Chez Billy Sud
What Insiders Are Saying
For classic French food in Georgetown, head to Chez Billy Sud.
It was extremely noisy on a Sunday nite at 9p. Good service and food.
Fantastic taste. Great restaurant. Just wish portion sizes were bigger for the brunch items
The service was outstanding! We had a waiter who was attentive and bonus spoke fluent French. The presentation was great. The atmosphere reminds of a country French cafe. I will def go back.
great for a special occasion like an anniversary 💖
We went to celebrate my brothers birthday but they didn’t care much. Always restaurants sends a some cake with candle. I told our server that his birthday she said she got it but nothing happened. Food was average specially my mussels weren’t that good. I think this restaurant is declining its reputation
Ordered meal with specific instructions for dressing on the side to avoid allergic reaction. Salad arrived dressed.
Wonderful French restaurant. Very intimate.
Fantastic meal at Chez Billy Sud. Gracious service and the best kir royale I ever had. Perfect for a romantic dinner.
Limited but excellent menu. Attentive staff and good service
Great surprise. Good martini and excellent trout. Nice ambiance. Will come back. Jmp
The food has deteriorated in quality since my last visit. They have change several preparations that simply miss. The service is outstanding and it’s best feature
Perfect for celebration.
Just an extraordinary evening. Food was perfection and our server could not have been more helpful and efficient. We will be back soon.
Excellent in every way. Service was particularly good. Cocktail was mixed beautifully. Lovely meal
We really enjoyed this restaurant. We live in London and generally don't enjoy the fast pace of most American restaurants so this was a pleasant surprise. We also dislike waiting staff who repeatedly ask if everything is ok with our meal so the inobtrusive but efficient service in Chez Billy Sud was also a welcome change. The ambiance matched the French cuisine really well and though it was busy, it was easy to hold a conversation. The food was beautifully prepared and presented, and though we wouldn't necessarily choose the same dishes again (my husband thinks escargots are best served simply in butter) we can't fault the quality of those that we had. Our only comments would be that the prices were quite high compared to where we live in the suburbs of London, though I am assured that they are fairly typical for Washington DC, and that when people entered or left the restaurant, there was an icy blast blowing in from the street, despite the two sets of doors.
Everything was delicious, the best foie grass I ever had, fantastic confit and Paris-Brest. Great wine list.
Really enjoy this restaurant. Been to several times, whenever I visit Georgetown. Try the mussels, les moules. Love the simple salade verte, too.
My mother and I went to Chez Billy Sud for my birthday meal. It was the perfect restaurant for the occasion. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the wine, and the kind service. They surprised me with a candle in our dessert. Can’t wait to go back!
Superb food and service. Excellent cocktails and wines by the glass.
Absolutely fantastic food and service. The duck a l'orange entree was, well, exquisite. Fantastic service - it was my birthday and our waitress was just the best (we happen to share the same birthday!) We will definitely return, and want to do so in the spring/summer when we can sit outside on the sweet looking patio. I have already recommended Chez Billy Sud to all of my friends.
One of my favorites in Georgetown. Super cute and small. Beef cheeks, duck and mussels are always a a go to! Also the rose window is one of my favorite cocktails of all times! Can't wait to come back in summer to sit on the patio.
We were here for our anniversary and the service was impeccable. They were very attentive and timely with everything and wished us a happy anniversary and provided 2 complementary glasses of sparkling wine. The food was excellent, though you certainly pay for it. The duck confit and steak frites were both excellent and decently portioned. The escargot appetizer was delicious but there’s probably more value with the pate since the escargot is $17 which seems too high. Dessert and drink options all good. Overall, an excellent choice and we would recommend.
The food was exquisite and the service impeccable.
The mussels were very disappointing. The sauce was tasteless.
Frisee salad quite disappointing. Insufficient and old frisee lettuce.
The service was so off I can’t begin to tell you. It took us so long to get our martinis and the bartender was just not on his game. Even after coming to the table and apologizing for not having the vodka that we wanted, he still made many other drinks before he finally made ours. It’s a small place and you can watch what’s going on. The waitress seems to be unable to manage a lot of attention and it was annoying to have to call her over a couple of times. She should’ve realized that things were late or not accompanying the table properly. I expected more from this restaurant. I also found the salads to be on inspiring, and the muscles which I expect in a French restaurant to be exquisite, were too large, mushy and tasteless.
This is a superb local restaurant. We enjoyed our meal very much. However, we thought that $116 plus tip for 2 without appetizers was too high for a neighborhood weekday meal. We would go more often if it were more reasonable.
I’m hesitant to review. I’ve been here for dinner several times and the meal was excellent. The Steak Frite is the best in town. Great Pate Maison. Went for brunch and was disappointed. The Croque Madame had no béchamel and was a little dry. The Beignets were a bit dry and not sweet enough. Pate was still excellent. Bloody Mary was good. I’d advise definitely for dinner, not so much for Brunch. Check out La Piquette for brunch.
loved it !! mac had great recommendations and we enjoyed everything !!
All super and server excellent!
Food was amazing!
This was exactly what we wanted for our date night: tasteful and romantic atmosphere, delicious food, and attentive service. Thank you - we will be back.
Delicious food, lovely ambiance, excellent location. The staff is good but they could tighten up their service to take experience to best level. Nevertheless this is my go to place to celebrate friends , have a nice meal and talk.
Elegant and authentic but they MUST do something more creative with their menu and have specials. How many times can I come back and have the trout? I shows a laxness or disinterest on the part of the owners that they do not offer specials. They are very good at what they do but to come back frequently they need to add some life to the place and some new items on a daily basis. Perhaps one daily special.
Great food and ambience. We had an exceptional waiter as well. It was Valentine’s Day lunch and they were busy but stayed classy.
So my wife are actually in the Food and Beverage industry and we always say the same thing, 'If we were to do our own project this would be what we envision. Its a place to take you away from all that ails you in life. Staff, ambiance and food are just wonderful. wish you would come to our neighborhood in Del Ray, Alexnadria.
Lovely dining experience from beginning to end. I love the cozy, yet lively atmosphere. Our waitress was personable and knew the menu and wines very well. Her style and personality contributed to the overall experience. It was was a long dinner, but we also didn't signal that we were in hurry. We had a lot to talk about and were having a good time. We started with the Rillettes at the recommendation of our waitress, and it did not disappoint. I had the duck l'orange which was perfectly prepared. My friend had the gnocchi, which we all tried and thought was wonderful. The other had the trout which is a classic, which we all tried and enjoyed. Again, overall wonderful experience.
I love the restaurant. Food, service and ambience are all wonderful. Look forward to returning.
Next time I will be visiting Washington D.C., you will see me here again
I don't normally write restaurant reviews, but had such a positive experience at Chez Billy Sud that I felt compelled to share it. Our service was, without hesitation, the best I have ever experienced and easily rivaled restaurants that cost twice the price. From taking our jackets upon entry to helping my wife search for a dropped earring, to helping us through our indecision regarding which wine to order and providing descriptions of the available dishes that could have come from a food magazine, we were blown away by the level of service and dedication the staff displayed. When my wife and I ordered the last of a certain desert, our server brought the disappointed couple next to us who had planned on ordering the same dish a complementary desert. The food was absolutely phenomenal, delicious, and very authentic. I cannot recommend Chez Billy Sud enough and, in the two days since going, have already recommended it in person to multiple friends and coworkers. My wife and I will definitely be back in the future!
