Went for Sunday lunch with a twist & really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, not too loud but not too quiet either. Food was great & good value - so nice to get away from the 'standards' - and the service was impeccable but also informal & friendly.

A treat which lifted our spirits (or maybe that was the delicious pisco sours?) but didn't cost us an arm & a leg!

I was a bit worried about the menu through lack of knowledge when I booked, but thought I’d trust the reviews and risk it, thank god I did.
Thanks to our waiter Ben, with his knowledge and enthusiasm we were put at ease and I really struggled to choose from 3 or 4 of the mains, Ben recommended the duck and it was a great choice, but apparently my husbands choice of the suckling pig was not to be beaten, you could feel and hear the appreciation of the food all around the room.
Our starters were also exquisite and bursting with so many flavours.
I had the chocolate mousse for dessert, which was to die for.
The Malbec was also gorgeous and so were the coffees.
An exceptional meal all round and we have recommended it to all the foodies we know, we’ll be back soon!

The food, service, environment and general feel of the restaurant were all great, even given the covid restrictions in place.

The menu is really exciting, and the staff know it well enough to guide you through things comfortably. The Tuna Ceviche starter was amazing!!

I wasn't very impressed with my dessert, but the team were eager to know why and offered a replacement in the form of the interesting beer they have which I'd been asking about. So they dealt with everything really well.

We will definitely be hoping to return soon, and would highly recommend it to others

I've been twice and this past time was even better! The food (especially the starters!) were outstanding and the service absolutely top notch. The only slight annoyance was that we were seated next to the bar and. there were a lot of drinks that required a blender. Apart from that though, it was excellent!

Great food and service. A little disappointed that my quail’s egg was just a regular egg. I think they hoped I wouldn’t notice. Apart from that everything else was great! Definitely recommend.

Tried their new Sunday lunch menu which was great ! The roast beef , lovely and pink in the middle was delightful and the pork belly moist and delicious. I found their version of the "yorkshire" pud not to my taste , but that`s just me. One hiccup was that we had ordered the Cauliflower cheese which they apparently forgot to add to our order and subsequently arrived when we were most of the way through our main !! That said it was delicious once it arrived. To their credit they deducted from the bill at the end which was good.

This place is special! What delicious food - expertly explained to my husband and me (complete novices in Peruvian cuisine). I would love to tell you what I ate but I honestly can't remember what any of it was called! All I know is it was ALL wonderful.

Very down-to-earth and somehow also very exotic - we really loved it. We were here for my husband's birthday and they made a real fuss of him. Great atmosphere - if you are looking for something different I would certainly recommend this place.

Went for a birthday meal at the early sitting. Good value with the Early Bird menu. Food beautifully presented and very tasty. One dessert was unavailable and the waiter and chef were kind enough to produce something similar.

A fabulous place in the heart of Brum. Superb food, well informed and friendly staff and a wonderful experience.

My first time here and what an enjoyable evening it was. COVID sercurity is taken very seriously and you will feel confident and safe here!

The dining room is warm and stylish. The music/ambient noise is not a problem. The decor is colourful without being over the top. Service is fabulous and the staff do a great job. We were seated near the door, which in bad weather can always be a bit risky but not here. Evrything was very comfortable.

The menu is not a long menu which is a good thing in my view. It is divided into two sections, small plates/starters and mains. The starters are all cold and include a lot of escabeche dishes — a sea bream escabeche was citrusy and sharp and everything you want here. A scallop and cocunet dish was also very good.

On a cold and wet night we both went for meat mains. The menu is divided into three fish mains, three meat dishes and three vegetable dishes — we ate a pork main and a beef main. Vegetarians will be fine but vegans should check — there is the use here of a lotof tiger milk, which is a maridade/sauce comprised of fish stock and aromatics.

The food is delicious and somewhat different (nice in this ever bland world of Med Cooking). Chili and citrus are the oprevailing themes (which my favourite combination) and the food is very puchy. The chili is prominent if no blow your head off hot but if you have a companion that doesn't like it this might not be hte place for you. But I guess most Brummies will love the heat combinations!

The cocktails are good and the small wine list seems to have been put together by somebody who knows what they are doing. We had a bottle of Spanish Moscatell a red which was stunning (apparentlyit was new on the list and we were the first people to order it).

This is what you want in a neighbourhood restaurant. It is similarly priced to other decnet offerings nearby but does give something a little different. It felt like a very good evening out.

I visit the restaurant with my husband and our daughter, and we had a fantastic time. The food was excellent, we had for started tuna ceviche, and salmon tiraditos both were delicious, but tuna is a must-have accompanied by a bottle of vinoverde white. As a main, we had the duck which was very tender and the trout and was a fantastic choice. We finish with churros to share and amaretto disarono. Thank you very much for an outstanding service, the staff was very knowledgeable and efficient and a lovely time in your restaurant. We will be returning

Food was AMAZING! If ever you want have a slice of Peru - this is your go to. The colours, the taste, the pisco sours - everything was just making me reminisce. Great for a range of meats, very wholesome filling food. Two vegetarian options on the menu, it would be great to have a third if possible. Drinks menu was fantastic - little pricey but for the cocktails, I’d expect that. And the chef, a very handsome man in his glass box overlooking the restaurant - it was a pleasure to dine here! I would love for it to open for morning South American coffees and plantain! Coco leaves would be a great side ;-)

The menu was really well explained. There were ingredients/flavours we weren’t familiar with but anything we asked about was explained with confidence.

I was told to look out for the spicy yellow peppers on my pork, but I didn’t get a single bit of heat. I can handle spice, but I was warned that these peppers were hot, so unfortunately I believe these were missing from my dish.

Quite pricey. We had two starters, two mains, once dessert and a bottle of wine (one of the cheaper ones) and it was £95. Not extortionate prices, but I never have a 3rd course and was still hungry so had one on this occasion. This is why I’ve scored a bit lower for value.

Lovely food and service but definitely a treat.

We visited Chakana again during their 1st anniversary and we chose to have their special six-courses special menu for the celebration. The menu offered a great selection of Peruvian cuisine with each plates being smaller than theirs original size. Nonetheless, the food was portioned very well and we enjoyed each dish very much. It was definitely a great value for money.

We were lucky enough to have booked a table in the 1st birthday. 6 course menu that was exquisite. The sea bream and suckling pig were both the stars of the show for us. Very safe, lots of space between tables but still maintaining a vibrant atmosphere. Wonderful friendly and attentive staff.

I'd unknowingly booked in on the weekend of Chakana's first birthday celebrations; we were treated to an excellent six-course tasting menu, with a complimenary drink

I had let the restaurant know of my dietary requirements and they were happy to accommodate me.

The service was superb, the food varied and delicious, and the evening fantastic.
