Great food and outstanding service
Food was excellent. Service was attentive. Very reasonable. Will definitely go back.
The frying prawn from starter menu is very delicious
Good experience in this excellent Indian restaurant. Arif who served us was helpful and kind. We recommend!
The staff were friendly and helpful guiding me through the menu as I am used to Northern Indian cuisine and not southern. The food was excellent and we did not have to wait long for it to arrive.
Lovely food and wasn’t that busy. Staff were great as well. However not sure why would they charge 12.5% service charge for a small family. That’s the only thing I didn’t like.
Food was lovely, great variation to a standard indian
We ate here last Saturday. It was busy so booking would be recommended. The staff were friendly and professional. The food was first rate, a lot of their own recipes (we tried two of these dishes and were very impressed with the depth of flavour and quality of ingredients) as well as the usual fare. It was reasonable value and I look forward to returning their next time we are in the area. I would heartily recommend Chettinad to anyone.
Really very nice. Interesting menu, nicely prepared fresh food and attentive staff.
Definitely worth a visit.
Excellent food. Been before and wanted to return. Never been to south India but food seems really authentic.
Great food highly recommend
Friendly staff and a great atmosphere combined with well cooked Indian food. No complaints at all.
This is a great genuine South Indian restaurant w great selection of dishes, very friendly service and informal and relaxed atmosphere. I am sure we'll come again.
The food and service were average. Overall, the restaurant visit was satisfying but not impressive enough for special occasions.
Excellent restaurant for our group of vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Lots of choice for both. Loved the prawn and lamb curries.
Good food, really lovely. Tasty and enjoyable and will return soon
The previous time we ate there we thought overall that the food was better. Perhaps we ordered dishes that were too alike - but it was not easy to tell the difference between the chicken and lamb dishes by taste, or look! However, the starter platter was superb, and the service very gracious.
This was my first visit and I was impressed. Great food, fresh and authentic. Our evening was marred by a large, very noisy table next to us but this is obviously not the restaurant’s fault in any way. The dosa and vegetarian dishes were especially good and everything was good value, I’ll definitely be back...
The waiter could have smiled a little bit more seemed upset we'd arrived. Once we'd sat down he was only to happy to explain what was on the menu as it was very different to any other menu I'd come across. Food and service was very good
Great spot, but the service suffers from being so popular! They were able to accommodate three groups greater than 6 people, but that drove the noise level right up. Recommend the restaurant for the food, but the service and noise are definitely detractors.
Very nice food with an enchanting service
A flavour trip of senses
Seafood thali was delicious! I will definitely be back.
Excellent flavours, subtle spices. Enjoyed every dish we ordered.
Fantastic authentic food. Great service. Love to go again.
Decent food at a standard central London price. Service can be poor at times.
It was very nice and pleasant moment . The food and the waiters were good.
Casual, comfortable and very busy. I went for the dosasa which were very good and can be hard to find. The food is spicy but not overly. I will recommend the restaurant to friends visiting London.
The food was fantastic, a real Tamil Nadu experience.
The paratha was to die for.
Would recommend this very highly!
Wonderful experience ! Very nice choice of south indian meals. Arif was very friendly to us. We appreciated very much to share everything !
Food wasn’t interesting. Vegetarian dishes were very mushy, especially two spinach dishes.
We visited Chettinad for my birthday with friends. The front of house service was a bit haphazard, but improved throughout the night. The highlight of the evening was the starter: The Chettinad Platter - Wow, Simon Lynne delicious and would thoroughly recommend this with some rice or breads. The paneer dosa was a disappointment. It was folded flat and soggy and heavy. I have had dosa once before from a London Street food stall on the South Bank and was hoping to relive this amazing experience, but it just didn’t compare. The accompaniments were bland and didn’t add anything to the dosa, I would either try a different one or avoid altogether. The curry’s were OK. My friend had the Lamb Madras and really enjoyed it (if you truly like chilli spice). My husband and I had the same lamb curry, but I asked for mine to have a little extra spice. What I got was the same curry, but with some fresh chopped green finger chillies added in at the last minute. The result was quite unpleasant as the chillies hadn’t been cooked in or through the curry. I wish the waiter had either recommended an alternative spicier curry or suggested that that might not work as a dish. Either way I didn’t eat the majority of my dish and it marred my eating experience. The Sicilian red wine we ordered was delicious! All in all a mixed experience. Their Chettinad Platter would be worth another visit for, but I wouldn’t eat the remainder we ordered that night again.
It was my daughter's birthday, I resheared the place first but the food was mediocre at best I was disappointed
This is a South Asian Restaurant. The food is excellent. Specially the paper thin Dosai. There are vegetarian and meat and we ordered different Dosais and they were all very good.
The ordered drinks came on time but the jug of water we asked for did not come to the table until two reminders were given!
Bad food - hard lamb appetizer tasteless dosa. An example of a featureless restaurant
Southern food was a first for us. Our waiter made good suggestions. The dinner was delicious. The atmosphere was attractive and the noise level moderate. We enjoyed this and if in London again would go back.
It was good and well priced. The spicing had surprising complexity. But the array of other ingredients in each dish was less interesting. The options for indian food in the vicinity are pretty good. So if the specific location is a must, the budget is spare, and ambience matters, Chettinad is a good choice.
Loved the food! Would definitely recommend :)
PS: A little Smile from the staff wouldn’t hurt.
Gutes Essen, aber sehr laut, wenn gut besucht. Keine Fenster. Am besten einen Platz nahe am Eingang wählen
Amazing food, fresh and authentic. Service lovely and atmosphere great. We visited as part of a trip to London but would return if we were in the area again.
