Great atmosphere, service and food. Would happily book again.
Not to be missed. A really great restaurant with high standards.
Excellent food, nice and effective serving staff.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, and the open kitchen allows you to watch the chefs preparing your food.
Despite the high rating on trip adviser and some other websites, this restaurant was not impressive at all. Its a noisy restaurant full of tourists and the staff are not very pleasant. The food was fine but slightly overpriced. Definitely NOT a nice place for a romantic date or a special occasion!
First time at Cafe Monico. Celebrating a friends 50th and wanted something special. Had a wonderful evening. Great service from the waitress. Food was delicious and great ambiance.
We had a lovely post-theatre dinner at Cafe Monico. We had a drink at the bar and then had the set menu. The food was excellent and service was really good. Best tiramisu I’ve ever had! I will definitely be returning.
Café Monica is a welcome place for a pre-theatre meal in the heart of the theatre district, and at a very reasonable chance. Moreover, the selection for the pre-theatre menu is reasonable, as is the price. Service was excellent and staff are very aware of making theatre times. Food is French bistro/modern European with good examples of each. We will certainly return.
Very chic setting, great for a double date or pre/post theatre meal, especially with Les Mis next door. The décor is nicely chosen and a great spot for lunch or dinner right in the heart of Leicester Square. The food is thoughtfully prepared (with a menu that includes both safe and creative dishes for foodies and picky eaters) and the service is friendly - I recommend.
My friends and I had an exceptional first time here and we will definitely be going back. The brunch was amazing and the service was great. We sat upstairs and had a fantastic view of the restaurant below etc. I highly recommend Cafe Monico and am looking forward to our next foodie experience there.
I go to Cafe Monico regularly. The staff are great and it is very convient for the West End theatres. A haven in an area of horrible eating places.
Excellent experience. Recommended by an actor friend who said it's great food and you won't be ripped off. Spot on!
Love Cafe Monico and took friends that had not been. It’s expensive but food, service etc is excellent. Would certainly recommend it.
This is a gem of a restaurant in the heart of the West End, ideal for pre/post theatre meals or a meal independent of a theatre trip. I went with a friend of mine for a meal after a matinee in one of the nearby Shaftesbury Avenue theatres and my choice of restaurant did not disappoint. We had a table by the window in the upstairs section of the restaurant so was able to watch the activity outside while we were eating. The restaurant has a good ambience, the staff are courteous and helpful without being intrusive and the food was excellent. It is a restaurant where you can easily spend 2 or 3 hours over a leisurely meal. I would recommend it to other people.
good food and service, although disappointed when despite asking for the fried egg to have hard yolk and don't make the egg white crispy thats exactly what I got. seems like a challenging concept for professional chefs...
Visited pre theatre on a Thursday evening. Great place never visited before food was well presented and was excellent tastes.. We had the sword fish which was lovely. Drinks were good too having a couple of cocktails. Don't pass this place by.
BEWARE: they write in their menu (which you can find also on their website) that they do the "post-theatre menù" from 10pm to 12am. In reality, when we showed up with our booking at 10:30pm after our show we were told that a) the upstairs was closed at that time and b) we couldn't get any post-theatre menu. After a bit of arguing they agreed to do that, although the talk itself was quite unpleasant. The waiter was visibly upset and he kept going back and forth on whether we could get the food we wanted. This being said, food was really good and service swift.
Ok dining experience. Food was very good and service was friendly. The restaurant was half empty at 9pm Saturday night.
Was a little cramped downstairs and was not a calming ambiance pressed against the back wall. The food was quite expensive (but this is Shaftesbury Avenue) but tasty. I would recommend for pre-theatre but not if you're on a budget.
I have had better meals for less. I think the place is overprices because of its location. Tourist trap. The food was average, will not be hurrying back
This was advertised with our theatre tickets so didn’t really expect much to be honest but it exceeded our expectation. Food, service atmosphere was exemplary. Do not hesitate to come here. You won’t be disappointed!
Very nice restaurant, great atmosphere and helpful staff. Food was very tasty and coctails were delicious. I will definitely come back, when I will be in London again.
An excellent dining experience all round. Great service, great food, good price for a special evening.
This has become our favourite restaurant when in London. Central to theatres, excellent food, very helpful and friendly staff. Very good value for money
right next door to the Gielgud Theatre so very convenient for us.
good food and good services
The portions we're surprisingly generous--great food--couldn't finish it, sadly.
Excellent value, good for a meal before the theatre.
We had the pre-theatre supper at Cafe Monico and were most pleasantly surprised at how good the whole experience was. Because we were in the heart of tourist-land, we thought this would just be an ok place to have a quick dinner, but my Burratta wrapped with Parma ham was gorgeous and our swordfish steak main course was spot on and delicious. I had a wonderful lemon sorbet dessert to top it all off. It's right next door to the Geilgud Theatre, so couldn't be more convenient and the staff took great care to serve us quickly and efficiently. The ambiance was wonderful--we had a table upstairs looking out onto Shaftsbury Avenue in one direction, and the charming wooden decor of the inside of the restaurant in the other direction. A really great experience and one we will repeat!
Lovely interior in Cafe Monico, friendly helpful waiting staff to take us to our table and providing a professional service.
Food was served as ordered, hot and tasty.
Only down side was the cost was expensive for things such as bread and a bottle of water.
Real treat for a special date or event.
I would recommend you visit, this restaurant is in the heart of the theatre area.
Came for pre-theatre meal on a Saturday night and were all slightly worried its location just off Piccadilly would mean it was a dreadful tourist trap, but we were pleasantly surprised. Nice bistro decor and vibe inside, friendly staff, quick service and good food. Not amazing value for money but would definitely come again if you want a quick central London meal that isnt a chain.
very nice restaurant. The staff were very well trained and professional and the food was very good. Would recommend this place to friends
Excellent value pre-theatre menu. The cooking and service is exemplary; Soho House Group know how to run this very civilised and welcoming restaurant. Service is efficient and friendly.
Had a lovely post theatre meal, food gorgeous, staff very attentive, helpful, smart and polite, would definitely go back
I visited cafe monico to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and I have to say it didn't disappoint! The service was fantastic, we had an extremely attentive waiter, we weren't rushed and my boyfriend was even brought an ice cream complete with a candle and birthday message! The restaurant is expensive but considering the quality of food and service it was well worth the price - couldn't be happier!
I've eaten here 3 times. Their pre-theatre prix-fixe dinners are a real value. The service is always excellent and efficient. The food quality is delicious. This last visit I had the saffron risotto. It was one of the best risottos that I've had in a very long time.
Food was excellent & pre theatre menu was good value, but dinner ended up expensive with extras & service was eccentric & very slow.
The ambience was buzzing and the location is fab. We were celebrating my 50th birthday and my daughter's 21st. The food was exquisite and we were given a discount as we had to wait a while for our mains - this was given without us complaining and without asking for it so thank you very much for that. We were also given birthday ice creams which was unexpected. Thank you for a great experience, we will most certainly be coming back!
All four of us enjoyed our meal very much. The non-alcoholic cocktails are a good idea. The restaurant was noisy by the time we left but we were fairly secluded and able to hold a quiet conversation. My friends particularly like the swordfish saying it was the best they'd had.
Cafe Monico was great! The menu is interesting and the food did not disappoint. The staff were most attentive and were really good with my elderly parents. We would definitely recommend it and hope to return soon.
Seating available as booked. attentive and friendly waiter and waitress. Good food served quietly and efficiently. An excellent pre theatre choice. Thank you.
A flawless experience. It is a little bit overpriced though.
