Welcoming staff and beautiful food almost too pretty to eat
The food was amazing! The flavours, presentation and service was excellent. I only wish we had found out about this restaurant sooner! You would be hard pushed to find a better place to eat in and around Birmingham.
Delicious and interesting food. Great service and a really pleasant atmosphere.
Great looking and tasting food, nice ambience and great service
Very well presented plate and cooked properly. The place is Clean with a nice ambiance and interior. The waiter was brilliant he explained everything precisely. The Sunday lunch is Perfect for celiacs. We will definitely return to try the other menus.
With a Peruvian in our group we judge her experience as gospel...and she is always very happy with the food, experience and service. A great resturanant
Went for the tasting menu, food is excellent, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, creating a great experience. Most likely the best value tasting menu in Birmingham
Outstanding food, outstanding options and outstanding service.
Excellent service. Great menu for both food and drinks. Good ambiance.
Really nice food and well presented. Great service. Thoroughly recommend.
Imaginative menu. Food colourful, tasty and delicious. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Ambience professionally relaxed. All in all an excellent dining experience.
Chakana came up to scratch once again!
Great, interesting and colourful food, and charming service.
As an added bonus, we didn't know that our table for 6 was to be seated in the private room - the vault of the Lloyds Bank that occupied the premises in the past! Very interesting, as many of the original features have been preserved.
Amazing food and service: delicious.
Quite bright but noisy so you might struggle if hearing impaired.
I will be going back.
Amazing flavours, beautifully presented by attentive, personable and professional staff. Definitely my favourite restaurant in Birmingham.
Really interesting and tasty food, friendly and welcoming staff and nice informal atmosphere, will be back again
Really really really REALLY good food!! Can't recommend enough the tasting menu. Staff are extremely attentive and nice. Overall awesome experience!
Stylish restaurant and chance to discover exciting Peruvian food. Dishes were visually stunning with delicious combinations of flavours.
Although we didn’t go for cocktails as the wine list was excellent- some fabulous looking ones were being mixed. An interesting night out.
Beautifully presented food. Staff attentive and knowledgeable. I’d definitely recommend for a special occasion or just a time to spend with family or friends.
Lovely restaurant with a distinct menu and served as a relaxed pace. Truly remarkable & well worth repeating
Amazing food, we really enjoyed it. Great and friendly service. We will be coming back for sure.
Chakanas never disappoints - we always have a wonderful time and look forward to the next visit
Amazing scope of tastes that made our eyes pop. We’ve been before and each time it is such a taste awakening. The Salmon Tiradito was the show stopper this time.
Service was excellent.
First time I’ve eaten in since early 2020, and it continued to fulfil the high expectations it set. Food is truly different, really well presented and really tasty. Portion sizes are really generous, which definitely doesn’t detract from the quality. Staff were really helpful with the food and cocktail choices.
Such a lovely surprise of a restaurant. Fantastic food full of flavour, beautifully presented and so delicious.
Super friendly service and took time to explain the dishes, styles and flavour profiles.
Decor is subtle but classy, lively ambience but not loud…just enough to improve the experience.
Lastly the cocktails….oh man yes! Amazing!
We’ll be back and in greater numbers!
Really nice atmosphere and without the pretentiousness of other places
Great food great service great atmosphere
First class meal and great to have the taster for future visits
Chakana are doing incredible things and staking their claim as one of the country’s gems, not just Birmingham’s. The food is outstanding, and every course maintains the same exceptional standards. Service is passionate, personable, helpful, and attentive. Chakana is an absolute must visit.
Warm and friendly service. Comfortable and spacious table for our group of 6. Food very good and enjoyed by all - if we had any feedback it would be that we found dishes slightly too salty, but it will not stop us returning.
We had a superb meal, lovely friendly service , beautifully prepared tasty food accompanied by cold draught beer. Excellent , highly recommended.
Father’s Day meal- the food was fantastic. Lovely knowledgeable servers. Portions are quite large and great value for money.
Service impeccable, tasty menu a little salty with similar tasting dishes
An AMAZING experience…….perfect ambience, service of the highest standards and food to die for….every taste bud was tingling with delight…an AWESOME, in fact a magical mystery tour of PERUVIAN food…..the colours were mesmerising and the TASTE sensational ……..thank you CHAKANA….cannot wait to return…….
This restaurant is a real hidden gem. Open for only 2years it has been hit by the pandemic but is now clearly up and running again. Owned by Robert Ortiz, the Michelin starred Peruvian chef, of Lima in London, and a local Brummie it offers intriguing and elegant Peruvian cuisine, in a relaxed environment with friendly but discreet service. Our choices of both cocktails and starters had delicate background heat from a Peruvian mix called Tiger's Milk which was flavoursome and delicate in a way that sharpened the palate to new flavours from other Peruvian ingredients. Brilliant. Portions were of a good size so three courses was just right. But you must try the beef carpaccio snack - so different. Give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.
Great place, Peruvian atmosphere, food is amazing
Good food very pleasant servers.
Had the tasting menu. There was a 20-30 min delay between the two main course. Nobody explained why just said sorry for the delay.
Probably eat again but not in a hurry.
Lovely food, especially the crab ceviche top of the picture great service and ambience, will definitely return.
Great staff always so friendly
The service was personal and very caring. Great food and drink at a reasonable price.
A delightful experience on a hot Sunday afternoon. We had excellent Sunday roasts with an Andean twist (and very British Yorkshire puds!) but the highlights were the starters and desserts, which really showcase the unfamiliar flavours of Peruvian and Japanese ingredients.
Throw in a friendly crew who clearly believe in what they’re offering, and a quirky setting that makes a feature of the old bank strongroom, and you have a thoroughly likeable package and a wholehearted recommendation.
