Chez Billy Sud
What Insiders Are Saying
For classic French food in Georgetown, head to Chez Billy Sud.
So sweet they brought us champagne for our anniversary. Everything was perfect.
GOD! I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR SO MANY QUESTIONS -- YOU SHOULD JUST ASK WAS IT GOOD OR NOT. THIS IS AN INTRUSION.
I’ve lived in (and eaten my way through) DC for years and this is by far my favorite restaurant in the city.
The mussels. ❤️❤️❤️. Yum. Actually, everything I’ve tried is exceptional.
Wonderful traditional French food. We rolled the dice, took our granddaughters, age two and five, and were treated warmly. No kid menu but they were prepared with coloring place mats and crayons. The food was as good as we had hoped for, and the wine list extensive and fun. It was casual enough to make it easy to take the girls, but French enough to let us think we were on the other side of the Atlantic. We would definitely go back.
Amazing! Everything was perfect.
Casual French Bistro with an amazing bar and a beautiful patio.
Chez Billy Sud has become my new favorite restaurant. It is an absolutely charming bistro, with delicious food. I just took out of town guests there and they loved it too.
Love the restaurant any time!
Took my cousin there for her birthday. We reminisced about being in France. It was lovely.
Lovely anniversary dinner!!!
We had exceptional service and an outstanding meal. Thank you Chef!!
We dined with out of town friends and had a beautiful meal served by an attentive and knowledgeable server. The restaurant setting is charming, and it is wonderful to be able to converse without screaming. The trout was prepared in a delicious manner and I will have to say the romaine lettuce for the Cesar salad was quite unusual and amazingly delicious served with a light dressing. It was a perfect evening in Georgetown.
Fabulous food, service and ambiance. Well done!
My husband and I came to DC to celebrate his birthday. We thought your restaurant looked special from the website for both ambience and menu. We were absolutely delighted with the ambience, it feels more likeParis than DC. The food was expertly prepared. We both had fish and our dishes superb. We started with a salad of Boston lettuce and radishes. The dressing was fantastic and so were our cocktails! Yummy! Our server could not have been more charming if she tried. Don’t miss the gorgeous bar next door and part of the restaurant. There is also a patio for outdoor dining. This restaurant is a gem.
I am not sure why this restaurant is not more appreciated. Everything about our dinner was perfection. Great service, great atmosphere, great decor. And the food was just outstanding. Every dish we had was really special and notable. I can’t wait to go back. This is a true gem.
The food, service, and ambiance were all excellent. Our party of four each ordered a different entrée and everyone was very satisfied. The soft shell crabs were delicious and the portion was generous.
Superb - cute restaurant in a stellar location. Brunch was light, fresh and delicious. The Rose Window Cocktail was one of the best combinations I have had...can’t wait to return and try more from the exquisite menu.
I would characterize the escargot as search and recovery. Buried within a pile of similarly sized bland mushrooms the first snail was gritty and flavorless. None of the others were gritty but all were under whelming. At $17 this was a disappointment. Next up mustard mussels. While the mussels were plump like the appetizer the entree was also bland. Very disappointed. Service was fine. Would not return or recommend.
REally enjoy the atmosphere and the food. A delightful place
The steak, seafood, and wine were excellent. The ambiance was outstanding.
Our first time at Chez Billy Sud. It was outstanding. The atmosphere, the food, the service were all excellent. Will definitely return.
Love this place. Great food, great service and it’s one of my favorites.
Return to DC every year at least twice to visit friend who has lived in Georgetown forever. How did I not know about this restaurant. Will make it a stop of all future trips. Food is excellent. I was fortunate to be there the day soft shell crabs came in for the first time. Beautifully prepared and presented. Shared the much talked about asparagus appetizer and was not disappointed. The service was also excellent - a knowledgeable and attentive waiter who was able to talk both food and wine and make an excellent suggestion for the perfect wine to accompany what we ordered. Timing was also perfect although busy Saturday night did not rush. suggest starting with Rose Window cocktail the perfect start for a very French evening. Could have very easily have been in Paris.
First, the waiter was perfect! I see on my receipt it says server was Simon T.
My dining companion ordered "STEAK FRITES Allen Brothers strip steak, pommes frites, sauce béarnaise" for $38. I tasted and found this to be the most delicious steak I have ever tasted! Also, it was a large size which was good given the price.
I ordered the "LOUP DE MER sea bass, fennel barigoule, white beans, tomato confit, parsley pistou." This was okay not better than okay. I assumed it would be Chilean sea bass - my favorite - but not close. This was a small filet like some other restaurants serve and call Branzino. I Googled and see now that another name for this is "European Sea Bass (a.k.a. "Branzino", "Loup de Mer" or "Bar" and I didn't know this when I ordered "Loup de Mer". The other part that was not interesting was the sauce which I guess is the "parlesy pistou". It was too strong and I think would have better if served over a bed of rice.
Love the white wine I had "Big Salt" from Oregon.
It was perfect, as usual. Chez Billy is among the most reliable restaurants in my list of haunts. I wouldn’t change a thing.
Very poor service and when we brought it to the manager’s attention, she basically said “oh” and did nothing. Caesar salad was watery and dressing was bland. Had the sea bass which was ok but very small portion for the price. It is a cute place but we won’t be going back.
The house salad was excellent, as were the Duck Confit and steak. Entree choices heavily fish oriented. A chicken option would be appreciated. Nevertheless, this is an excellent restaurant well worth dining at.
This was our second time dining there this year and it feels like a place to go to celebrate, feel special. The food and the service are excellent and the ambiance is a big part of why it feels like a special place. Highly recommended.
Fantastic in every way The service was exceptional and the food and wine exquisite I will definitely recommend Billy Said to all my friends
I had the best time. Everything was perfect.
This is one of the best French restaurants we have eaten at. The service is impeccable, the food amazing and the ambiance is charming. We made sure we visited this restaurant for each of our visits to Georgetown (visiting our daughter at college). Looking forward to our next visit! Highly recommend.
I’ve lived in the D.C. area my whole life and had never been here until Saturday night. Walking in was like stepping into a quaint little place in France! The service was outstanding, as was the food. The cocktails were some of the most well-balanced I’ve ever had. We unfortunately had to rush through our meal to get to the theatre or we would have a stayed for dessert and another cocktail! I highly recommend!
A wonderful place always very good! I love it for lunch.
A hidden gem in Georgetown. The outside seating was a pleasant surprise. Food delicious. Interesting and delicious wines by the bottle at nice prices. The asparagus appetizer was off the charts!
Our go to place..never disappoints! City chic..great food, perfectly attentive service..our family loves Chez Billy Sud.
We had a great evening at Chez Billy Sud, from drinks to dessert. Great waiter, too — Cameron — attentive without being intrusive.
Food was adequate but nothing special, which is sad. Used to be such a fine restaurant.
Would definitely recommend for brunch! Lovely traditional place with excellent food and service!
Great atmosphere, delicious food & awesome service!
