Cecconi's City of London at The Ned
A wonderful experience.. the food was amazing and the experience exceptional but the service was outstanding
Wrong order brought but we didn't have enough time to re-order
Wonderful for a business meal or catch up with friends after work. Amazing food and cocktails!
We were seated 35 minutes late for my girlfriends birthday having rushed from work to get there on time. Little apology and only offered 2 glasses of Prosecco as an apology when we were drinking champagne at the bar. I think they had overbooked too many tables and it was very crowded. The food was average for an Italian and my lobster linguine had shell on the meat showing it was cooked in a rush. We were given our bill before we asked for it which included items we didn’t order. The waiter was funny and tried to rectify it, he is who made the experience nice.
Food was superb and the service at the table faultless. However, the set up at The Ned left a lot to be desired. We went on a Sunday evening which I can imagine is one its quieter times, however the noise, the crowds, the vast open halls - albeit beautiful - with their multiple restaurants and accompanying aromas made for an assault on the senses. It lacked intimacy and refinement, and was on a par with dining in a Vegas gaming hall or when the music lulled, superb music by the way, an airport terminal. In essence, a temple to naff. We have dined at Cecconi's Shoreditch and would recommend this location for its ambiance over The Ned to our friends but I will reiterate that the food was delicious and the table service attentive.
Fantastic venue with live swing band, but sadly the food was a bit sub standard (chewy calamari and bland pizza) and expensive. I’d recommend the Ned but a different restaurant.
I would have preferred Cecconi’s in town rather than in the quiet burbs of the financial district. The food was only ok. Not as much variety as I thought . No crackers or bread with the cheese . No Worcester sauce available when I asked . My husband got the beef which he just couldn’t eat as it was too rare for him . I never saw him leave beef on his plate like he did in your restaurant . I as a vegetarian thought there would be such a wide variety of salads so I was very disappointed . Lucky we had a big breakfast that day .
The setting was magnificent, however, the breakfast at Cecconi’s was not at all worthy of the venue. I ordered eggs benedict, the bread was chewy, the egg was overcooked and the hollandaise sauce had lumps. Very dissapointing. Staff was friendly and helpfull.
Another brilliant night at the ned, food was amazing x
What an amazing overall experience at the Ned and Ceccioni's...would definitely recommend
Busy place, my ravioli was undercooked by the sauce was lovely. For this price I would expect that would know how to cook pasta. The device wasn’t great either. Disappointing!
The noise from the live band preventsant chance of conversation. ..which is a shame.
Lovely food, the starters and dessert were excellent. We had pasta for the main course but the portion was on the small side, however they did provide a basket of bread. Service and atmosphere was great, live music is played so it can get a little loud at times.
This is a fantastic venue for meeting friends and having a really meal. It isn’t amazing value but it’s worth it for the service and ambience. On the night we went a band was playing- they were really good but I hadn’t realised quite how noisy it would be. Still a fabulous night out
really great quality italian food - pasta was divine, beef carpaccio and tuna tartare were really fab ; tiramisu wasn't the best i've had but it was lovely
can't wait to go back!
Its not the first time I’ve been to Cecconi’s and I am always disappointed with the food. This time I had the steak tartare and it was probably the worst steak tartare I’ve ever tried.. it had celery and a limey juice.. ??!
I visited for lunch with my Mother on a monday lunchtime. Clearly a hotspot for business meetings so we felt a little out of place. But the food was delicious and it was a real treat.
I have been to Cecconis several times, in the Mayfair branch and this was my first time at the Ned. The food was way below average, the focaccia in the bread basket was dry (not to say old), my minestrone arrived barely lukewarm, the chicken Paillard had no taste why so ever and very watery, my friends veal Milanese was thin dry and very oily from the deep frying - not at all what were used to. Too bad.
Exceptionally outstanding, only bit if you can get the music a bit low,so we can listen to each other while dinning !!!
Apart from the band being extremely noisy, the place, the food and the value for food were excellent.
Unfortunately, very disappointing, incredibly loud, Food price as expected for a 5 star hotel but the food wasn't anything to write home about. The meal felt very rushed, waiters constantly asking questions, they appeared to come at as from all directions, I also can't stand waiters pouring our wine, when i'm ready for a drink I'll pour it, standard practise in high class restaurants. Real shame as the building is fantastic.
Fantastic food and venue.
Service was really good up till 3.30pm then we was forgotten about. But overall very good.
Our first breakfast as an engaged couple was amazing.
I have eaten in several of the restaurants at the Ned this was not my favourite.
Went Fri eve, lively buzzy amophere with band playing in background so noise levels are high avoid if you want a quiet place. Had a few cocktails which were good. Tiramisu was very good. Overall pricey. Food was decent not amazing, good option for a overall buzzy restaurant.
The Ned is a beautiful old building and being in the old banking hall has the wow factor, However, because Cecconi's is one of many restaurants on the ground floor it does feel rather like a very upmarket shopping mall.
Waiter was rushing us throughout lunch - tried to collect starters before finished
Band was annoyingly loud
Whilst the food was fantastic, a live band was playing in the middle of the room making conversation all but impossible.
The music was so loud the waiter couldnt hear our order. The tables are on top of each other with not much space. The food was average and the bill didnt match the food!!
Very pleasant experience, food was good and the ambience excellent; quite noisy as there is a live band and dancing. Wines excellent, service good though they were very busy so not super speedy. Made us want to try out their other restaurants
We dined at Cecconis ‘Sunday Feast’ - the foos and service was fantastic and loved the live music!
Lovely food and atmosphere. The music was a bit too loud as we were struggling at some points to hear each other speak. Good service overall (would have been helpful if the menu had English translation to help us choose.)
Fantastic food and good service. Very tightly packed and slightly too loud.
Too many tables packed in -had trays carried over our heads and knocked by waiters - unintentionally . Staff were wonderful
The food was very good, excellent choice of wines too. The atmosphere is great considering the restaurant is within such a grand foyer, which it shares with other restaurants and bars. Very good service from the waiting staff too, attentive without being intrusive. On every occasion I’ve been the restaurant and the hotel as a whole has been just buzzing
Your can’t get to your table a moment before your booking time they won’t let you which is fair enough if the previous customers are still there. But because of the bar stalls round the bar you can’t get to the bar either! Food was good and there was a fabulous band on which I was facing but I couldn’t see them because the partitioning was too high. I won’t be going again. However I should say that I went on a Friday and feel it may be better mid week.
Great food and an amazing building. This was my second visit with the last being on a Monday evening - I don’t remember the music being so loud as it was on my second visit (Thursday). I would recommend as an experience and if you don’t mind having to shout across the table to be heard, then you may even go back.
Amazing atmosphere, interiors were stunning, absolutely delicious food & service!
I was really excited to visit The Ned. I brought my husband for his birthday and pre ordered a desert platter for His birthday to be brought out after our dinner. The staff forgot and just gave the bill. I was too embarrassed to ask for it so just paid and left. I did speak to the manager who did not seem bothered! The food was not as great as I had expected and very expensive for what we ordered. I was extremely disappointed and would not recommend.
