Hotel du Vin Wimbledon is a 19th Century house that we’ve made sure still holds its individual character and historic charm. Sensitively refurbished, its former glory shines on, its distinctive setting has hosted the likes of Lord Tennyson, Oscar Wilde and even the last Maharajah of Punjab.
Cannizaro House is located within 34 acres of Cannizaro Park and adjacent to Wimbledon Common. Aside from nearby boutique shopping and extensive parkland, the hotel sits close to the All England Club, the home of tennis, which for a fortnight each year hosts the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, attracting interest and personalities from around the world.
A tranquil setting, yet well connected, you’re never far from something to do. Our exquisite Orangerie overlooks the gardens and is ideal for al fresco dining. Our Bistro offers an enticing menu and the cosy bar holds a relaxed and warm atmosphere..

Very pleasant birthday lunch with a friend, food was from the daily set menu and excellent. Squid and Chicken salad were very good portions and well worth the cost. Service was excellent and attentive; will happily take my wife next time!

Gorgeous food and waiting staff were very attentive and happy to help with access for my elderly Mum who is in a wheelchair. So nice to be in a restaurant where you can have a conversation without having to shout at each other! Had a wonderfully enjoyable afternoon.

I hoped it would have improved but sadly no. Service diabolical, had to attract attention for everything. Drinks, wine, bread to order our food everything - we had to try and attract someone. Staff seemed clueless, they did not understand our requests, Waitresses very poor English. We had to get up to pour our own wine. Ask for the bread left on the side, ask to place our food order, ask for more drinks, ask for desserts. Really spoilt our evening as constantly looking for staff and not conversing with othes. This was a special birthday for my elderly mother we went last year as it's a good place to meet for family, easy parking. Seems worse now it's Hotel du vin.

Came for an afternoon tea; where the food was delicious but the service was very poor! We had to call for service, wait a while for things, and were given our desserts wrapped in tin foil which ruined some of them as it squashed them. The atmosphere was nice and the scenery was lovely. Overall a pleasant experience. Just thought the value would come with a better service.

Lovely food in a magnificent setting, but with eye wateringly poor service. On arrival we were told we had booked for the wrong evening, only to then be told - when we provided the confirmation email - that this was an error on their part. The service staff seemed to be at sixes and sevens, asking half the table for drinks orders, remembering some and not others, bringing food for other tables to us and vice versa. This might have been understandable had the venue been busy, but it wasn't. This is a shame as the food was nice, but in a premium venue with premium prices, the side was let down very badly. Unlikely to return.

First time to this restaurant since the change of ownership of the hotel. Sat in the glass conservatory area with a splendid view of the grounds. This was a business lunch and Christmas lunch for two wrapped into one; a highly satisfactory outcome. All in all, good food, professional service and a overall a very pleasant experience, although a little lacking in ambience.

Unfortunately, Cannizaro House did not have our Open Table booking, however a friendly waiter found us a table anyway, which was good. A bit disappointing to start out with though... The food was very good, especially the Caponata. Some service staff members were more enthusiastic than others.... there was one waitress who didn't seem to be too thrilled to be there ... Peter was nice actually. Because there are so many different waiters and waitresses, no one seems to ultimately feel responsible for the table and their experience. We weren't offered any bread to start, but asked for it. The wine was very nice - good choice.

Initially were very pleased with our table and service. However, the served part of the meal i.e soup, main course and sweet took so long that the food was only just warm. Very disapponted in the sweet. The proffiteroles consisted of dry choux topping with icecream not the traditional puffy choux with cream. My daughter opted for the brioche pudding which was a square and solid and very disappointing. The cheese portion were extremely minute! We love the ambiance of the Cannazaro, the staff are superb up front but perhaps the added parties were too much for the kitchen.

Haven't eaten here for a couple of years, but visited this year for birthday drinks & snacks. This time we visited for our wedding anniversary. Sorry to say, everything was dissapointing apart from the gent who served us, I got the feeling he was not happy about the food on offer. Had a terrible tuna carpaccio , & my wife & shared half a lobster (didn't have the full one available) & half a crab. We were just presented with them in shells on newspaper along with a load of toasted bread, some clippers & basically , a pat on the back for good luck, help yourself. Even for dessert, 2 scoops of ice cream was warm & melted into more of a milkshake. Would return for drinks or coffee during the day, but never for food again. Hugely disappointed & sad because it's such a lovely setting.

The restaurant is pleasant although the annoying music is too loud. The views over the park are lovely. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The food was good but the bread ordered was not ready and the main component of my main meal was over-cooked. The portion was also quite small. Overall a nice venue for an evening meal but I'm not sure I would choose it for a special occasion. The lounge area in the reception hall needs a really serious face-lift. Apologies for not being able to be more complimentary.

This was the first time I had eaten at the restaurant. I would definitely book again and recommend it. I would have preferred slightly more choice for vegetarian dishes and wonder if they could be adapted for vegans? I would love to book for my husband and small group but they would need a vegan option.

I had booked an afternoon tea for my wife on her birthday. She had been to Cannizaro House a few years earlier and enjoyed her day out, so were expecting to experience something similar. Unfortunately we were both disappointed by slow service and quality of food. The sandwiches that were served with the afternoon tea didn't taste good, the cakes were too sugary and the presentation of sub-standard quality, something that is not expected from Cannizaro House Hotel.

I love the situation of this restaurant but the sadly the professional protocols of service and PR are not at the best since the the hotel/resturant have been taken over by Hotel du Vin. The attention to clients is not particularly good and the new menu has some very strange choices. Unfortunately I ordered Tomato Consommé starter, it came as a bowel of what looked like a crumpet of thick fish eggs. I enquired where the consommé was and two of the serving staff had no clue what was in the bowel before us. It was finally identified as shallots cut into hundreds of tiny balls. The consommé came later on the side in a tiny sauce pot about 2 inches wide, in total it was about an inch and a quarter of consommé - max. It would not have even covered the shallots. I was shocked as shallots were not even mentioned on the menu with it. I ate the bread and butter for my starter! Menus must state what they are supplying to their clients - or it could be a serious issue. Please, please Hotel du Vin - Wimbledon needs better - please raise your standards in professionalism and client care! Third disappointing meal I have had in this new restaurant.

I had always wanted to try Cannizaro House as have heard that the surroundings are beautiful, which they were, but overall it was a bit disappointing. We had a girls lunch on Friday in the Orangerie. We all ended up ordering from the set menu, which at £16.95 for two courses was good value. My friend ordered the pork pate terrine for her starter, which was meant to come with cornichons and Dijon mustard. What arrived was something that was battered and deep fried. When we enquired if we had received the correct item (as one would expect it to be a cold dish) we were told, "Madame. This is the way WE do it." The server didn't even bother to check whether he had made a mistake. I then asked for an a la carte menu to see if it might have been something else, and sure enough, it was actually the Crispy Porc Joue Terrine (not what we had ordered). When we pointed this out another server then arrived with the entire terrine loaf tin from the kitchen and plonked it on the table. He proceeded to cut out messy slivers of it and pile it on my friend's plate, which I think he was trying to compensate for the error, but it was hardly appetising. We then had to request the Dijon and the cornichons after waiting several minutes for someone else to acknowledge us. My other friend's Caprese Salad looked very nice with multi coloured heritage tomatoes, and my prawn and avocado salad was OK, although several of the leaves were bent and bruised (and looked from a bag of salad). The Moules Fritte were quite good. The fougasse bread was hard as a rock and not very nice. So, some ok dishes, some good, but I'm not sure I would go again for a meal. The surroundings are indeed beautiful though, and perhaps I would return for a drink before having dinner somewhere else in Wimbledon Village.

i have been wanting to visit Cannizaro for ages, and so i took my girlfriend for lunch on Saturday. I have to say that I wasn't overwhelmed. Nothing puts me on a downer like standing in reception being ignored for 5min. after enquiring where i should announce myself I eventually am waved in the direction of the restaurant when we waited a further few minutes before we were seated. its a beautiful location and view, but the service could do with a sharpen up. right to paying the bill which i had to stand up to go and do! food was OK, nothing special. Sole was slightly overcooked and the Fillet steak a tad tough. The chips were cooked in oil that was not hot enough making them pale, floury and oil-saturated. annoyingly i want to go back in case it was just an "off day" purely on account of its location. perhaps we'll try afternoon tea...perhaps I'll just give it a skip.

I booked on a day when the hotel was having an event. I was not told until well after the booking and was assured the restaurant would be sealed off. It wasn't. The noise from the rowdy participants of the event was too loud to even speak. As soon as my guests arrived we left to the nearby and very good Fox and Grapes in Camp Road. Hotels that sell off their common parts for public functions have a duty to inform guests well in advance. This hotel failed in that duty. Individually, the staff handled it well.

The opentable entry refers to "with 3 AA Rosettes under its belt, the modern British restaurant at Cannizaro House is set in the hotel's historic dining room." And until a few month's ago that was indeed true. But the restaurant has now changed completely - indeed it now bills itself as a bistro. Think Cafe Rouge (it even has a very similar looking menu that screams "chain"). Nothing wrong with that - but not at all what was suggested by the description and the wrong thing for the elegant setting of the hotel.

They never had the reservation on file! Fortunately we were able to get a table...Service was very poor on this particular day, so bad that I had to tell our waiter that while the food was excellent, the service was terrible. He became more attentive to us after that, but it did rather spoil it for us. And when I say terrible, I mean, terrible. Very nice, polite staff, but absolutely hopeless - 25 minutes for them to bring us the bread appetizer? Which turned out to be 4 slices of cold bread? And the place was nearly empty too! And no idea how to take orders from guests, no refills of water, waiter not present for 90% of the meal and nowhere to be seen - very disappointing for what is obviously a quality restaurant. When the food arrived, however, it was EXCELLENT - and the profiterole for dessert was outstanding. Great scenic meal, we'll go back, and hopefully get a different waiter! It was only the service (and the length of time it took for them to get us our bread and food) that let it down. I'm sure it's a one-off - that any other time it would be excellent, so we will be going back.

I'm sorry to say this as the staff and venue are lovely - but a Caesar salad that had no cheese - chicken that looked pinky and cos lettuce that had seen better days. Steaks overdone and no peppercorn because they had run out - when asked if chef could make some fresh the response was sadly no. Bit worrying.

Waited for over an hour for food and when it arrived it was cold and the sides which we ordered didn't come. We were offered free drinks and desserts but that took an hour too. Lunch at 1300... 1 course steak [cold] and chips course plus free dessert = 3 hours. Awful.

Looked up restaurant for a celebratory dinner, great looking - fine food - menu on the website, in this lovely old grand house on Wimbledon common. now a smart Hotel Du Vin Fabulous setting, great location, friendly service. aperitifs disappointing - the Laurent Perrier Champagne (by the glass) was flat and the Martini not cold enough and disappointingly small. Menu : Apparently the chef left earlier in July and the menu was now Brasserie only - usual steak and chips and a few fish courses NOT fine dining. Overall the meal was tasty and good sized portions. Nice enough meal, but not what we had made the journey for. Expected more.
