Delicious food but I had to literally plead the hotel staff doe the corner seat . and I was given the menu card till I asked.
Food reasonable but let down by inconsistent (and occasionally very poor) service. Expect more at these prices
Good variety of curries on top of the more traditional dishes. Lovely location and good service.
Disappointing. No spicey pickles served with poppodoms. None available was the response... Bhel Pooris very dry and not spicey. Nan bread only luke warm. Some of the vegetable dishes looked made from frozen not fresh veg.
Service was sullen.
Restaurant had few customers....unsurprising really.....
This was my second visit and I’ll definitely be back again. The food was outstanding and the location on the river is fantastic.
We visited on a Saturday night and had an excellent meal. We enjoyed Lamb Rogan Josh, Chicken Biryani, Goan Prawn curry, Dal, Aubergine and Chilli cheese toast and all the dishes were full of flavour and delicious. It was nice to see a menu with many different dishes and chilli cheese toast street food is not something we have seen before but very nice. Service was excellent and we shall be going back!
A bit of a revelation actually - great food and more-or-less devoid of the standard "curry house" fare.
Excellent flavours and variety with what I can only guess is a more authentic Indian style. It comes at a price though - it's not your usual £7.95 chicken korma kind of place, but you don't regret/resent the extra expense because of the delicious food they serve. Well worth a visit.
Lovely food and atmosphere. Great addition to Kingston.
Tasty food and great service
Went for birthday celebration..food came very quickly (4-5 mins) wine good but not cheap for albarino and lamb excellent but fish curry poor..service was OK ..then waitress accidently spilled wine and water all over my wife.. apologetic but as she was a trainees seemed overawed..we ended up cleaning the table ourselves..one waitress was excellent with customer service and apologised profusely..got another glass but then owner just came up said sorry mistakes happen and without any sincerity offered us drinks but then no one came and its embarrassing toask..but service minded waitress helped out.no offering of anything to make up for the fact we had to take a cab home ..paid a lot of money for a very bad experience £160 for 1 course (4 people and wine)..in contract has gone to cote down the road and when the chicken wasnt cooked they gave us bottle of wine and took all the food off the bill..they will survive and prosper as we will viit again and again..this restaurant wont get our money again..
Visited on Saturday for the first time with friends. Loved the nice friendly welcome at the door and were swiftly shown to our table. We didn't want to be rushed so ordered drinks, starters and then mains. All food was excellent, hot and well presented. The service started off brilliantly but became a bit fragmented at the end of the evening. We will definitely re-visit.
We had a fantastic experience here.
Smiley staff, professional service and amazing food even for the picky eater.
Some of the street foods and starters are fantastic Indian fusion foods and absolutely delicious.
The curries are also very good, though for me, not quite the standard of the amazing starters etc.
Very nice staff and good service. Lovely view out on to the river. Highly recommended.
Decent starters but very ordinary mains. Not worth the prices
Lovely food. The service was excellent, the waitress was super patient with our children. Thank you!
Really like this place, the food can be good but the prices are so high for what you get, there is little value for money. Staff are really friendly which is nice but service is a little slow - we ask for drinks and wait ages to get them, also they come and pour water instead of leaving you with a jug - fine but not when you have to wait ages for it to be topped up. We ordered the cassava dish which was really bad, the cassava was full of water and really hard. The 'nimbu' drink was pretty bland for the price - cant help but feel disappointed. Really want to love it and want it to do well but think they need to look at their prices, things are quite inconsistent.
Great customer service, authentic food. Friendly staff.
Very friendly staff and food that is a cut a above your usual Indian restaurant. An interesting menu (wild mushroom naan and tandoori scallops for example) and a nice location next to the river by Kingston Bridge.
Beautiful food, all so nice in a lovely setting. Staff very attentive and friendly.
My only criticisms are, the gulab jamun is so expensive for what it is (one tiny jamun with a tiny bit of ice-cream for £6 seems so so overpriced) and asking for and then getting the bill takes forever - we waited at least 25 mins and in that time had to ask twice. First world problems I know but that let them down. Otherwise lovely and would totally recommend.
Poor quality food, pav bhaji was smelly - maybe the raw onions were cut early morning or something, Dal was also not fresh seemed a day or two old! Chicken was stringy!
Fish fingers were alright, lamb kebabs were worse than Tesco’s. naan bread was undercooked and doughy at places, will not come back!
Great riverside restaurant serving good food well priced wine in a very friendly atmosphere. Ideal outdoor seating if the weather's good. Well worth a visit.
Popadoms were basically a selection of Dorito shaped popadom offcuts with some other strange looking Chinese crack things arrived in a small pot - not a good start. The korma really not creamy enough and the chicken in the railway curry was a bit scraggy. Would not recommend
Lovely atmosphere and good quality, interesting and tasty food. Service a little ad hoc but friendly and attentive. The tables by the door are impacted by it opening and closing which is a little painful but you get used to it after a while. Value for money is average with most main courses in the region of £12 before sides which makes it more of a destination/event experience rather than casual dinning. We will go back.
Good quality food, genuine service, and a nice ambiance. Upscale Indian cuisine; not the typical high street curry house fare.
A lovely restaurant in a good position on the river. Looked very pretty as we entered with an abundance of fairy lights outside. Staff were friendly and helpful and gave advice on food choices. Not your usual run of the mill Indian menu, but amazing flavours and beautifully presented. Would definitely return and recommend.
Very friendly and helpful attentive but not intrusive. Super food. Reasonably priced.
The manager was a bit rude. I do not want to write many details but he way he spoke loud and not polite. We were 4 people in the table and we all did not like his behaviour.
I will not go there again because of the manager.
Enjoyed a delicious meal at Chakra. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and quick. Only downside was that it was very drafty next to the windows as it was a cold evening but can imagine it would be lovely on a warmer day overlooking the river.
Nice - good food and good service but we were given a set menu only as it was Valentine's Day but would have liked the opportunity of actually getting to choose which was not even an option.
As always the food was of an excellent quality and the service outstanding. Sunil and his team are excellent at making you feel at home.
Came here to celebrate our engagement. Food and service are mostly excellent. Starters were avocado balls, delicious and Samosa which was a surprise and not a great one as was served cold and covered in layers of sweet sauces. Main course curries were authentic and delicious, lamb was incredibly tender. For dessert had galub jamam but it tasted quite fatty.
Ordered an old fashioned which was very weak and had a lot of orange or citrus in it, so disappointing.
Table we sat at got cold as right in the path of the opening door, covering curtain should probably have been pulled to help prevent this.
A group of patrons (older asian men) came in and spent most of their meal staring daggers at my partner (young, black female) which made her very uncomfortable. We believe the staff could see this but did nothing.
Price-wise, fairly expected based on how much we ordered.
Lovely evening had by all. Incredibly friendly staff and we had a great chat with the manager who made us feel very welcome.
The food was outstanding. Great variety on the menu and not just the usual menu you get in most places.
Have been here a few times and have been impressed with the food each time. I would especially recommend the samosa starter - it is delicious. Good service and staff are very friendly.
We really enjoyed the food. There was issues with our food not coming out together on staters and mains which was disappointing. We had to ask repeatedly for a bottle of wine which never seemed to get brought over.
When cutting into a shared starter I noticed that it had a bit of it wasn’t cooked properly. We told the waiter nicely and asked for it to be taken away. We also asked to change one of the mains from chicken to lamb to reduce risk of same happening again. The older gentleman came twice to our table about it - the second time he returned to say he had looked at the chicken and “no offence but you are wrong” . We are both now incredibly ill, the cramping started before we even left the restaurant ....I won’t go into the rest of the detail!!!!!! Pleases let them know
They cancelled the booking as they said they had booked out the whole place but had not bothered to update the OpenTable booking system.Anyway went to Monty's and had a wonderful meal.
fab food but a little pricey so would only use for special occasions, a shame really because I would like to use it on a regular basis.
Very slow service
Tasty food but a bit pricey though. Moderate sized portions.
Chakra is really food for the soul. Textures and flavours combine magically and you just cannot get enough.
