Great time during our 'Umlinited' Afternoon tea. Very nice take on how to host an Afternoon Tea, good idea to be able to select only items you actually like.

At first my wife and I were 15 minutes early so told to wait in the bar. We were told we would be seated by a member of staff but she actually forgot. We waited almost half an hour while watching people who came in after us being directly seated in the dining area . We had to ask the manager if we could go in. Sandwiches were basic. Bread tasted stale/hard. Mostly white bread. Unappetising fillings with no salad or garnish ( tomato/cucumber/lettuce etc) . Over use of mayonnaise in fillings( egg, tuna fillings). Not much choice or healthy options . Greasy sausage rolls. Tasteless egg “quiche” . Only offered one cup of tea/ coffee. Couldn’t find staff for more. Cakes were ok. Not anything special. Very bland/ tasteless. Cakes aren’t cut well so picking up was difficult with the cake slice or tongs therefore making a mess . Tongs for sandwiches had sandwich filling of different sandwiches on them, so if you were not able to eat egg , then cross contamination onto another sandwich would occur. My wife told the manager. of her food intolerances and he did come back to tell her what she should avoid . So not much choice. The choice , mostly of white bread was unsuitable for my wife with gluten intolerance. She had two quarter tuna sandwiches . One ham and cheese , one slice of cheesecake and one cup of tea. Not impressed and certainly not worth the price . Shocking. Overall the food quality was below average, with the whole experience being very disappointing. Would not recommend it and can’t understand why anyone would give it a good review. Would get a better afternoon tea at a cafe

The Cask and Clyde has a lovey atmosphere, and the decor is beautiful. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The food on the unlimited Afternoon Tea was fantastic, lots of choice and food constantly being topped up, so it's super fresh. There were 10 of us celebrating my birthday and everyone agreed we would like to go back again.

Limited choice but food is good. Difficult to cut a single slice of cake.. Would be better if already cut and put on individual plates to pick up.

This is probably our 4th or 5th visit and all have been great. This one was too up to a point. Have noticed this time the " Glass of Cava " was not a glass but more like half a glass ! I realise this may be said to be dependent on the pourer ? But I did seem to notice that some of the staff were pouring a little less that usual. So not sure if this is a new protocol to save money or not but it is off putting to be short changed on the bubbles ! Food as always was top drawer and staff discreet and polite. But there when needed. Still a very classy afternoon tea.

Slow service, odd decor (plastic Sakura trees), ripped sofas, Christmas lights on the ceiling, place was empty so there was no need to book in advance, manager didn’t even acknowledge our booking. Soup and pork starter wasn’t hot, but since it was my birthday I didn’t want to complain. The booking asked if it was a special occasion and I stated it was a birthday celebration… didn’t feel the manager paid any attention to that, why ask in the booking? Or perhaps other places make some kind of effort to celebrate a customer. Will not return :/
