Country-style, Italian dining where plates are meant to be shared, and elbows are meant to be touched.
And yet if chairs could talk, these ones probably wouldn't.
We ate at the bar, close to the piano player which was a nice addition. Loved listening. The bartender on Sat night was terrific. We enjoyed spending time with him. The food was good overall. Ambiance was terrific.
Delicious food, top-notch service, not inexpensive but definitely high-quality
Absolutely terrible service. Waited almost an hour after being seated to even see a menu or get any apps on the table...even after having to flag down a bus boy several times just to get someone to come over and take our drinks order. Food was sub par, like we got the last of the bottom of the pot of pasta from the evening. We were there over 3 hours and left completely frustrated and hungry. Would never recommend this place considering how many amazing Italian places there are in the city.
Fantastic experience. The staff was impeccable at all levels. Had some neighbors that were a little overly boisterous but the staff made it worth every bit, balanced out the experience perfectly and we wouldn’t hesitate dining here again!
My friend and I decided that we wanted half of one dish and half of the other, we didn’t have to split it at the table they brought it to us that way without us asking and that gets five stars in my book! We had a wonderful time; the waiters were very attentive. The icing on the cake 😊 the food was absolutely delicious!
One of the best restaurants ever!!! Highly recommend it
Service was impeccable and food so tasty
The best restaurant in NY. Had been for over 35 years.
Fabulous restaurant with excellent Italian food! Service was attentive and top notch! Can’t wait to go back!
First time dining here, but will definitely be back. Cozy with excellent food. As the restaurant filled, the energy level went up. Great experience. BRAVO!
Perfect evening for all!!!! Couldn't have asked for more!!!
First time to visit in 15 years and same great experience - highly recommended
Food was mediocre but overpriced. Noise level was unbearable and tables were stacked so close together we were practically sitting in the lap of our neighbouring table. There are far better places in UES for Italian food.
We've been going to Campagnola's for about 20+ years, but only frequent when we are in town probably 2 times a year. We've always had a great experience here, but this past week on our 2nd time this year we felt very rushed. We barealy sat down at the table and within 5 min. they were asking for our order. We barely got out bottle of wine when our salads came then dinner. We wanted to enjoy the restaurant and the experience, but felt very rushed to turn the table. We'll see if we return.
George and everyone was fabulous impeccable service
Food great and sevice excellent. Too noisy however. Sit in back room is best
Campagnola was recommended to us by two separate friends. This is a cozy restaurant with great service. The pre dinner Parmesan, olives and pepperoni were excellent. We had a very early dinner because we were scheduled to see a play. This restaurant offered a smaller portion pasta dish option which was perfect since we were eating so early in the evening. The pasta was fresh, and very superbly prepared.
Spotty service from server during dessert and coffee. Backups were attentive with additional coffee and water upon request. Exceptional food and ambiance!
Food was excellent, but we were seated for 15 minutes before we were offered a cocktail or given a menu or wine list
Campagnola used to be a wonderful restaurant. The atmosphere is in need of an upgrade. It feels more cramped, less luxurious than it should be. The food did not live up to its reputation. For the prices they charge one should expect more than ordinary fare. Less expensive neighborhood Italian restaurants offer more for less. The service was the one bright spot. I found the wait staff attentive and responsive without being hovering. But I left disappointed, paying much and expecting far more. The food used to be better.
Good food friendly setvicey
Great place expected to pay , but 6.50 for a small mini bottle of coke ?
First time at Campagnola. Awesome! Highly recommend. One of best meals we had in 2019. Bring your appetite!
We go every year that we are in nyc for the us open. It never disappoints.
service was excellent. food - not good., unfortunately. had the baked seafood appetizer and it was tasteless. we left most of it on the plate. i had a think pork chop with mushrooms in a brown sauce that was so tough it almost couldn't be cut. my wife had the salmon which also was tasteless.
it's a nice restaurant but our meal was a huge disappointment.
Frank was amazing we were celebrating my Dad’s Birthday, they made my it a special event and service was fantastic!
Great NYC restaurant!!!!
Food and service is exceptional!!!
Frankie D is a great host and his staff very professional!!!!
Every course was delicious...especially the Dover Sole and Linguine with Clam Sauce....the Napoleon dessert was outstanding!!!
Love the piano music and relaxed ambiance...
Looking forward to our next dinner there...
Have been frequenting this fine eatery for over 25 years. Suggest the Clams Oreganoto for a starter or cold Veggie Antipasto, for your second course homemade pasta with porcini and a light cream sauce will please. If your still hungry and game for the main fish lovers will appreciate the Dover Sole while meat lovers will not be disappointed by the double cut Veal chop! Enjoy!
Authentic!!! Excellent!!! Preparation and presentation were outstanding and the service was above and beyond!!!
Order the specials, or off the menu, it’s all great.
We ordered two appetizers and two dinners and they split them both for us, so we got the share the easy way.
Wonderful experience. Will save for a next time - it’s definitely worth the expense as you are transported to Italy for a couple of hours!!!
Consistently excellent food
Great food with outstanding service. Lovely restaurant
We had a very nice time. The service was outstanding, and more than willing to work with whatever request we had. I highly recommend this place to anyone that’s considering going out for dinner in the city!
Class act all the way! Great service, Food and ambiance.
Great place loved the food. They have great service as well.
Always an exceptional dining experience, from the moment we walk in the door until we are ready to leave. No detail is ever overlooked!
Booked table at short notice, was made to feel welcome upon arrival. Great atmosphere, piano man tinkling the ivories softly. Food was top class as ever! Staff on top of their game here!
Delish. Loved their starter of Parmesan, olives and pepperoni.
The food at Camagnola is outstanding. It is one of the two or three best Italian restaurants in New York City. My only complaint is that when there is live music, the volume level of people trying to talk over the music is very high.
A somewhat tired restaurant by now. Asparagus in vinaigrette was totally tasteless. One dish of pasta with vegetables equally tasteless, not even any sauce on the pasta, just plain angel hair pasta with steamed broccoli and carrots, lol!!. Chicken with prosciutto was in a heavy brown sauce that was overly salted, obviously nothing fresh, and the branzini was... well.. all of the above. One waiter took the salami and cheese appetizers away before we were finished, the maitre d went at staccato pace through the day's offerings without much interest, just trying to get it done... Overall just the impression of having been here too long, with disinterested personnel... Food prepared heavy handedly, nothing joyful and light as Italian food can be. Really disappointing.
Everything was excellent! Would go again and recommend to all my friends
Wonderfully old school ... but not cheap!
