We went to the Candlenut to try their authentic tasting menu. We weren’t disappointed! It was great food and great value. Book early it’s very popular. We could only get a lunch reservation instead of dinner., so book ahead. Very nice afternoon.

Simple interior enhanced by suspended raffia lanterns adjoining crafts store. Refined Singaporean cuisine and fairly priced wines. Location hard to find at night and harder to get a Uber back to downtown

Food is always amazingly explosive with flavour but served with unintimidating simplicity. We keep coming back for more.

The whole experience was great, the staff all very attentive but not intrusive and the food was fantastic. We had the tasting menu, all the main courses came out together and was a fantastic feast. The desserts were to die for, a perfect end to the meal.

I’m conflicted. I’ve been a few times and my experience varies. This time we’d gone for a special occasion so wanted a really nice experience but unfortunately didn’t get it. Main courses are much much better than the starter options. Be careful of the menu and if you’re a non meat eater, make sure you ask what ingredients they use ... some items quote only vegetables but when I asked I was told there as pork in it and since it’s a non-halal restaurant they don’t need to specify! Some wait staff were exceptional and some plain rude. Main course are great, starters are so so.

I would never go back here. Food was extremely overprice and have no idea how they earned an Michelin star. Coming from the US, I follow all James Beard Award winning Chef's for a true dining experience.

Lovely waiter who explained about some of the peranikan tradition of food preparation. Delicious black rice dish!

Candlenut was recommended by a local friend and it did not disappoint. It was a delicious showcase of Peranakan food. We selected the omakase menu and it was an excellent choice with good variety of ingredients, flavours and generous serving sizes of all dishes - offering exceptional value. The wonderfully delicious food was complimented by top notch service - in particular Felix who told us some of the history of the dishes as well as the process of preparing some of the local ingredients which really enhanced our experience and helped us appreciate the dishes even more (one ingredient takes over 40 days prep!). He was knowledgable and very entertaining. The kitchen also accommodated allergies/food preferences.

The dining room itself is beautifully designed in the traditional Peranakan colours and patterns but in a very modern style. We would definitely revisit. Highly recommended.

A nice pleasant restaurant for upperty nonya foods. This is a place you can get most of your favorite nonya dishes in one location. Or a place to entertain guests, especially those from the overseas.

Food was ok. Service not so good. Had lunch on 24 Jan and waiter was not the least attentive or helpful. Never looked around to help at all and had to be waved at and called out to. After repeating our order went on to miss the grilled chicken leg dish. Didn’t check in at all during meal and when we asked after waiting over an hour for this last dish, he nonchalantly looked at his tablet and replied - ‘it’s not in the order’ and smiled. Obviously his mistake, as my two friends and I had heard him repeat our order with this item included. Did he suggest a viable alternative? No. Asked us if we’d like to wait 20 mins for the chicken which was not possible because it was already 2pm and we had to go back to work/errands.

Dissapointed. After all the reviews, I expected way better than this. If a restaurant failed at a simple omelette, I think it says everything that need to be said. The location is good tho.

Excellent Peranakan food. Beef rendang, crab curry and the grilled red snapper were delicious. Service was also attentive and friendly. A good experience. Great place to take out-of-towners for some local cuisine.
