With a long history of being in the business, including restaurants such as Il Mulino and Barolo, Carisma prides itself on offering impeccable real Italian food and quality service.
Carisma epitomizes the overall dining experience. Whether it is a drink at the bar, or a culinary journey where you enjoy food with your senses first. It is a place where you feel at home and coming for years, even if its your first time.
The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. Beautiful atmosphere. But like all restaurants with hard surface flooring, it got quite noisy as it filled up.
Carisma is always phenomenal. I have been here many times for business and personal dining. The food is top notch. The mood is energetic. If you want to have an excellent dining experience with owners that welcome you at the door go to Carisma.
Only negative comment is about the noise level - very hgh. Nice to see guests enjoying themselves but the tables are very close, the restauant is very popular and the noise level is HIGH!
Everything els wa very nce.
Would go,again (maybe with earphones)
Nice they were open on a Mnday.
Fantastic service and good food. Chicks were excellent as well, with a nice bar at which to wait for your table. Will go back.
Last night for my husand's birthday dinner, I was very disappointed to receive a bill of over $800 for 5 people. The waiter misled us about the antipasti plate, he described one plate with everything on it for everyone and the proceeded to serve each person a tray ($24 each) of antipasti. We only ordered one bottle of wine and one bottle of San Pelligrino sparking water. However, we received two additional (not ordered by us) bottles of wine. No one at the table ordered the wine. I thought someone else ordered from our table, but that was not the case. There was non-stop San Pelligrino water brought to our table on a regular basis, again, I thought other people had ordered it. This shady behaviour, taking advantage of people at the table who were in deep conversations, and no one checked in with me from the beginning of the evening. The wait bull-dozed us into more food and drink that we could have ever imagined. It was deceitful and shady for such a so-called high class restaurant. High class means treating your guests with respect, asking if they need anything else, not just bringing things to the table. My guests were horrified that they had to pay about $189 per person for this excessive meal and wine. Very disappointing - we were essentially sucked into more than we asked for. I will say the food is excellent, but I think the way we felt when we left was very upsetting to all of us. We were gobsmacked! I will not go to this restaurant or recommend it to anyone because of their tactics. They are bullies!
Food was very good. Friendly staff although we felt very rushed. Didn’t have much privacy (someone was constantly hovering over us) or time to enjoy our food which was disappointing.
Amazing Service great food❣️
Everything was great. I proposed to my girlfriend without giving heads up to restaurant but they brought two glass of Champaign and an sparkler candle. The servers were amazing
We were quite underwhelmed by our meals. Although the truffle appetizer was delicious, our entrees were very disappointing, especially for the price. The risotto was undercooked, and the lamb and halibut were over cooked. Our server never asked us how our meals were, or why we didn't eat much off our plates. Seemed more interested in other customers. We won't be back.
Best service and best food! Never disappoints!
We felt so welcomed at carisma. The host referred to us by name all night and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious!
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Carisma! We were greeted at the door by the owner. Ambience is very warm and elegant. I had the spaghetti with shrimp...seems simple enough but everything was perfectly cooked and it had a lovely flavour. My husband loved the lamb and raved about it.
Desserts were delicious.
Overall, we thought it was good value for what we experienced.
We went inclined to enjoy ourselves so it would have taken an unfortunate series of events to derail us. Fortunately that did not occur.
Right from the get go service was impeccable. We started with flutes of prosecco, the ticklish bubbles of which foretold good things.
The wine steward and I had a short discussion on the merits of their selection of wines of the Piedmont and we decided on a nice ‘15 Barbera and a couple of glasses of Arneis to go with our salad and calamari appetizers.
We had the pasta special which consisted of home made tagliolini caccia e pepe with white truffles generously shaved on top.
She had the halibut special while I went more traditional with veal and porcini.
Coffee, amaro and limoncello, and a torte di noce finished us off and we tottered off into the night, fully satisfied.
Our waiter Joey was exceptional - full of the perfect amount of energy, knowledge and professionalism. The food was outstanding as was the atmosphere.
Looking forward to our return!
We visit Toronto a couple of times a year and had not been to Carisma since they moved. Very glad we went again, some of the same staff are still there and it is much brighter on the inside. The good and service as always was great,
Delicious we loved everything we had. Service was excellent. Glad to have found this great spot, we will be back!
Great food wonderful service
Always an amazing dining experience - great food and service.
Excellent pasta and dessert and excellent service. ( spaghettini with prawns and pappardelle with wild boar and cream brûlée’s.
Delicious dinner and the service was impeccable!
Love this place
Great service, high quality food. The espresso was bitter.
Friendly greeting as soon as we arrived for a late lunch. Our waiter was great and the food was amazing! Service was very fast, but we certainly did not feel rushed. Would definitely return!
The food was excellent! It was my boyfriends birthday and the waiter was informed. They were bringing out sparkler deserts so I was hopeful they would do something for him. Nope! Was offered the desert menu. Extremely disappointed. Especially seeing everyone around us with birthday deserts.
The food was extremely hurried, before we knew it we had the main in front of us which we did not appreciate. We had to ask them to give us a minute to finish our bottle of wine before ordering dessert lol
Apart from the fast food turn out, it was a good experience. Absolutely delicious from the start to finish.
Note to self: book for pre theatre dinners or anytime a quick dinner is in order.
We had a really good time to be honest at Carisma. Service was great, Amadeo was great. Only problem was price. The bottle of wine while good was not worth 65$. The pasta di giorno was a white truffle pasta was good but not worth $80. We also had the 34 ounce t-bone, probably the best value at $140 (came with veg and mashed potatoes). We also had the gnocchi and a nutella creme brulee (not great). In all our bill was about $430 for 6 people (3 adults, 3 kids).
I ordered the grilled Mediterranean Sea bass, whole fish, while my friend had it filleted. We ordered the burrata to share. Delicious food, good service. The wine was also quite good. It was a bit noisy but overall nice ambiance. It was my second time there. Would return.
The staff, service and food is always excellent. Great attention to watching the drinks and food consumption and timing the next course perfectly. From being greeted warmly at the door to appreciative good-byes at the end, I always have a memorable dining experience.
The ambiance was really nice, very elegant. The food was amazing, specifically the lamp chops that I had was the best and the pasta my husband had (but portions were quite small). However, the waiter sharing the specials at the beginning and continually pointing out how "expensive" the menu was to us was a HUGE turn off, kind of ruined our night. Not sure if its because we looked young or because we are people of colour or that's just how he shared the special but it was not something we took lightly. Hope the restaurant can use this information to prevent this from happening to others in the future.
Pasta dishes very good
Stay away from veal
No taste on lemon or mushroom veal dish
Also tiramisu very dry pasty Tate with no rum flavor
Fabulous pasta. Great veal dishes and friendly staff. If we lived in Toronto, we’d be there often!
The server was magnifico attending to our every need!
Great service, classy place but low key and just perfect for after work meeting. Italian flavour was good fun and made me smile
The tuna tartare was lacking tonight.... used to be one of the best..... disappointed. Rest was good. Love the service!!
Portions a bit small for the price, but if its a corporate lunch where your not paying the bill, then its ok.
The most reliable restaurant for exquisite food and impeccable service.
Amazing place, brilliant staff, child friendly, one of the best restaurants downtown.
Excellent food, great service and even the wine by the glass was a nice aged Amarone that paired up with the wild boar ragu. Accommodating to my food restrictions and attention to detail made it a great first experience. I’ll be back for sure. B.
