The Candlelight never fails to deliver, even in the tough times of the pandemic the staff make a visit special. It was my partner’s birthday and The Candlelight has become our favourite place to go for a meal. They are renovating/extending to increase their appeal even further which is fantastic news. Happy Christmas to all at the Candlelight, we will be back soon.

A gem of a pub, a warm welcome, fantastic food and excellent service every time we go there.

Room was a little drafty, if you’re are sat near the door.
The main was a little disappointing in terms of portion size. The rest was fine.
We had the goose for mains, which was delicious.

Very friendly and service minded staff.

Ambience was really good, especially when it was enhanced by the power cut and the place was lit by candles only 😊

We had a lovely roast here, food was excellent and enjoyed sat next to the fire. Was very quiet but cosy - beautiful pub. Service was quite slow when we wanted to pay the bill but it wasn’t an issue as we weren’t in a rush. Would definitely recommend.

Our first visit to this pub and instantly felt welcome and relaxed. The atmosphere was so lovely with both log burners going and all the Christmas lights. The service along with food was exceptional and I couldn’t recommend it high enough.

We visited the candlelight last Friday evening, we were greeted with a very warm welcome and made fimilar with the covid regs in place. We were buzzing to see the two open fires were lit as it was freezing outside! The service was excellent and the food even better. We will be visiting again in the spring. Outstanding.

The food and service were both very good. But the quaint kitchen chairs at our table were not comfortable and the owners should try sitting in them for an hour or more.

Best meal I have had for a very long time and not just because of Covid lockdown. All three courses were superbly cooked and presented, friendly helpful service and a lovely ambience. Really interesting menu with variety. Top marks all round, made for a really special family evening.

We love going to the Candlelight and have been many times. The quality of the food is always perfect. We appreciate that it is a gastro pub, bordering on fine dining and possibly tending towards nouvelle cuisine, but on our last visit we were very disappointed with the very small portions of turbot that were served, followed by an extremely small portion of cheese. Perhaps a review of portion size is required. Otherwise brilliant.

The menu seemed to be more comprehensive than on our previous visit which was a pleasant surprise. We all enjoyed our lunch!

Discovered this restaurant via Trip Advisor and it exceeded expectations. Really lovely ambience (with lots of candles) and staff were very welcoming and attentive. Food was excellent and nicely presented and we felt spoilt for choice.
The restaurant had taken all necessary COVID precautions, but had also managed to maintain a lovely environment.
Just wish we could make this our local, but sadly we live 200 miles away.

We hadn’t been to the Candlelight for a little while but as always never ceases to impress. From the moment you walk in until you leave it’s a peaceful, positive and thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Excellent food and we felt safe with the measures in place

Fantastic evening meal at The Candlelight Inn. Really well organised with COVID measures which didn’t distract from the experience. Food and service was great! Definitely worth a visit.

I ordered the ham and eggs, taking a risk as I hate fat. It was beautiful, very lean and had a slightly smokey barbecue flavour which I thought was lovely. This with chunky chips, what more can you ask for!
