Great food! Cool decor! Can’t wait to come back when the patio is open!
food was excellent. poor selection of generic commercial beers on tap. adding a few microbrewed would be great. Accessible door openers not working. I won't be able to go back until they fix it.
The food is consistently very good. The temperature in the restaurant is always too cold and I have to leave my coat on. I shouldn't have to leave my coat on when I eat. The fans were not on because your furnace was not working and there really was no heat. When the fans are on, it makes it feel colder. You really should keep it at a more comfortable temperature. The music is too loud. It's so dark it's hard to read the menu. I also find it too cold when I dine in the summer. I would recommend Cause & Effect to a friends because the food is so good, but would warn about the noise level, and cold temperature.
Food was excellent, once we got to our table which was 20 minutes past our reservation time, the service was good. It was a good 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged by anybody let alone the hostess and there were plenty of staff around. We waited another 5 minutes before the hostess suggested we sit at the bar to wait for our table. Would have appreciated this suggestion when we walked in had there been a hostess at the entrance post to suggest it. It was our first visit and first impression wasn't good but once seated, it was great!
Really nice place, pleasant atmosphere, stopped by one afternoon when it was quiet. Cocktails were amazing and food was great. Personally would like to see more shareable options on the menu.
Great place. 10/10. Love it. Just wish it was in the downtown.
We celebrated Valentines Day and the free Cinnamon Heart Smoking Martini was amazing! The food was fantastic! I had the Steak Teriyaki on a bed of udon noodles with mixed veggies. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare. My boyfriend had the Big Mac Tacos and thought they were spectacular! The live music was good. The bartenders were all very informative and dressed in pink and red for the occasion.
The food and wait staff was great. However, we found ourselves waiting for other people's plates to arrive at almost 10-15 mins later. So everyone got their plates at different times. The waiter was absolutely great and obliged to a birthday request.
I went for my 19th birthday and I thought the restaurant was amazing. It’s so close to my house but I never thought to go until then. I recommended it to all my friends. I got the burger with the grilled cheese buns which was AMAZING! Definitely going to go back!
It’s a really cool atmosphere and the house cocktails are really fun and exciting. Expensive for cocktails but you’re paying mor for the experience of them so they are worth a try.
The service was less than stellar, all of the staff were pleasant enough for sure, just there is no attentiveness, small things like not refilling water or offering any condiments/salt and pepper or clearing empty plates and glasses. And the food was definitely nothing special although that being said, for the price you can’t complain too much about unseasoned chicken.
It’s more of a place to hang out for cocktails than going for a meal. So in the right circumstance I would offer it as a suggestion for people to try.
Great drinks and food. Looking forward to our next visit.
Had an amazing time here, food was excellent and so were the drinks. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is very warm. Love this place!!!
Enjoyed our food. Staff was some what attentive and willing to help with suggestions.
We went on a Monday night which is $1.00 oysters. The drinks were a bit overpriced. The lemon drop martini tasted cheap and watered down unfortunately. The mojito was fantastic however. The chicken tenders and waffle fries were delicious! Worth the price. The oysters were salty and fresh tasting. Can't go wrong with buck a shuck! The staff took a while to take our orders considering it wasn't overly busy but maybe that was just circumstantial. Overall good experience but will definitely look into a different drinks next time :)
Yes - for the food but not for the vibe. It’s just a super casual bar with TVs and bright lighting. But the food is GREAT!
The restaurant was cluttered and dirty.
We only ordered appetizers but had to wait a little longer than expected for them to arrive. It took some time before waitress came around so we could order a 2nd drink.
On a minor note, maybe dress up the bloody Caesar’s a bit. Even a lime with the bean would help.
Overall good experience. Had run out of Prosecco which was disappointing for this time of year. Salmon was good. Salad was mediocre. Service was good. Ambience was ok.
Great food and awesome restaurant concept
We attended Cause & Effect Bar for our Company Christmas party. The food was amazing, the staff were very friendly and down to Earth and assertive.
Worst service that I have ever received. Under staffed and the waitress was rude. We were seated for 30 minutes before anyone came to the table, then the drinks were watered down. More than one party left before they ordered as service was so slow. We had our appetizer then went across the street to a different restaurant where we had a great experience. The only good thing about the restaurant was the live music.
Our meals were nice portions. Arrived quick and the price was very reasonable. I had the cauliflower and I couldn’t eat it quick enough for it was so delicious. My friend got the funnel fries for dessert and oh my gosh again it was so delicious. Yum yum 😋
Best bar in town! Food, service, music and everything else was great!
Very surprised with the quality and portions. We went for $1 oysters on a Monday evening at 8pm. Restaurant wasn't busy at all. Portions were huge and prices are good. We will definitely be returning again!
It was my birthday, usually, I am not one to complain about things, but there was a list of things that went wrong:
1) We had dinner reservations for 7:30pm. They had to squeeze us in a very tight spot because they were ready for us and then moved us 30 minutes later.
2) Drinks were coming out very slow. We finally got to order our meals when the server came around at 8:15 (45 mins later).
3) The meals came out at 9:30pm.. over an wait for our food, the appetizers came at the same time as the food so we did not have any room on the table to eat and they knowingly knew we had to be somewhere by 10:00pm for another event. They were told multiple times.
4)Being it was my birthday, I was not even offered a dessert to go, and nothing was even taking off the bill for the inconvenience. I wasn't trying to get anything free... but usually, birthdays are celebrating and the service was awful.
Needless to say, the restaurant was not that busy, and unfortunately, now do not want to go back.
Jez was a great host!! He was so much fun and definitely got our party started!! The food was phenomenal! The portions are very generous and drinks are reasonably priced!! DJ was also awesome, he played a big variety of music - old r&b was where it’s at!! Overall we had an amazing time we’re already planning our next visit!!
Thanks Jez!! Xo
Food was pricey for what it was. Nothing was outstanding. Good salad and cauliflower bits were good. Rest of meal was meh. For cost of meal there are many better choices. Noise was way too loud. People next to us shouting to be heard did not help. Beer ordered came in can (we were okay with this) but no glass offered to pour it into. Appetizer was to share, no side plates offered. We won’t return.
Amazing service, great food, comfortable seating. Love that you can but the kitchen staff a round for end of night as well. Will most certainly return and have already recommended them to friends. Can't wait to try the Nacho and Surf and Turf platters.
Great food, great service, an overall good night. Wasn't quite sure what I would expect but was pleasantly surprised.
Greeters were dismissive and unfriendly. We had reservations but had to wait. When we finally got our table, it was too noisy so we left.
The food was delicious, service excellent and we had a very nice time. The ambiance was more of a sports bar but we still had a very nice time. There was a large table beside us that sort of took over the area and their kids were running around. Not the restaurants fault. Just bad parenting! I’m sure it would be really nice out on the patio in warmer weather. Overall it was very good!
Food was delicious. The Big Mac tacos were amazing!!!
The martinis with the dry ice is a nice touch and a fun drink!
Absolutely amazing time! Staff and manager went above and beyond to make sure we had an amazing girls night out. Thank you Cause and Effect, such a great night Friday night. The DJ was amazing as well.
Service was barely average (our appetizer arrived after our entrees). The decor is a strange mishmash—like the designer couldn’t make up their mind. It was too bright and too chilly (overhead cans blowing at max speed). The pasta dish was really good and the burger was filling and just a little too much BBQ sauce for my taste. Probably won’t be back.
There was a lot of hype about this restaurant ! The staff was friendly but never brought what we asked for. Food was sub par, salty and just not what it should be for the price. The best thing on the menu was the Big Mac tacos and the $100 surf and turf platter. When we tip it’s usually based on the service so I was surprised when the gratuity was already added to our bill. I understand for big groups it makes it fair but then the service should be spot on.
Great food and great service especially when fan was too cold and breezy manager guy offered to fix issue. Waitress could have done so but didn’t ask. She seemed aloof. Overall very happy.
It was a millenials watering hole, with Instagram worth specialty drinks that were flash in the pan. The Land and Sea platter looked disappointing at the table next to us, the nachos we had were ok and the drinks not bad. The tables were totally ackward with beams sitting in the strangest places. The noise level was that of a jet plane. If it wants to appeal to us it better up it's game and lower the noise level
Had the wings which were pretty good. Wish they had a few dry rub options...overall good time. Will be back.
We have now eaten at Cause and Effect twice. It was our friends first time. We tried to be understanding of the fact that three people called in sick on a Saturday. When more staff did come in the service did not improve. Although we had a reservation we were left waiting 10 minutes. I have a large walker to go with a large disability and most restaurants simply don’t keep me standing as a courtesy. Not so in your establishment, oour waiter was new , very personable and once he gets a little more assistance I think he will be great. We were seated under a fan and asked to either move or have it turned down unfortunately where they moved us was no better. The hunter chicken was terribley dry and the sauce wasn’t hunter sauce as we have had it. My noodle bowl did not taste of teriyaki although it did the first one I had a month ago was excellent. All in all it was a disappointing evening.
Our server was amazing. Food was so good and different from the same every day stuff. We would definitely go back.
