage of he special, which was a good value. My problem was with the service. Our server was very nice and attentive (when she appeared), but they seemed to be understaffed and we had to wIt a long time to complete drink orders, place food orders, get water refills, etc.
This is my first time visiting and it was fantastic. I couldn't have asked for a better server, better food, or better ambiance. Everything was great!
A perfect NYE! Food was delicious!
Italian Christmas Eve
Christmas with a friend
My wife and I were in the mood for Italian and wanted to try somewhere new. We made reservations and arrived 15 minutes early as our commute from NJ was better than expected. We were seated right away, so far so good. I ordered the tortellini soup which took 25 minutes. There was a couple seated next to us 20-25 minutes after us and not only did they receive their appetizer before us but their entree as well. They paid for their meal and were gone while we were still eating our entree. The food was tasty but not worth the long wait. The chef/owner did come out and greet a few tables which I thought was odd, why not greet all your patrons. I truly believe our long wait was due to the server as all of her tables seemed to be moving slow. If you want over priced average tasting food and slow service then this is the establishment to visit. Would not go back if it was free!
10 of us went to enjoy a meal the Saturday after Thanksgiving before seeing a movie. Food was delicious as always, and service was terrific. It is a little pricey but it is worth it.
The hotel I was staying in recommended this place and I’m certainly glad they did! My server was pleasant and knowledgeable, and very attentive. She recommended the Branzino which was absolutely stellar! I had the pleasure of meeting the Chef, Sergio, who served the fish for us at the table which was quite the show. It’s unfortunate I don’t come into Wilmington more as this restaurant left me wanting for more. Anyone staying in Wilmington I highly suggest checking this place out, it is a true gem.
Great food, great drinks. Never disappointed!
I had high hopes but was terribly disappointed. We arrived for our reservation on time and were seated within a few minutes. After waiting more than 15 minutes we asked if anyone was serving our table. We eventually did have a server take our drink, appetizer and entree orders at the same time. We also told the server that we were seeing a show so time had become an issue, the reply should have been that they would ensure our meals were prioritized, bu instead it was that it depended on how quick the kitchen was.
A full 45 minutes after our reservation time we received our appetizers. When our entrees arrived we had to ask for the check since we would have to eat quickly and leave.
The food was uneven with some dishes being very good while others were lacking.
Unfortunately we won’t be back. For a show night and a full restaurant they were terribly understaffed.
Went on a Saturday pre Theater. Very busy but our server did a great job.
We always have a good meal at Cafe Mezzanotte. The food and service is good and the drinks are excellent.
We were a party of eight and most were happy with their meal. The room was quiet and we were able to converse easily. Service was prompt and the server was very pleasant. The location was excellent and convenient to the theater.
The lunch menu has many choices that are reasonably priced. Portions could have been a bit larger, but the food was very good. The amaretto almond dessert cake was delicious and I would order it again.
We went to the restaurant for the first time on a Thursday night for our anniversary. We have lived in Wilmington for 25 yrs and have never been there. I am so upset that I was not informed about how great this place is! We will definitely be back. Great service, great drinks, excellent food. Loved every minute of it!!
The atmosphere was charming, the waitstaff was very attentive, the food was excellently prepared and attractively presented. An awesome experience
It is a real find. The food was delicious, “high class” Italian cuisine. The chef even came to our table and talked with us for a bit. We came to celebrate a birthday, but we won’t wait for another special occasion. We’ll definitely be back.
Disappointing. Went for outdoor dining on a late summer night. Seating was fine. That’s about it.
Appetizers were slow coming out. Calamari was bland. Five salads showed up, but we only ordered four. Fifth guest waited for another five minutes for their app. All salads and apps tasted like supermarket salads. Dressings seemed out of a jar.
Entrées were next. Ugh. Again showed up at vastly different times. One pasta dish seemed microwaved because some fettuccine was hot but some was iced cold. Certainly not made fresh to order. The tomato sauce was the horrendous. Right out of a can. No seasoning. No texture. No flavor. My Fra Diavalo was a disgrace which I didn’t eat. The shrimp on it were fine, but the pasta and sauce shamefully - pasta not cooked well and no spice. NO SPICE IN A FRA DIAVALO. none!!!
Told the waitress about our disappointment when she eventually came back to our table but she that’s a shame and that was it. No manager ever stopped by. We paid and left.
No way I would recommend or go back.
Always a great meal. My favorite restaurant in Wilmington!
Our group of six thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. Our entrees included the filet mignonette, veal chop, as well as a couple of the pastas. Those who had dessert were delighted.
This was such a great find! The food and the drinks were superb. This is the first place I’ve been to that even makes its own gluten free pasta. I will definitely be going back.
A most pleasant experience.
A perfect venue for a relaxed pre-theatre dinner. Food was outstanding including the special pasta dish and veal. An elegant alternative to the traditional Italian joints on Trolley Square.
Every time our family goes to Cafe Mezzanotte we are impressed by the food and the service - it is not crowded when we go because I think we may be earlier than their normal crowd, but I almost hesitate to post this review because it more people knew about it I would never get a table!
very limited menu but if you want some good food before a show, it would be a good choice.
Food was just ok. My husband struggled to find the lobster in his lobster ravioli. My swordfish was overdone (but the veggies were good). And my mom had the pasta with sausage and mushrooms, which was mediocre. Spectacularly bad service, though. Funny that we had two waitresses fighting over who would wait on our table, and we had to ask to get a water glass refilled... Our waitress did not even know how to use the corkscrew to open the wine. Too many service gaffes to mention. Cafe Mezza—Not!
Food was outstanding. Service was horrible. Waitress didn’t know that Pellegrino was bottled water, appetizer dishes were not cleared for over 30 minutes, ciopinno entree did not have scallops as stated, had to ask for bread even tho dipping oil was on table, 50 minutes waiting for entree, no water was refilled, and waitress asked if we wanted coffee or dessert while presenting our bill. Shame because food was fresh & presentation was perfect.
Entrées are excellent. Always an enjoyable experience. Sergio is the best!
