Cafe Murano Bermondsey is the latest in our small group of quality neighbourhood Italian restaurants. This new site feels very different to St James and Covent Garden – we like to play with the design of each site! An open kitchen is front and centre, with dining counters overlooking the bar, kitchen and Bermondsey St itself. The menu is unique to Bermondsey. There are new dishes of course, plus the classics such as Chicken Milanese and the Osso Bucco Risotto.
Our 100% Italian wine list as ever focuses on smaller quality focused winemakers and along side the regular wine list is a small frequently changing list of great wines only available in limited quantities.

Great food prepared fresh and authentic. There was an mix up with OpenTable allowing bookings after the kitchen had closed but they allowed us in and reopened the kitchen which was brilliant service and it was well worth it. It’s worth the trip for the tiramisu.

The food was good, the portions of the hors d' small, the 'primi piatti' good and very generous, and the citrus fruit sorbets were delicious on a hot day. Service was a bit slow, but otherwise good. We booked for a late lunch, and the noise level would've been very high if we'd been in earlier.

The staff rescued us from what otherwise would have been an embarrassment in front of special friends. Something must have gone seriously wrong in the kitchen as we waited for ages for our food which was lukewarm and not very good. I love CM in Covent Garden but this was not up to scratch, staff very apologetic and did their best.

Nice restaurant in the cute Bermondsey Street. Service was very good and nice atmosphere in the restaurant. The food was well cooked and presented. It would have been nice to have some less rich options on the menu though.

Lovely restaurant that accommodates gluten free. They even have gluten free bread to enjoy. Really loved the feel of the restaurant. It easily felt comfortable for families having dinner and friends getting together for an evening out.

As a regular post-opera/ballet diner at Cafe Murano in Covent Garden it's great to have this closer to home. For semi-frail elderly like us for whom public transport is not an option it also has the advantage that it's only a 100 metre walk into the iniquitous congestion charge zone. Good food; great staff; lively.

Came here for a birthday celebration. Attentive service. Food delicious. We all had pasta as a starter plus meat, fish and seafood mains. Not the largest of mains but tasty. Shared a tiramisu which was fab. A birthday bottle of processco on the house was a lovely touch. Would definitely return

The small risotto balls to start were delicious (lamb and pea arancini), as was the roasted peppers. We had 3 plates of pasta to share between 2, the Tortelli, Spaghetti Amatriciana and the Rigatoni, spicy fennel sausage ragu. The pasta was cooked to perfection. All 3 were delicious and highly recommended. By dessert, we were quite full, so shared the vanilla panna cotta that had the right amount of shake. Delicious and light end to the meal. We also had the peach non-alcoholic cocktail which looked and tasted amazing. Will be back!

Having dined at your different restaurants a number of times, I was excited to come back post lockdown. Whilst I am understanding of the challenging new environment, there is no excuse for 4 people dining taking 3 hours. Staff were inattentive when it came to ordering and coming to wait our table. Nobody came to tell us our food would be delayed as we sat waiting, even when we asked we were just told it was coming with no explanation. Later overhearing arguments between staff as to why dishes were delayed. We sat for almost 20minutes waiting for bread to go with the buratta starter, being told it was in the oven but yet were then served bread that was clearly not straight from the oven! We then received the wrong mains, which were placed on our table incorrectly and then staff came back to collect and serve to other guests (not sure that's ideal in any circumstance let alone covid). Our wine was corked, and I had to politely tell the server twice that it wouldn't be drinkable, no matter how much more was poured out "to check if it's still corked". After sitting for hours waiting our own table, there was never any acknowledgement that things were not going too well, no apology or recognition; despite us being quite clearly frustrated. The food is great, good value and the wine list also very good. But your service greatly let you down, to the extent that I felt the need to write this. I regularly go out for food and I desperately want the industry to do well and thrive again, especially restaurants I have visited before, but when you have guests returning, looking forward to a first meal out in months, you need to make more of an effort.

We have been regulars at Cafe Murano in Covent Garden for post-opera suppers since it opened. It was a pleasure to have our first post-lockdown dinner out at the comparatively new branch in Bermondsey. Food was exceptional. We were in the back where it was less buzzy but no problem. Free parking available on the street outside.

An absolute favourite. The service is friendly and attentive, the maitre d always remembers us and comes over to say hello. The menu is always seasonal, and a perfect mix of specials and regular favourites. It has a lovely buzzy feel here and coming back after lockdown it was our first choice and just as brilliant as always.

Great to be back in a restaurant after Lockdown. We had a great evening but if I was to pick one thing that bothered me I would say "Bread" We were offered bread after taking our order (said yes) and it took so long to come the Antipasti course was done. When it did arrive it was 2 slices. 2 slices for 2 people???? 1 slice each. Hmmmm. When our Primi dishes arrived again I asked for bread again to mop up the sauces. It took so long to arrive and the excuse was it was being baked. Hmmmmm again. When it did arrive it was not freshly cooked bread. Yes, it was fresh but from the morning delivery not fresh out of the oven. Again 2 slices, 1 each. Hmmmmmmmm. I spent around £200 for dinner so want more than 1 slice of bread each at a time and slow delivery. OK, all in all we had a great evening and no complaints about anything else but come on guys. Sort your bread out. I would prefer to pay for it and get 8 slices than this. ;0)
