Time wasn’t enough
Amazing ! The views and food was great !
We didn’t eat - just had drinks. The staff were lovely and the views are great!
Obviously it is very expensive but you get what you pay for
Something to tick off the bucket list! Delicious cocktails, great ambiance, lovely waiters. Pricey, but so worth it for a special occasion. I will definitely be going back!
Our feedback is on the management and policies of the Sky Lounge rather than any individuals - our service was polite and friendly, great piano player, and the views fab. But we hope the recommendations suggested are taken up so that everyone can enjoy it fully and not have their experience spoilt.
When we made the reservation we requested a window table, given that we were celebrating a special occasion. While we knew this may not be possible, on arrival we were told we would be able to get a window table if we waited 10mins or so, which was fine with us. However, a short while afterwards we were taken downstairs to the lounge and seated at a non-window table without any explanation. We asked why and were told that it would now be a very long wait for a window table. However, shortly after being seated (less than ten mins) two window tables became available and other guests who had arrived after us were seated on those. Later more window tables became free and when we asked whether we could move to either of them we were told that it was against the policy of the bar to move customers between tables. This is despite the fact that tables are being fully sanitised in between customers (and other customers were at the same time happily posing by empty table windows without masks). Final straw of the experience.. After we were there for an hour, we were reminded that we only had 30 minutes left on our table, despite the fact that several other tables (including some by the window) were empty by then and no other guests seemed to be arriving. In any case, we were disappointed at how we had been treated and so left after one drink and went on to a fab venue for the rest of the evening. We had planned to share a bottle, so it was ultimately the bar which lost out! We won’t be going back, but hope other guests are treated better in future, with better communication upfront, and more effort made to accommodate their requests so they can fully enjoy it.
Fabulous views & great service. Would recommend for an afternoon drink.
A special place and atmosphere
I will definetly come back
The drinks and food were surprisingly average given past experiences with the Shangri La’s quality in other cities. The staff was friendly and helpful but the bar was a bit slow. Extremely overpriced given the lack of quality but I assume you are paying for the view.
I’ve stayed and eaten here a few times but this time was a complete disappointment, I’d booked the sky brunch for me and my wife as a treat, I was told by their staff via email a few days before that there would definitely be halal options available and I wouldn’t need to pre-order as they always have chicken and lamb available. When we got there we were taken to a lovely a lovely window seat but when the waiter came over he immediately informed us that no halal options were available for us and that we could only have the vegetarian options. I said this wasn’t acceptable to us but he checked to see if we could have dinner upstairs at the ting restaurant where halal options were available. Luckily they did have space for us but the whole experience was a let as we ended up being seated away from the window so couldn’t appreciate the view while we ate. I’m sure they could have left us seated where we were and had the halal options bought to us. A high end establishment like this should not be getting small things like this wrong. It was a complete let down.
I had the best experience at the Sky Lounge.. everything was so beautiful the views, the staff and experience was impeccable!
From start to finish excellent
Cavy wait to come back
Great views, ambience, live pianist for drinks and light nibbles!
We had a comfortable table by the window will definitely be back.
Never had a bad experience at the Shard. Staff were friendly and attentive. Prices are a little more than standard London rates but worth it. Unfortunately they were very busy so we had to leave at the end of the booking instead of moving to the bar.
It was a lovely evening for my birthday!!
Nice atmosphere, good place to chill on your special day
Beautiful place - highly recommend. However the service could have been a little faster waited a while for drinks to come out
Its took so long to get our drinks , everything was ok , only takes so long to get drinks.
A great view and nice drinks but limited food options. Service was excellent!
Was closed by the time we arrived, even after booking and calling ahead
I booked an anniversary dinning at Sky Lounge at Shangri -La on Tuesday 5th Dec 2017 using the opentable website but was told that the restaurant was closed to public due to an event that evening even though system still allowed booking. This ruined my evening
The whole experience was very cold, we were treated as an inconvenience, our reservation was lost, place was half full and they still made us wait at the most uncomfortable bar ever, staff was rude and not very friendly at all. If you want blow £100 on 6 drinks and feel like an a-hole - this is your place....
We booked a table for the 7th of November,I come with my girlfriend and I spoke with the receptionist, she told me that the restaurant was cole, very disappointed!!!
Perfect in every way
Wonderful view. Great ambience. Lovely (snacky) food.
The service was utterly charming. We really appreciated the free dessert for OH's significant birthday.
Will definitely return.
The lounge we booled was closed so we got "upgraded" to the gong bar. The view was amazing. Service was very good. Will come back.
What a disappointment, despite booking a table 3 weeks beforehand we were kept waiting for a table for over an hour. The service was almost non existent, it was so bad I cancelled my dinner reservation upstairs in Ting and went to Jamies Italian instead where we had a fantastic meal and great service at a fraction of the price.
Spectacular views, but not much more. This was our first visit to the Shard and looking at the online pictures we expected something spectacular. Sadly it was a fantastic let down. There is no ambience in this 'bar', in fact it feels like the coffee table break out area for the private meeting/dining rooms located adjacent to the seated area.
The service was slow, bar prices super inflated and a very moderate selection of food snacks. At £ 13 for a Gin and Tonic, one expected it to look more than something you might be served in a chain retail bar.
I have heard other good reports from some of the other Shard dining areas, but sadly this is not one. Recommended only for the view and a quick pass through experience.
Aweful service and Slow Arrangements. We were not welcome and they send us at 12 pm home...
Booked myself and 2 friends visiting me a late table at Sky Lounge to have a nightcap after dinner with a beautiful view. Bar was very quiet and the perfect calm end to a hectic day. Thank you.
Great view from the 31st floor, no booking fee required, lovely views. Could do with some light background music. Lovely staff & wine selection. Surprised us with a plate of sweet treats after we checked-in as my boyfriends birthday. Lovely touch.
I booked a table here to take some friends out for the evening. Was so embarrassed. It's very much an afterthought of a space - outside conference centre with a few temporary plastic bar stools and tables. There was no table reserved - we had to pull chairs about ourselves. The drinks were so expensive and the service certainly didn't make up for it. Food was also expensive and very limited, even bar snacks. Staff had no idea about the menu or even the basics of serving drinks. Absolutely dreadful. I rarely complain about anything but this was terrible. Go somewhere else with a decent view - there are plenty of alternatives now.
Disappointed that this came up on Top Table as a place to eat a meal!
We were offered canapés.... a meal this is not!
We had an amazing evening, with an absolute amazing view of the central london , everything went as planned and service was on point
Great place, amazing view, good service! Intimate setting
I booked in advance to visit the Sky Lounge as a special treat for a very important client. Unfortunately the venue was over-booked as they had decided to give over the Sky Lounge to a private party Christmas booking!! No-one thought to call me to let me know and so it was very embarrassing when my guest arrived, all excited, to find out we couldn't go to the Sky Lounge and sit by the lovely Christmas tree as planned. After much messing about, we were given a very awkward table on the floor above which completely spoilt the evening - I had to sit next to the client on a small sofa around a makeshift table at the edge of the restaurant!! Dreadful...
Through Opentable I'd reserved a table but they didn't have one when I arrived. They then said that we would have to order immediately as the kitchen would be imminently closing (this was the the time that I had booked the table for so it was as well that we arrived early). The bill was fairly eye watering. My companion was utterly delightful and so was the view. We went up to the cocktail bar on the 52nd floor afterwards, the service there was impeccable.
Could be nicer and more comfortable. Does look like a gemporary solution.
An impressive (though expensive) selection of champagnes - I ordered the Louis Roederer 2008 and the bartender brought me an extra taste of the non-vintage version to compare (confirming I'd made the right choice!)
A decent selection of food too, which I believe is the lounge menu from the Ting restaurant on the floor above - a mix of Asian, Middle Eastern and European dishes. There's a short bar menu and they also allowed us to order from the full lounge menu. The lobster with truffle mayonnaise was OK (nothing special) but the Nyonya 5 Spice Lobak (kind of an Asian take on the sausage roll) was delicious.
They've only just started taking reservations, meaning you can probably just show up - even if you're not a hotel guest. But I imagine it will fill up a little as more people hear about it.
But this place is all about the view, with spectacular views over the Thames in 3 directions. You can sit with your champagne or coffee and just gaze out the window for an hour without running out of things to look at. It's much less crowded than (though not quite as high up as) the viewing platform and a glass of champagne costs less than a ticket for that.
