Wonderful food. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very accommodating and lovely to speak Andrew himself when he came to the table. Will most definitely return.
Fantastic experience, met the chef in person. The staff were welcoming and engaging.
Would certainly recommend.
Exceptional food and hope to hear dine here again when it re opens.
Best lobster dish ever !!!
We had a fabulous dinner and can’t wait to be back
Lovely meal food was superb. Staff did their very best in the current circumstances to be friendly and helpful
Warm welcome on a very blustery night. Food was fabulous, service was unobtrusive- just right. Thank you for making our 34th wedding anniversary dinner one to remember
A fantastic dining experience and highly recommended
Excellent service, from the welcome to the farewell, staff were friendly, professional and simply first class.
We chose two vegetarian 4 course meals, which were imaginative and delicious.
Andrew Durham even came out to speak to us at the end.
Lovely evening, would recommend without a doubt.
An excellent meal. Good food nd friendly service in pleasant surroundings.
Seated at a lovely table by the window overlooking the beach on a sunny early evening, service was professional and very friendly from the start. Each of the courses in the 8-course menu came with fabulous presentation and each was amazing, with an inventive melange of flavours and textures, with inspiration taken from around the world. Would highly recommend it and will definitely visit next time we're in Cornwall.
Fabulous food and service. We had the 4 course menu plus cheese board and were seated with a fantastic view of Porth Beach and were able to watch the sun setting during the course of the meal. The food was delicious, especially the duck which was the best I’ve ever eaten. We felt so relaxed and had such a wonderful evening that we stayed on in the bar after the meal for a nightcap.
Great food, spectacular views, attentive & friendly team!
Food was good and service excellent , did not see the chef at all however. The manager came to collect the payment at the table and had a tip automatically adding to the bill on the Card machine. We felt under pressure in front of all the other guests. I normally pay my tips in cash. But as she stormed off when we declined the tip. I decided not to pay the cash tip.
Exceptional meal from start to finish rarely have we been so quiet eating a meal as we tried to savour every morsel
The meal was both pleasing to the eye and palette. I can’t remember enjoying a meal as much, sheer perfection
Very well presented lovely food in a lovely atmosphere with a view to die for.
Hot oyster, venison sausage roll, cod with chowder, cornish cheeses and pirates loot.
It was all great and a picture on the plate. Lovely knowledgeable staff and a thoroughly relaxing experience thank you!
Amazing food. Tasting menu very interesting and clever. A number of the courses must have involved a lot of work, such as the mussel with edible shell and the smuggler's loot petit fours. View beautiful, staff welcoming and very helpful. Wonderful for a special occasion.
We booked to stay at the hotel and decided to eat in the restaurant on our first night having travelled that day.
We were very pleased by the quality of the meal and the fantastic service. Would highly recommend!
Had a wonderful evening celebrating our Wedding Anniversary. Staff friendly and attentive, food amazing, a great dining experience.
Fantastic setting, service and food. Very pleasurable experience.
Really enjoyed our dinner. The food was outstanding, superbly prepared and presented. Will definitely go back next time we're in Cornwall.
One area for improvement is the wine list. Could do with more wines by the glass as people these days are quite particular about which wines they like with each course.
Great food, lovely decor, friendly staff - great view too
Everything was wonderful! Beautifully cooked food served by friendly staff in a cool location
Excellent front door service. Very friendly and accommodating to our specific requests. A little disappointed at the price that an amuse bouche and bread was considered as individual courses. The food was fantastic, and very good wine selection.
A wonderful experience from start to finish. Staff were friendly, food amazing and a lovely setting. Looking forward to going back in the not too distant future. Highly recommend.
Had the 4 course tasting menu which was delicious. The suggested wine was also great and not too expensive.
Got the 8 course tasting meal, however the portion sizing was much too large, making it hard to enjoy the meal. The lobster and duck courses were the sizes of normal main meals. Also, for the price would expect better execution of the food. For example the shell on the mussel starter was too thick, and the lobster tasted fishy. The duck was tough, and the final chocolate course was not very exciting This could be excused at a lower price, but for almost 200£ for 2 people with drinks, is harder to accept.
Portions were small but the quality of the food and plating were outstanding.
Amazing food in wonderful setting and great hospitality
thank you
This is a really lovely restaurant. It's small in terms of the number of tables but with plenty of space between them to feel comfortable. The food was excellent and although expensive, felt good value for money. Would highly recommend the crab tortellini and the beef sirloin.
Unbelievably good food from Andrew (We had 6 course meal with flight wines). Thankyou to all the staff who were very pleasant, informative and professional. They made the end of our holiday very special. We will definitely be back!
Paddy & Judith Adams
We chose a 6 course menu just for the beef option, which was not available on the 4 course menu. The two additional items that we got on the menu for the additional £15 were not that interesting: a single cider-pickled muscle on an edible but rather cardboard-like shell and a very sugary set of petitfours all containing rum (which I don't like, so it would have been good to know in advance what the mysterious "smugglers loot" consisted off). The waiter even forgot to bring us the petit fours with our coffees, and we had to ask her for it but by then we had finished our coffee.
Anyway, regardless of this, the other dishes were extremely tasty, original and very well presented, so I would still recommend the place.
food was fantastic, every dish was carefully crafted and really blew our minds, amazing experience! still can't forget how the lobster tasted, insanely fresh. my partner and i both took the 8 course menu and we were too full by course 6 and couldnt finish the dessert, they allowed us both to takeaway the desserts. the staff were very friendly and efficient, the view out the restaurant was amazing too. would definitely be back again but perhaps a 6 course meal next time. they also let us pair our wine with the food, and recommended us what pairings to go with. absolutely lovely service and wine list. rating 11/10!
Nice tasting menu, but not outstanding...
Trying too hard to be ‘Michelin starred’ but ultimately not having the elements and quality to back it up. Expensive.
We had such a wonderful meal here. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and every bit of the food was divine. We had the 6 course taster and cheese. The lobster curry was a particular hit. We will definitely be visiting again! My only suggestion would be to extend the wine list a little more.
The lobster dish was outstanding but enjoyed the entire 6 course menu
the food was delicious and the portions were massive. The food complemented the setting by the beach perfectly. We didn't expect such an excellent dining experience from such a small (but lovely) hotel we felt very lucky.
Outstandingly welcoming and nice hosts. Great food and wine. Visiting was a real pleasure. We are definitely coming back! Thank you very much
Great service and great food by a fantastic chef. Thank you for a great evening!
Fabulous evening, we went for dinner, 2 adults and our daughter who is 10. We ordered the 6 course taster menu plus the cheese board.. Every course was amazing, exactly how I would expect a taster menu to be, the quality was as good as in a Michelin star restaurant, small plates with beautiful food, that taste sublime. My personal highlight was the Beef Main with bone marrow croquettes, so well balanced, every mouthful was bliss, our daughter had the duck main and what Andrew managed to do with the lentils is just genius, the duck flavour through was so intense.
Our dessert was vegan chocolate heaven, and the cheese board was generous and lots of variety!
The restaurant is at the Porth Beach hotel, which is cute and a bit quirky, the decor is great, I cannot wait to go back on our next trip to Cornwall.
We were lucky enough to meet the chef after our meal, seems such a lovely warm guy, really really talented!
I have to mention the overall service, our waitress was brilliant, attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and really made us feel welcome. I will be recommending this restaurant to everyone I can!
