Country-style, Italian dining where plates are meant to be shared, and elbows are meant to be touched.
And yet if chairs could talk, these ones probably wouldn't.
Have been frequenting this fine eatery for over 25 years. Suggest the Clams Oreganoto for a starter or cold Veggie Antipasto, for your second course homemade pasta with porcini and a light cream sauce will please. If your still hungry and game for the main fish lovers will appreciate the Dover Sole while meat lovers will not be disappointed by the double cut Veal chop! Enjoy!
Authentic!!! Excellent!!! Preparation and presentation were outstanding and the service was above and beyond!!!
Order the specials, or off the menu, it’s all great.
We ordered two appetizers and two dinners and they split them both for us, so we got the share the easy way.
Wonderful experience. Will save for a next time - it’s definitely worth the expense as you are transported to Italy for a couple of hours!!!
Consistently excellent food
Great food with outstanding service. Lovely restaurant
We had a very nice time. The service was outstanding, and more than willing to work with whatever request we had. I highly recommend this place to anyone that’s considering going out for dinner in the city!
Class act all the way! Great service, Food and ambiance.
Great place loved the food. They have great service as well.
Always an exceptional dining experience, from the moment we walk in the door until we are ready to leave. No detail is ever overlooked!
Booked table at short notice, was made to feel welcome upon arrival. Great atmosphere, piano man tinkling the ivories softly. Food was top class as ever! Staff on top of their game here!
Delish. Loved their starter of Parmesan, olives and pepperoni.
The food at Camagnola is outstanding. It is one of the two or three best Italian restaurants in New York City. My only complaint is that when there is live music, the volume level of people trying to talk over the music is very high.
A somewhat tired restaurant by now. Asparagus in vinaigrette was totally tasteless. One dish of pasta with vegetables equally tasteless, not even any sauce on the pasta, just plain angel hair pasta with steamed broccoli and carrots, lol!!. Chicken with prosciutto was in a heavy brown sauce that was overly salted, obviously nothing fresh, and the branzini was... well.. all of the above. One waiter took the salami and cheese appetizers away before we were finished, the maitre d went at staccato pace through the day's offerings without much interest, just trying to get it done... Overall just the impression of having been here too long, with disinterested personnel... Food prepared heavy handedly, nothing joyful and light as Italian food can be. Really disappointing.
Everything was excellent! Would go again and recommend to all my friends
Wonderfully old school ... but not cheap!
The food was delicious but I felt the overall atmosphere was snobby with undertones of homophobia.
Fabulous old world Italian food, ambiance and staff. A rare gem
Campagnola was the Italian dream. I have yet to have a meal so authentic with such a phenomenal atmosphere and exquisite service in the city until now. The manager was superb in his recommendations and treated my family who was in town with such warmth they felt like regulars. 11/10 would recommend to everyone!
A friend of ours told us years ago this is an authentic Italian place with outstanding food. We have been here several times when visiting NYC and it never fails to disappoint. I need to make a special shout out to Frank. I am not sure what his title is, but he told me he has been at the Campagnola through 4 different owners. Frank may as well be the owner because he seems vested in this place like an owner. We met up with our family which included a niece who can not eat gluten. Frank was able to reassure her he could offer her a gluten-free pasta, but when it came to dessert, nothing was available. After the meal, Frank shows up with a pint of chocolate ice cream, that he purchased at the market next door, so she could have dessert. Now that is going above and beyond for outstanding service. I am in love with this place and will go back e everytime I'm in NYC!
The food, as always, was perfect and the service superb I highly recommend this restaurant
Absolutely delicious and authentic Italian food..my date ordered the steak and it was excellent as well. Try the fried calamari!
The staff predicts what you need and fulfills it without asking. Love, love, love this place and look forward to a return visit!
The quintessential NY Italian restaurant. Superb food, knowledgeable but slightly gruff staff. Perfect in every respect.
So noisy we could not have a conversation. AND they had music in the background.
Food was fairly good, but for the hefty prices the portions might have been larger, and I'm a size 6.
Excellent Italian Food in a cozy place! Highly recommend!
Wonderful dinner with live music from a talented pianist/vocalist. Perfect for celebrating a special occasion. Food was great, but the service was even better. It is very rare that I go to a restaurant that knows not to remove any plates until the last person finishes their food. This place has trained their staff well. While it is a bit pricey, the food and service was well worth it.
Fantastic! This place is what fine dinning is all about. Service food and ambiance was excellent !
First time here ever. The specials were amazing and the service was great as well. After one meal Campagnola has become one of my favorite Italian restaurants. Will 100% be returning as often as possible.
Always one of our favorite “classics” every time we visit NYC. Perfect blend of terrific food, highly professional service and that “yes, this is the way a great New York Italian restaurant delivers every night.”
The management team and service staff have been there for a long time. It shows. Frankie is the captain of the ship.
Delicious meal, great service
Wonderful atmosphere and fantastic meal!
Great ambiance, old world, classy. Great service. Food was outstanding. Romantic place.
Always great. The appetizers are terrific, pasta is really great, and the steak for the table top shelf.
Great food and elegant atmosphere! One of our favorite special places
A classic NY Italian restaurant!!
The service was excellent Frankie D and Gallo were very attentive. Everyone on staff was quick, accurate , and professional. Our meal was delicious starting from the anti pasti to our porter house steak for two to the Osso bucco to the fish specials. Another plus we appreciated was them catering to the our gluten free guest . My only wish is that they consider serving risotto as a side option. We want to thank everyone for making us feel so welcomed. I also want to include Mr Sidney at the lounge he was very professional and made us feel at home. We will definitely return and recommend it to all our colleagues and friends.
Frankie D and the staff were A1 and so was the food. Terrific, top to bottom.
Great food so consistently with welcoming service and nice wine list. We always look forward to our next visit.
Always a great experience and amazing food
Fun and great food. Would eat there every night if I could .
