There was no option for A Sunday roast dinner
The food that was on offer in my opinion didn't match the surrounding
Was snack based not what would be expected of Chatsworth
We were rushed because of tour timings, so, as they cook everything from scratch, we were limited to our choices for lunch. However, what we chose was delicious, well cooked, served quickly & with a smile.
Superb surroundings very pleasant & attentive staff, great food and good value
As on previous visits excellent service and food.
Looking forward to our next visit.
Not quite to the level I expected from the premium dining area, after eating at the orangery in Blenheim I thought it would be more of an experience. The staff worked hard to cope with the numbers (although it was October mid week) and were very pleasant and professional. I think next time I would try one of your other establishments to avoid disappointment.
Lovely restaurant with welcoming and knowledgeable staff. It was a dreary old day when i visited with much rain, which prevented me from doing much outside, but the house itself and the lovely lunch i had made up for this. Very nice indeed.
Tables similar to a school canteen. Small and nondescript.
No atmosphere. More like a cafe than a restaurant, though prices were expensive considering
A pity- our American guests expected something more sumptuous.
Does not give the Chatsworth 'wow' factor.
The menu was a little odd with fish finger sandwich next to sea bass. The website gives the impression of a 3 course meal with traditional dishes I thought the menu and choice was disappointing for Sunday lunch.
Nice food but spoiled by 3 out of the 4 meals being nearly cold. The waitress did offer to make fresh ones but no one wants to do this once everyone has started eating. Also when booking online we were asked if this was for a special occasion. It was in fact for a 70th birthday celebration but this was not acknowledged at all on the day. Such a shame as the setting itself is lovely. Would think twice about going again.
Nice place for lunch! Service was excellent, all members of staff were most helpful. Food average. Chicken in Caesar salad dry.
actually did recommend to other people on our coach trip.
Excellent for a light refreshing meal. All the produce is sourced locally and it shows in the flavours of the food. The service was superb with enough attention but not feeling smothered plus they where fantastic with my two and a half year old Granddaughter, where nothing was too much trouble.
I would highly recommend the Cavendish Restaurant to any of my friends.
Sorry . We went to the Cavendish last year and the menu was more extensive. It was extremely limited this time and we certainly won't be going back again.
We were disappointed and had been really looking forward to a good lunch.
This was doing Chatsworth in style - 2 hours round house followed by a really memorable lunch with excellent and discrete service.
Good menu choices - we had one vegetarian in our party - the homemade burger was to die for and the Puddings were a must
We will definitely be returning
Excellent food & efficient & friendly service.
Noise level from adjoining table with two young families high- they would have been better advised to use the Carriage House restraunt.
We visited as a family of four adults for afternoon tea. Lovely selection of both sandwiches and cakes. The savoury Stilton scones with chutney were a lovely addition and the unlimited tea was also a nice touch. The cocktails were also very good. I should add they no longer do afternoon tea at the Cavendish and so we were seated in The Flying Childers.
Great food at a reasonable price with rwait staff being attentive but in the background
My first visit to Chatsworth and the Cavendish restaurant was well worth it. The service was very efficient. The food was excellent. We ordered the house burgers with salad and chips and were not disappointed.
Will definitely return in the near future. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Good service with pleasant ambiance. Food quality very good.
Having previously visited last year I am pleased to say food and service are still exceptional although not too sure about the menu change to include brunch and lunch - much preferred the previous menu layouts.
Exceptional service again from Dorata who served us on our last visit and well received by Cheryl
Too expensive for what was served, not enough sauce with chicken dish
Lovely lunch - beautiful food, nicely presented and excellent staff
A truly lovely lunch. Great service and good food. They catered very well for the gluten free guest.
Booked a table for lunch with friends. We thought, wrongly as it turns out, that it would be a quite sophisticated restaurant. Although the food was fine, it was mostly what you would get in a cafe, rather than a fine dining restaurant. For example fish finger sandwich, burger and ploughman's. Not at all what we thought.
Lovely staff, lovely surroundings and lovely food!
It was so easy to book a table online. It was lovely to be waited upon and the choice of food was good. The meal was quick to arrive and served hot. The service was excellent and our waitress, Jane, went the extra mile to rid us of some pesky wasps that had sneaked in! It was a brilliant start to an enjoyable day out at Chatsworth. Thank you.
This is the second time we have had afternoon tea at Chatsworth and since last time the price has gone up considerably which I feel is unjustified. Therefore my review reflects that I feel the cost of the meal is only fair and not outstanding.
We eat out a lot if the time. Today are food was average and the price was over the top for the amount of food that was on the plate.
As a restaurant to eat at when visiting Chatsworth House with friends it was perfectly acceptable. Service was excellent and rearranging booked time was not a problem to them, one of our friends arrived late after traffic problems. Food was good but not exceptional considering the price. However we would use the restaurant again when we next visit Chatsworth House as the ambience and waited on table service were fine.
Service was incredible, the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough. The food was delicious, mains and dessert. They went the extra mile for my daughter's 18th too.
This was supposed to be a lovely meal with all the family. Unfortunately it wasn’t.
We all ordered our food and drinks eventually the service was very slow (and there was only two other tables in.)
The restaurant was plagued with wasps, and flies. The wasps were terrible, consistently going near your face and I’d say there were a good twenty plus swarming near us alone. I don’t think anyone likes wasps, but my daughter is particularly frightened of them. They also ended up going into drinks, I asked for another drink as I had a couple in my glass. We were charged for the replacement drink. When our food arrived, one of the meals was requested no salad but came with salad, and lots of it, not a big problem but we took it off. The worst part was the coleslaw on some of the dishes was off. It was sour, and very out of date. I don’t think that there is any excuse for food being out of date and served to a paying customer. It was rather runny so it had spread onto other parts of the meal. So we asked for that particular meal to be replaced as it had ruined the other parts too. No real reasoning or apology. And it was just the bread bun they replaced. I’m sure you can imagine how many wasps we had around us now with the food being there, and we were sat inside a restaurant! We all had to use items to cover our drinks to avoid any further wasps going in to our drinks. We also had a baby with us who the wasps were very keen on.
I think with all the fuss and drama only two people out of six finished their meals. We just wanted to leave. When we got our bill there was no accountability for the drinks which had wasps in, or the fact that “off” food had been served.
I would not recommend this restaurant at all, the service was slow, the ambience of wasps was dreadful, and the food left us very disappointed.
A lovely meal and a great place to meet friends. We sat outside as the weather was lovely. The portion sizes are just right...large enough for lunch but small enough to be able to justify a scrumptious dessert. The trio of honey was absolutely delicious!
Long wait times for food and when it arrived it was raw and had to be returned taking a further 20mins. Ordered an ice cream to keep our little girl occupied whilst waiting for the other meal and this then arrived after the meal had been brought back and eaten! In fairness they knocked the burger off the bill and a further 20% Due to the wait times etc but overall it was a disappointing experience. Shame as we were really looking forward to eating here.
We had a lovely family brunch in beautifully surroundings. The service was excellent, food delicious & well presented. We will definitely return to sample lunch next time.
Staff very welcoming and attentive throughout. They checked upon us in a non-intrusive way and we felt they truly cared about our experience.
Inventive menu excellent food quaint location with generally excellent service
Excellent service, lovely food.
We sat outside in the courtyard on a lovely sunny day.
The water in the tea tasted funny, like it hadn’t been run for long enough or had been re boiled. The 2nd cup was the same. I think there should have been more sandwiches and less cake. The sandwiches were just ok and the cakes weren’t great, we didn’t eat many of them. For the money we spent, we were very disappointed. I wouldn’t come again.
Very enjoyable Sunday lunch served by pleasant staff
