Went here yesterday evening with my husband and had a lovely experience, all staff were very friendly and efficient and the drinks were nicely presented by a girl behind the bar, we had a coloured hair male server who was very helpful in explaining the menu, and our food was sent to our table very promptly, will definitely be back

We used to be regulars at captians but this time was unlike anything we experienced. It was an hour from when we sat to getting our mains. Thankfully we ordered our daughters food to be out with our starter otherwise she would have lost the plot. The burger was overdone and served with 2 bun tops. My partner couldn't even eat it. They were not busy as the servers spent most of the time at the bar. Very disappointing trip.

Food was ok, have had better on previous visits. Love chicken wings but this evening they didn't hit the usual mark.

We were seated promptly and order taken. Bit of a wait for food to come out, however was ok as not in rush.

There was a young guy with coloured hair who was super attentive and great service so top marks to him. Sorry didn't get his name.

Went for a lovely meal yesterday with my 3 children in the restaurant. From start to finish the staff were so helpful with giving me a hand arriving and leaving with the pram and waiter staff were always nearby if anything was needed. Staff were so friendly and it was just an all around pleasant experience even with three children. (Lol) Food was delicious. Will definitely be back!

Went in,stood at the door while 2 staff members chatted at the bar. Eventually got a seat. Over 5 minutes passed and I had to wave at a staff member who was standing at the bar chatting to the same staff member and ask her for a menu. Got a menu, no apology just handed the menu and staff member walked away. Almost 10 minutes later we still hadn't even been asked to order a drink. We decided to leave and go elsewhere.
The restaurant was far from crowded and there was plenty of staff on duty so I have no idea why this happened. Have been to captain America on Grafton Street in Dublin and was super impressed with the whole experience and was very much looking forward to dinner at the one in Cork but I have been left extremely disappointed with the service.

Went with my wife and 3 kids (3-7). We wanted somewhere relaxed and was family friendly.
it’s a nice family restaurant with plenty of options on the menu for everyone.
Staff were very friendly and accommodated any request given. Would recommend to others with similar requirements.

This is a really nice, family friendly restaurant and lunch time is always a great time to dine here, as its relatively quiet and calm and it has a really nice ambience. The food is excellent and good value for money and the service by the staff is also excellent. The waiting staff came and checked on us a few times and asked do we need anything and made sure we were comfortable. We had a great time!

Had a lovely festive evening for dinner with the kids. The staff were really friendly and the food was lovely. Unfortunately they were out of my favourite dessert (the baked cookies with ice cream) I guess I will just have to go back again soon for it 😊

Good steak but definitely on the expensive side considering you only get one side with it, no vegetables so extras add up!

The service was quite poor there didn't seem to be enough staff on duty . We ordered wedges with our meal these were definitely out of a shop bought packet and the waitress failed to mention that these cost an extra 3 euro on bill also a bit of side salad on the plate wouldnt have went astray

Very disappointed with our dinner here. We have been coming to Captain America's since my now 17 year old was a baby. His birthday is in December so over the years it became a tradition to eat here and then go Christmas shopping. Because of COVID we weren't able to come last year so we were really looking forward to this weekend. Table for 5 booked for 2.30 it was quiet enough so no real atmosphere like years ago but that's understandable. We waited 40 mins for our food. Didn't mind too much staff were friendly but quite slow. I always get the Philly cheese steak so was looking forward to it ..... The menu clearly says pepper sauce on the side which is fine as I don't like pepper sauce but this time it was mixed in with the steak and there was literally a few bits of grated cheese through it, definitely not enough to warrant being called a Philly CHEESE steak more like a pepper sauce steak. My son's burger said BBQ sauce on the side but again it was poured over the burger. The chips were overcooked and cold, nothing like they used to be! My daughter got a chicken and cheese enchilada which was ok but very dry, my youngest got a Cajun chicken burger which was nice except for the chips and my husband's burger was nice too. Desserts were lovely and def the highlight of our meal. It's very sad that the standard has clearly dropped so low. Unfortunately I don't think we'll be back, even when paying the usual banter wasn't there and it's not like they were run off their feet, the place was empty. She never asked if we enjoyed our meal and probably for the best because I would have told her lol. Sorry Captain America's but you've lost a loyal customer.

Service was good even if it was busy.
I ordered 2 kids hot dog, Philly steak sandwich and garlic cheese fries .
We sat at 2pm , and got out food at 3.05pm . Kids were starving .
Kids food was cold, hot dog bread was big and there was only on tiny sausage inside , leaving the kids to eat bread only.
My garlic cheese chips were cold
I understand it’s busy but food should be always served hot and maybe quicker .

I booked this as treat for our 5 children after going to see santa , the restaurant was half empty when we arrived early, we placed our order and the waiter came back to say pizza was gone, all of us except one had ordered pizza , this was at 7pm in the evening. I found this strange as half the menu is pizza, the restaurant wasn't very busy and it was still early in the evening. There wasnt a lot of choice for the children so they had nuggets and chips. 1hr 15 mins later we were still waiting for the kids meals after asking 3 times , at this stage they were starving, wanted to leave and go to mc donalds! The 2 adult meals then arrived before the childrens, one of which was the wrong side order and the other was cold, the kids meals eventually arrived after speaking with the manager. Again cold food, they left the majority of food behind. The manager voided the kids meals and said it was because they were training chefs but we werent looking for free food, it was supposed to be a fun evening out for the kids. it was just a disaster from the start. The line of the night seemed to be' sorry about that', this wasnt just at our table. My older daughter then saw the chef eating from the chips he was cooking while working. We left , went round the corner, got pizza slices from fast als. Will not go back or recommend, its a pity because it used to be a nice place.

We were waiting approximately 20-25 minutes for our food. I got the mushroom burger which was lovely but there wasn't enough of the sauce on the burger. Staff were friendly but seemed to be under pressure & the restaurant was at half capacity.

We arrived and were seated very fast and they were checking covid passes. We gave our order and waited. After 20 minutes a portion of chicken wings came to our table, my daughter had ordered them for her main but they arrived as a starter and because of that none of the rest of our food had been put on. After 50 minutes waiting we finally got our food. My son had ordered a pepperoni pizza but got just cheese, I ordered a philly steak which was very poor and missing bits. My daughters wings had been kept and reheated, they were hard and dry. We ordered dessert only to be told that what we wanted wasn’t available. We left at that point. I was charged for a full kids meal even though the desert was unavailable and the pizza was incorrect and although they did apologise a few times I felt they didnt seem to give a crap. The food quality has really dropped since I ate there prior to covid.

Everything went well and drinks were beautiful made. I enjoyed the food but my partners pizza was severely under cooked underneath with raw dough but the top was slightly burned. Meaning the oven was too hot and cooked too quick otherwise it would’ve been a 5 star.

Very disappointing visit. I haven’t been in a few years. The salad with the enchilada was plain with no dressing and the lettuce was pink. A single enchilada for 15 euro seemed overpriced! The dessert was so disappointing! 8 euro for soft serve ice cream with caramel sauce (which was melted when it arrived). In my memory the sundae used to have warm brownie bits and it was amazing! I would have been better of getting the 1euro sundae from McDonald’s! 70 euro down the drain! Won’t be back again unfortunately! On the plus side the nachos were great! Seems like a good spot for some beers and a sharing platter!
