The Chequers Inn, which is owned and run by the Holmes family, is a traditional rural pub situated in the heart of the Isle of Wight within the beautiful countryside. Our pub is the perfect place to eat, sleep and drink on the Isle of Wight, and also perfect for just stopping by for a pint of traditional local ale.

Our kitchen's aim is to provide fantastic fresh tasty food created with as much local produce as possible, with an elegant and relaxed atmosphere.

Had a large Sunday roast. It was nice with a reasonable portion of meat, but that's as far as the Chequers goes. We had booked in advance but were given a table inbetween the busy entrance and the toilet on the pub side, even though there were tables free at the other end where the restaurant and carvery was. It was busy, noisy, draughty and dogs were allowed in. This was not the environment and atmosphere you would expect to be eating a Sunday roast in. The staff were not friendly, especially the host and the carver, who were neither welcoming nor appreciative of our custom. They were warmer towards their regulars. We will certainly not be returning.

Fantastic place, lovely decor and very friendly and helpful staff. The food was great, I had the carvery and it was delicious, my wife had Sweet potato and chick pea lasagna, which she said was also delicious. The portion sizes are VERY generous! A lovely place to have a meal or just a cheeky beverage. Highly recommend a visit

Our visit was exceptional. The food was superb, the choice of non-alcoholic beer for the driver, superb. The staff were warm, welcoming and made for a great experience. Will 100% return

Lovely food, but the beef could have done with a bit more cooking, it was too red and bloody. Other than that very good

On holiday here on the Isle of Wight and we were looking for a pub that had a Sunday Carvery. Google offered us this one, which we booked on line. Easy to find and park. Characterful pub with more modern, yet sympathetic decor. Friendly, polite, helpful and professional staff. Good choice of drinks. Pub split into different areas for families and adults which is a fabulous idea. Ingenious lamps on the tables made from Mermaid gin bottles and a battery light. Cute and worked really well for ambience. We had the carvery, which was probably one of the best I've ever eaten!! The beef was a delightful pink and very succulent. Roast and New potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, home made stuffing, swede mash, carrots, green beans, sliced courgettes, red cabbage and cauliflower & brocoli cheese. Usually when I have a carvery, I think that one or more items let's it down, but not here. Every thing was cooked, seasoned and presented to perfection. I noticed that this pub prides itself for using locally sourced ingredients. A map on the wall shows where on the island they all come from. Just fantastic!!! I can't praise them enough!!! Thank you Chequers Inn. We will return soon!!!

We had a lovely family lunch today. We all enjoyed a delicious lunch. The staff were helpful and attentive. We definitely recommend The Chequers to anyone.

Went for Sunday roast No Yorkshire Pudding run out of cauliflower cheese the quality of the meat was excellent but again just because they say the oven had a problem there was NO Yorkshire Pudding

Hi Mark, thank you for leaving us this review, we apologize for not having Yorkshire puddings on this occasion however we encountered a problem with the oven so we were unable to make more but are sorry for the inconvenience.
