Housed on the ground floor of an old Metal Box Factory in the emerging area of Bankside, we have lovingly restored many of the original 19th Century features to create a soft industrial dining room, cocktail & coffee bar, and kitchen dining bar. Featuring our signature ‘well-travelled’ food and drink menus, we have also added House-made charcuterie and cheese to our offering along with House-made kombucha, shrubs and sodas. Our bespoke coffee bar features a custom-built espresso machine and new coffee brewing technology, creating delicious brews for you to have in or take-out. Open all day for breakfast, lunch, brunch, dinner and everything in between, we welcome you for coffee, cocktails, food and relaxed vibes any time!
Caravan bucks the trend with its inventive menu. Thoroughly enjoyed my two Small Plates: Braised puy lentils, green beans, avocado, pecans, pomegranate tahini and Spiced cauliflower, harissa, pomegranate yoghurt, nigella. Then I was blown away by my dessert of Frozen kaffir lime mousse, blueberry compote, pumpkin praline. It was all delicious though some more affordable NZ wines would have been welcome.
Amazing! Would go again!!
Cozy place, beautiful food and excellent service!! Highly recommend!
We went for a week day lunch with a friend and I'd heard great things about Caravan so was really looking forward to it. The food was delicious - so fresh and tasty, and the decor and ambience were great too. The only downside was the service, which was some of the worst I've experienced in a long time. I'm not sure if they were under staffed or the waitress was new, but after waiting ages we had to wave someone down to get served. When she stopped she wasn't particularly friendly and ran off after taking our order without even asking my friend if he'd like to drink. So we had to wave her down again to order another drink which she then forgot about. Eventually we received all our food and drinks, but it definitely put me off a bit. If they could train the waiters and waitresses better I'll think they'd be on to a winner. So all in all lovely food, but terrible service.
Brilliant service and really delicious food - I’ll be back soon
Table was 15mins late being ready.
Didn’t think it was clear that on a Sunday only the Brunch menu was available even for reservations at 2.15pm.
Having the air con on strong as well as the windows fully open was a bit crazy and not very good on an environment basis. Music was fairly loud for me.
food was good although disappointed some things on the menu were not available only found this out later on.
service was poor, slow, didn't care did not match up to the food experience.
music was too loud
Staff were pretty rude (no niceties or smiles) and had poor knowledge of the food/drink on offer.
Service was extremely slow even though we were after the lunchtime crowd (eating at about 3pm)
My friend got the wrong desert and was charged twice for it.
Breakfast here is so delicious and such a lovely way to start the day. The veggie breakfast is excellent, even when the staff chuckle that you order a sausage on the side!!!
The food was amazing and plenty for special diets. I love the sharing food vibe, the wine is good too. Would say it’s just a touch over priced for what you get and found a couple of the waitresses a bit patronising
Food, ambience and coffee were brilliant. I took my team out for breakfast and we all enjoyed the food and the coffee. The only thing that spoiled my experience was that I had to wait for 25 minutes before someone came to attend to me. I would've preferred if someone attended to me 2-5 minutes after I got seated to ask whether I wanted any coffee. As I was waiting for 2 other people to arrive, it would've been nice to have been given that offer.
The food was really lovely, especially enjoyed the small plates and the mackerel main. But our waitress did forget to put our order through so we waited a long time. They gave us our mains as goodwill, which was a nice gesture, so it all turned out fine :)
Excellent breakfast options.... good value.... definitely recommend
Had some small plates to share - lamb, tofu, puy lentil salad and a large chicken rice dish. All very good quality and lots of flavour.
Eaten here twice consistent and good.
Excellent cocktail bar good measures and really knowledgeable team. Nice vibe lively and friendly
A good experience and food always very good quality. Only criticism is Too much avocado on avocado on toast but very pleasant none the less!
Good atmosphere, easy going with a good interior palette.
Healthy and delicious food, punctual and friendly service. Lamb meatballs are a must try.
Lively vibe. Food is innovative and fresh. Lots of small plates for sharing makes it fun and an opportunity to taste a range of amazing dishes.
Recommended if you want a nice room close to The Globe etcetera and not mad busy. Service literally indifferent though and small plates showed miserly portions, poor value and too often one note flavours. Disappointing, in a word.
Very grumpy waitress, expensive food , but otherwise nice
Had a first date here but have been on a number of occasions previously. Great food as always but service was very patchy. They were slow to provide us with menus, quick with our orders but then slow at getting more drinks and desert even when the waitress was at the next table. We tried getting her attention a few times and she didn’t even look our way and we had to go up to the bar to ask for service in the end. This wouldn’t put me off coming back but some training might be in order.
We arrived early round 7.30 PM. Not much people. No ambiance. No music. Very dark. Food was ok, we took veggie bowls. Ok, but not special. Very spicy and not much sauce. I don't think we come here again..looked better on the website.
Very happy with our evening at Caravan. Staff were amazing, patient and very friendly. Pizza really good value and tasty. Totally recommended.
My family and I had a great dinner at Caravan Bankside. As it was fairly quiet, we were not hurried and were able to relax and enjoy the evening catching up.
We had a selection of small plates, a pizza, a couple of starters and a grain bowl. I've been to Caravan several times, and it would usually be one of my first recommendations. The service was fantastic, and in general I enjoyed the meal.
The pizza lacked mozzarella and came with a mere thimble of parmesan, and the rhubarb vanilla drink had too strong a tang of gone-off milk, but the rest of the meal was brilliant.
I went to the Caravan at Exmouth Market in its early days and loved it - it had a real buzz and the food was amazing. The Bankside venue lacks that buzzy atmosphere and the food was so-so - definitely better than your average chain restaurant but not the mind-blowing taste sensation I was hoping for. And the service was decidedly lacklustre - our waiter seemed vaguely bored and wasn't really able to answer our questions about the menu. The cocktails were good though!
Bottom line: it's a good option for a decent dinner if you're in the Bankside area but I wouldn't make a special trip.
This was my 4th time at this restaurant and overall it was disappointing. We were a table of 6. Service was cheerful and attentive but there was, at times, a lack of knowledge about the dishes. The food varied: some good dishes, some were mediocre. The chicken & beans main was overcooked & tasteless. Two of the guests ordered crispy pork belly. Both dishes arrived cold. The waitress didn't know if it was supposed to be served cold or hot but offered to take the dishes to the kitchen to be heated. They returned to the table luke-warm.
I have been a huge fan of the various branches of Caravan over the years. I hope that this was just an off-night.
The service is amazing and food imaginative and delicious. But what's up with those ittie bittie proportions with macro sized prices? It's good but it's not THAT good
Good, fast service. Not too loud so I could hear my colleagues speak.
Tasty , interesting, imaginative dishes were our best experience so far this year. Set inside a lofty ,visually interesting old print works not to be missed. Saturday evening buzzing , not too full, just right. Compliments to the staff and the chefs ( in view ).
All felt very rushed. We ordered nibbles and starters and mains. It all came at once. We had finished eating within 30 minutes of sitting down.
omg, the food is just so delicious! Everything else was good, no complains.
Pretty average - breakfast wasn’t as good as the lunch I had
Delicious food. Superb service - relaxed and helpful with menu choices.
Excellent as usual.. their were a couple of small plates unavailable which is the only complaint. However the recommended alternative were very good.
Love this restaurant and it's menu visit frequently. Unfortunately our last visit was disappointing, we had to wait far too long for our meal to arrive. Great atmosphere , overpriced wine. Will try Cannon Street next time.
Caravan always offers good food delivered by friendly professional staff . The staff really know the menu and their recommendations are valid. I have been to most of the branches in London and the one at Bankside has a decidedly local community feel.

Amazing food 😍
We went to Caravan on a Friday night for my mum's birthday. The food was delicious. The music was a bit too loud to talk comfortably but you could just about manage without shouting. The main feedback i would give is that the staff were not friendly, they were efficient and did there jobs well but without smiling or interacting at all beyond asking for our order. It would have been nice to see more smiles and a welcoming attitude.

We (myself and a friend who I haven’t seen in ages) had a lovely evening and catch up at Caravan. The food was excellent - we each had a starter and then two of the smaller plates and a side as a main (which was plenty). Wine (an Argentinian Malbec) was also excellent and one which I will be going in search of for the cellar. Service was warm and generally pretty speedy (except for one wayward side) and we generally had no complaints. I would definitely recommend it here and I shall be coming again!!
