Food was pretty standard for a fish and chip restaurant. The service was ok, although I felt as if we were a burden to the staff sometimes and any questions we asked were a nuisance to them.
Excellent food with lots of Gluten Free options. Friendly, happy staff
Decent fish restaurant with some excellent value in a no-nonsense setting. Great for fish and chips with tasty grilled as well as fried options. Good value wines and friendly service. Surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night but they said busy time was 6-8 that evening.
We arrived 20 mins late (having warned that we might be late) at 2220. The restaurant was closed.
Great service and fab food .
Friendly and attentive staff.
Very good value for money
Great food, good value, excellent attentive service
Very drafty with the front door either being kept open or constantly opening (was an automatic motion-sensored door). I guess to keep the smell down or the cooks cool. It was my first experience with British fish and chips, so I was super excited. Ultimately, it did not live up to my expectations. The fish was soggy - both fried and grilled. We got some seasoning on the grilled and they really drenched the fish in it. It was a powder seasoning too. The chips were mushy on the inside and soft on the outside. I was hoping for something a bit crispier on the outside. I have to imagine there's better places in Bristol for fish and chips.
Staff & food very good , will definatly go back again
Thoroughly enjoyed the food. The waitresses were very friendly and smiley. There was a problem processing our wine order so they had come back after 5 minutes to retake the order. They apologies and it wasn't a big deal. Food was delicious. We ordered an extra side of fried Halloumi but it wasn't necessary, the portion of chips is a good size. More expensive than your average chippy but the food is much better and you can eat in.
Fabulous little find (the venue has a small frontage but goes way back) with lovely staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Portions are hearty and gluten free awareness was brilliant.
Loved it - I will return 😀
Excellent food, friendly service and comprehensive gluten free choices. We went twice in the same week!
Booked thinking this was a Fish restaurant. On arriving found it’s a fish & chip shop with some tables... Not how it’s shown on here.
On the plus side, the food was ok.
Although this was a Groupon offer I would definately return. From the moment we entered the restaurant to a cheery hello and excellent waiting service with a smile we knew we were on to something good. We had the fish and chips which was freshly cooked and excellent to taste. Definately recommend.
Took the kids after a visit to the museum, quality and portions are good, service as with a big smile. Would definitely go back - oh and the fish and chips were excellent
Food & service very good as always.
Good Gluten free fish & chips
Fish and Chips were lovely , great service friendly atmosphere .
Food was superb; hot, fresh and tasty. sadly there was a nasty smell of drains or bins which was off putting, possibly coming up the stairs. it was also freezing cold, which was not fun. we ate quickly and left, shame because we all enjoyed our food and they had a good selection of drinks and the like we would otherwise have stayed on for.
Excellent chippy. Helpful counter staff and kind waitress. A great selection on the menu - something for everyone - but the main items where great chips and fish.
Lovely meal, really fab waitress, would thoroughly recommend. The only negative was that it was a very cold evening and the front door opening and closing as people walked by made it cold inside.
Will definitely come back.
Very nice fish and chips I’m glad I stopped in, would definitely go back
Wonderful fish restaurant. Family run, great finish selection, fast & pleasant service. Best in Bristol.
Early evening meal prior to visiting the Hippodrome - recommended by many on trip advisor & lived up to the reviews. Really nice place to relax, service was great & the food was very good. All in all a great experience which we'll do again.
Friendly service, good fish n chips, good beer and wine. Good value for money. Have visited twice now, will come again. Recommend
Without a doubt, probably the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. The service was good and friendly too. Can’t wait to go back.
A real jewel in Bristol! The best fish and chips i've had in a long time, i had the Plaice and wow was it nice so fresh and delicate. The batter is simple devine, light and super crispy!! The portion size in my opinion is quite generous which is a good thing. I also had a craft cider which was really nice and light not to strong! After i had a flatwhite to finish, which to my surprise was really nice!! The young blonde waitress was very friendly and attentive!! Would highly recommend Catch22.
Lovely place, great location and friendly efficient service. Amazing food, the gluten free batter was delicious and the chips are just amazing. Our second visit and will definitely go again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends. Really great for pre-matinee theatre lunch.
Fantastic food. We had lovely spicy prawns and really good calamari as starters to share, followed by fantastic cod and chips. Excellent friendly service. Definitely be back next time we're in Bristol.
I found this place via a Google search and am pleased I did because had I not, I would simply have walked past it!!
This little restaurant at the back of the shop has a nice atmosphere and is great for tea!
The food choices are good and the quality of the food was excellent. All freshly cooked and a waitress service. I would recommend you give it a try!
I am a coeliac & had previously read they have separate fryers and were aware of cross contamination etc. Was very happy to have a cod & chips meal with no worries, and it was delicious. Would visit again and would recommend
The best fish and chips I have ever had. Fantastic!
Realy Enjoyed the food even though the Breaded Place was just a little overcooked. "Very Crunchy." My wife enjoyed her calamari very much. The service was great with a young girl who was very attentive. For a plate of fish and chips the cost was fairly high but the ambiance was very friendly. Left a reasonable tip for the young girl as i believe she was worth it.
Convenient location for Bristol Hippodrome. Excellent menu choice and the quality of the food was amazing, clean plates all round. Service lovely, efficient and friendly. Will definitely go back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
