The restaurant serves a 6-course tasting menu with a focus on natural and low intervention wines.
A reduced snack menu will also be available for those wanting a small bite to accompany the wines on their curated wine list.
What a wonderful place. Kind, attentive and passionate staff, coupled with imaginative, daring and fundamentally delicious food. This is a Hackney gem.
They prepared an exclusive Vegan menu for us and it was delicious. Their service felt extremely professional while coming across as familiar and cozy.
Yes I would, really enjoyed the meal and experience
Genius. Bring everyone you know from your Nan to your Ex!
Absolutely superb seven course meal and tasting wines. Exceptional and creative dishes. Brilliant tasting wines and a wonderful atmosphere in this small restaurant. Incredible meal - one of my very best in 2019. Thank you talented team of Casa Fo-Fo. Nichola x
Amazing place, amazing experience! Definitely will be one of our neighbourhood staples!
My 4th visit to Casa Fofo and each time the food has been excellent and with a different menu each time.
The wine pairing is also very good and such good value. Will definitely recommend to friends
Enjoyed the tasting menu. Excellent service. Lovely wines. Really good value. Would recommend for the creative and tasty menu. We will be back!
It was a fantastic dinner - the food was inventive as well as just very tasty. Great ingredients, new ways, fun but precise presentation. One of the best meals I had this year!
Tried to book Casa Fofo for a month as there was considerable buzz surrounding it. Really exciting to see more fine dining/experimental restaurants opening in East Ldn but was disappointed with lack of creativity of the menu, slow service and value for money. We had the tasting menu wit wine pairing. Wine pairing was weak, understandably they use organic/sustainable wines but didn’t really match the dishes. They added extras in the tasting menu and didn’t mention it was for additional price, so we ended up paying for more than we were prepared. Staff asked if we are ready for cheese or want charcuterie but didn’t make it clear it was extra. We also sat downstairs in a quite cold room around a counter seating. It was far from the convivial atmosphere they aimed to create as we often found ourselved wondering when someone would come downstairs again to check on us, bring us our next drinks or plates. Most disappointing part of the evening was the dishes though, the fish in a ceviche was hard to chew, the roast pork was lazy (can have the same in a pub) oven baked cheese was even more lazy for desert. The charcuterie platter which was an extra was disasteous, basically just grease the whole plate was white. The service was delayed and felt a bit rushed whenever they came downstairs to explain the dishes. There are many good restaurants within the same price range that are much better value for money in the area, highly recommend Pidgin for example. While we appreciate the effort it’s a bit too ambitious to call it a revelation.
Staff were very friendly and knew their stuff. Food was great too. Very much enjoyed it.
This small restaurant in Hackney serves an exciting and lovely prepared set menu, served by the chefs. Dishes were packed with lots of Japanese umami flavours: there were a couple of dashi based broths which, combined with other flavours such as sesame and mushrooms, were a delight for the tastebuds. The main course of pork with pear was a great combination. Nori ice cream was the only low point - too adventurous for our liking - but it may appeal to some. The dessert including shitaki mushrooms was a success, so the experimentation paid off in that instance. The wines are mostly bio-dynamic / low intervention and were a bit light with too little complexity for my liking, but they worked well with the dishes. Overall, a superb place for fine dining and one of the best places to eat in Hackney.
Exceptional food and attentive, hospitable service. Beautiful evening
Fabulous evening at Casa Fofó for my partner's 30th. Food was AMAZING with virtually every course a real stop-you-in-your-tracks experience. Hugely clever, witty and unforgettable plates. Delightful service from a very knowledgeable and personable young sommelier/maitre d'/FoH, and the chef's bringing different courses to your table. Open kitchen and small space made it feel very friendly, informal, and welcoming. And I think brilliantly value for the quality and the quantity of the experience.
All fairly adventurous and you don't get to choose - it's just the same 7-9 course tasting menubfot everyone - so it's one for the foodies, not for a mixed-ability crowd. But it was really stunning, one of the best meals I've ever had.
Amazing food, will return. But the counter seating was in fact shared tables in the basement, which we did not expect. The shared table was fine, the basement musty smell and the noise from the next table were tiring.
Very good food, a little crammed And busy for the space available. Nice people. Lovely night with in all. Would go again
Fantastic. Loved it. Great vegetarian tasting menu. Will go back!
Must-go to place in Hackney - get there before it gets too big! Fantastic food - I've been there a few times now, and I've always been surprised by the choice of food. 10/10
Second meal at Casa F was again an exploration of taste - monkfish with sliced grape, celeriac a revelation, beef with beets - all beautifully explained and wine paired. All just five minute walk from home!
One of the best restaurants in town with inventive cuisine and natural wines !
One of the best dining experience ever , fantastic service and excellent cuisine! :) a must go and repeat for sure
Beautiful food and lovely service. Outstanding, thoughtful wine pairing. We'll be back!
Unpleasant experience with hosts that brought the uptight unaccommodating air of Parisian service to Hackney.... We were sat at the “counter” which is in fact a table in the freezing cold basement. Very deceptive to be told over the phone it was the “counter”....
The food seems cheap at £39 pp set menu but then you pay an extra £7 twice for two extra dishes... and with a bottle of wine (their wine list is poor value for the price) on top, our bill for two was £200. The food and wine is nowhere near as good as Pidgin - where we dined the following night for the same price.... all meat was overcooked or gristly...
Very underwhelming and disappointing - the many good reviews this restaurant has are probably due to a younger less experienced client base who are attracted to a £39 pp set menu.....
Oh and the wine pairing has wines that are not for sale on the normal list (which we were not told) so when we tried to order off list (a glass or a bottle) it was a flat non - with zero effort to try and accommodate us.... frustrating and exactly as you would expect in an uptight French establishment... and exactly what you go to Hackney to get away from....
This is our favourite local in Hackney. We‘ve been several times now, and have been dazzled and impressed each time! The wine pairings are always a hit. A real winner.
First time we’ve been, I took my wife for her birthday. We both absolutely loved it. Every dish was fantastic, even the ones with ingredients that I had thought I wouldn’t like. Service was sublime, the chefs bring you your food and explain each dish. You can watch them cooking and tell that they are having a great time. Would highly recommend!! Thank you.
Outstanding food however the length of wait, over 1 hour, to get our first course was the reason for the 4 stars not 5. Lovely friendly ambience.
Really amazing!! Such good value for money and every course and wine pairing was sensational!
We love this place. This was the second time.
They are just passionate about their food, so 'get with the programme', listen to what they are saying and they will tailor the food to your taste - veggie, fishy, meaty. Then they'll offer the right wine to go with your choice. And it will be good, I guarantee.
And the wine? you'll never have heard of it but it's carefully selected and is just right.
Nice too that you can see the chefs at work - the open kitchen is a stage and the performance is all part of the experience.
And the food? Well, get in there and get ready to be delighted.
It's my second time at Casa Fofo'. The food is excellent ! Very interesting combinations.
I loved the fennel ice cream with persimmons.
Very much appreciated that staff made us feel welcome as normal people, experiencing a fancier meal than we normally would.
Nice little restaurantwith exposed bricks, nice low level lighting and "open plan kitchen" directly in the restaurant. Tables were tightly packed, which I guess it's the price to say for the, great value tasting menu. Service was very friendly, although I strongly suspect there was a mistake with our wine pairing (at least two other tables were given a cloudy white wine with the jerusalem artichokes, we were given a South African red - not a bad combo, as i t went with the eargthiness of the artichokes, but not perfect, as the sauce was tangy/sharp and it had fish caviar). The dishes were all pretty good, especially the lamb main course. At just over £150 for two with wine pairing, can't really complain.
Fabulous! Food was amazing, creative, clever and delicious!
Service is personal and friendly. :)
A lot of restaurants claim to make the dining experience personal “like you are eating in our home” Casa Fofó actually delivers on this. The taster menu was varied and fantastic, the cooks deliver each course to your table and tell you about each dish. Attention to detail is fantastic, every dish looking as good as it tastes. The wine list is unusual, but refreshingly simple and un-intimidating- one sparkling (a Riesling but not too sweet), three white, three red, one orange, one desert all but two available by the glass. When I asked for something a little stronger at the end of the meal the waiter made me his take on a negroni which was delicious and balanced. You really feel looked after here. Go before they get too popular and move to a bigger venue!
A modest restaurant with a five star food experience - blending Asian themes with European ingredients this was a wonderful and unexpected evening of food prepared by Sam and his team, and outstanding service paired with wine pairings explained by Marika.
Loved it, interesting combinations of ingredients with great taste
Only negative point would be that it took quite a while in between courses (i.e. on average 20 mins or so before we got the next course) making it quite a long sitting
Keep up the good work!
Best meal I have had in London. Everything was perfect and staff were so lovely. Would highly recommend saying YES to the cheese course. It was amazing.
Beautiful again.. An evening full of food discoveries and subtle arrangements. The team is exceptional as well. One of the rare place where the atmosphere and the food is at its top.
My friends and I had a great time at Casa Fofó and really enjoyed the food!
Incredible food, such a reasonable price. Couldn't recommend more.
Once again, a fantastic tasting menu with inventive dishes and excellent wine pairing
