The ambience was not good. If I looked one way I could only see dirty looking windows and if I looked the other way I could only see the serving hatch as we were seated too close to that. It was supposed to be a special birthday meal for me and my friends but I didn't enjoy it. Overall, I think the restaurant looks very tired and the food is not great value.

Good service, excellent food and lovely staff, never felt rushed which is a common complaint at this time of year. we will be back.

Cafe Rouge was the ideal location for a friends get together. The ambience reminded us of our holidays in France, the service was friendly, courteous, efficient and timely and the menu gave us plenty of choice without being over-complex. Excellent value for money for a great night out!

Booked this for an evening meal for 4, to celebrate a graduation in the family. On arrival, we were told they had run out of fillet steak (two of us wanted this and have had it before in a Birmingham Café Rouge - superb usually). Disappointing but we got over that! We showed a 40% off main courses voucher to the waiter and he said that was fine and would be applied to the bill. The bill was c£180 and it wasn't until I arrived home next day, I realised the 40% had not been applied at all. Disappointing and probably my fault for checking at the time but the restaurant was full - appreciate it was a busy time - and I had to go to the counter to pay as staff were busy.

Small family celebration. Good menu options, very reasonably priced, really can't fault it for the cast. Staff quite attentive, friendly and helpful

Food and service excellent. Only downside little bit cramped and perhaps too many tables for the dining space. Good selection on menu and thoroughly enjoyed all my three courese.

Sadly quite disappointing. We booked here for our work Christmas meal, only a small party and even pre-ordered hoping it would make it alot easier. There was confusion where we were sitting so we had to change tables but only after we saw our name tags on another table not by the staff. We waited 25 mins to be asked for drinks and an hour for the starters which were only for 2 of the party anyway. This meant for most of us we waited an hour and 20 mins before our main dinner arrived. We entertained ourselves as we after the first order of drinks came we never saw any member of staff til the starters. There were 2 larger tables, 1 not pre ordered, who received their whole meal before we had our deserts who seemed to have staff quite attentive to them which made us feel even worse. The food was delicious and I would give it 5/5 but for your whole party to feel starving and alittle deflated made our work evening out quite miserable. When we asked member of staff how long til our mains, we just replied with they're very busy and that was it. We felt like we were getting told off and felt uncomfortable to approach them again. Even when paying at the end we waited 15 minutes as they kept rushing in and out to clear just 2 tables that were left upstairs, no other customers, we just felt abandoned the entire time. I even got marched back into the restaurant after being told we had not paid enough. To clear we did, we just left a smaller tip then what was on our reciept but the embarrassment was humiliating.

The restaurant did not have a record of my booking when I checked the day before the event. It was eventually traced, but I did not feel valued. However, the evening of my family pre-Xmas get together went well thanks to the interest of our waitress. Open table needs to tighten up booking procedures with cafe rouge.

Food good. Service very poor even though restaurant half empty. We were upstairs, barely saw the waiter, plates left uncleared for 20 mins after we'd finished. Asked us if we wanted dessert menu in a way that gave the impression he'd rather we didn't, maybe he wanted to go home early ...

The beetroot and goats cheese tart was delicious but one friend complained that the chicken was dry and over cooked and another found the avocado in the Caesar salad inedible. When she complained, she was told Cafe Rouge weren't allowed to serve ripe avocado! Although £3.50 was taken off the total cost of the bill, we decided we would meet elsewhere next time as the space was quite cramped and noisy.

Great fan of Cafe Rouge throughout the country. The Brighton one is good and a great shame that the one in Tottenham Court Road has gone. Any ides why? It was always busy. Being able to use the Gourmet card and get 25% off the entire bill is a real bonus. Decour is always good as is the food and service.
