We hope to see everyone soon!
A staff so warm and caring that gave us just the right amount of attention. Soft shell crabs so delicious that we returned a week later for more! And all were extremely careful about spacing and sanatizing . We felt very secure.
The best gin and tonic I’ve ever had (Hendricks gin).
Ice Cold Martini, Chilled Rosè, Excellent Soft Shell Crabs! Wonderful Chicken Liver Mousse (would love the recipe) served with piping hot toasted baguette. The service was performed perfectly with facemasks and little contact. A beautiful D.C. summer evening on a romantic outdoor patio. Couldn't ask for more.
Awesome place. I would recommend this place to a friend..
My friend and I arrived (both women) and were seated at a 2 top not on the patio but outside of it. We were both wearing nice dresses. A young couple directly after us was seated inside the patio at a nice 4 top. She was wearing jeans and a crop top; he was wearing shorts and a tee shirt - both had on tennis shoes. They were 20 years younger and were given a better table. They were in and out within an hour. My friend and I had a cocktail, a bottle of wine, appetizers, our main course and desert (that the waiter didn’t bother to take out of the “to go” container.) I’ve definitely had better service. The food was outstanding but the service was lacking.
Had inside table which was great due to a/c on a humid DC night! The dining room was atmospheric and quietly elegant. Our server Torrance was awesome, and very helpful when deciding what to order. I had duck confit which was amazing, 2 others had the steak & frites which they said was excellent, and one other had the burger which he couldn't finish because it was so big! But he said it was delicious. Nice pre-dinner cocktail menu. I had the Pimms cup which was yummy. Nice touch was that we didn't order any desserts, but were sent home with 2 complimentary small chocolate cakes to share. We will definitely be back!
We returned to Chez BS after a long hiatus from any restaurant dining. CBS had just opened the week previous and only outside on their patio. The patio/alley is more than comfortable and real feels like vacation. CBS has installed wonderful overhead awnings that are both handsome and practical. We enjoyed our meal and were sent home with desert fixings - 2nd week open no desert menu yet. We loved our father's day meal at 6:30. No rushing - good a service and fine food. BTW - our last meal out before the CV 19 shutdown was at Chez BS so we did a bit of a loop. Best to all! Stay safe and we certainly felt that way last Sunday.
Delicious food and very attentive service, particularly during a very challenging time. Good to be able to dine there again!
All tables are now seated outside and on a beautiful evening it is really special. One of the best Caesar saladsI’ve ever had and I recommend the trout and soft shells. Post shutdown, our server seemed especially pleased to have customers. Can’t wait to go back. Tip them generously bc they’ve been out of work!!!
Delicious meal and outstanding service in their patio.
Chez Billy Sud
My wife and I eloped earlier in the day and came to Chez Billy Sud to celebrate our first meal together. We wanted a good outdoor dinner, given the COVID-19 environment. Somewhere new for us that would be tasty, with good decor.
Our experience was excellent and memorable. The setup of the outdoor seating felt like we were in a different city, not Washington, D.C. - it was a pleasant surprise.
The food was great. We had caesar salad, tomato cucumber soup, steak frites, and a chocolate dessert. The steak frites especially were wonderful.
Our server Torrance really took care of us. He gave us good recommendations and he was engaging. He and the other servers took appropriate precautions in helping us and the restaurant, but they were all still friendly and attentive. We received a round of champagne on the house, plus an additional round from another family kind enough to surprise us with one.
And when we left, everyone at the restaurant started clapping for us. It was a special moment that will stick with us for our lifetime.
Overall 5 Star experience - no question. We’ll be back!
Chez Billy Sud was recommended to us as a great place for a quiet family birthday dinner, great ambiance, excellent food and for just being a perfect place for French dining. It had all that and met all expectations and more. The staff are super friendly. I wish the inside seating opened soon. It is filled with vintage things, there's an old woodburning fireplace and it just smells incredibly. Definitely looking forward to coming back.
It was so great to get back to Chez Billy Sud a few days after they re-opened. The staff here does such a great job and it was great to see them after all this time. We sat out on the patio and the weather was perfect! The food - soft shell crabs - just outstanding!! Still the best soft shells in the city! Love this restaurant. Looking forward to coming back soon!
Thank you so much! We can't to see you again 💕
Always fantastic! Currently, they have a limited patio menu but it is still delicious.
Absolutely the best preparation and presentation. For me, THE go-to special occasion place.
Thank you so much Sally!
Service was amazing. I would definitely go back with friends the scene is great! Perfect for a quick French bite or drinks with friends.
Wonderful service as they opened back up. Lovely!
Exceptional. The dining room, the ambiance, the meal, the service - bravo! Thank you, Debra and Chez Billy Sud, for a delightful evening.
A great little intimate and delicious restaurant. Steak and mussels were wonderful, as was the Caesar salad.
Just a perfect date night spot. Cosy bistro seating. Super friendly staff. Tasty dishes, both seasonal offerings and French classics. We will be back!
Great experience. Service and food were fantastic. Great atmosphere for date night.
Chez Billy was amazing!! I can’t say enough good things about our experience. The food was amazing. The ambiance is perfect, very quaint and chic. Will be back !!
Fantastic food and ambience! We will definitely come back.
In my opinion, it's the best overall French restaurant in DC. Yes, better than Le Dip. But please don't go, as I don't want it to get any harder for me to get a table here. Service is always attentive and professional.
The three of us had trout, tuna, and salmon, all was excellent.
Beautiful little French restaurant in Georgetown with gorgeous interior and perfect menu. Went to brunch and every detail is magnificent! Service attentive and friendly. The Niçoise salad was delicious and be sure to sample the beignets.
Chez Billy Sud is a true neighborhood restaurant that works well for either a casual night out or a more special date night. The food is always on point and the execution is true to the classics. Nothing is 're-imagined' or 'interpreted', just technically cooked extremely well. Our server (whose name I didn't catch, regretfully) was tremendous and seemed to be handling 1/2 the dining room incredibly graciously. We had drinks at 3 different restaurants during our night, and the ones at Chez billy Sud were the most consistently executed and well-balanced. Consistency is a sadly overlooked attribute when everyone wants to be 'new' but Chez Billy Sud continues to exemplify the idea that care and execution are the real drivers of success. We'll absolutely be back, especially for the patio and rose in the summer / spring.
This is an 'casual' vibe but upscale French restaurant, elegant, charming, with impeccable service. The food is outstanding. Highly recommended.
Dining experience was spectacular as always. Party included a 90 year old. Service was courteous. Noise level low as we were seated in small front room having few tables, and tables wee well spaced.
We came for lunch at 12:30 on Saturday and it was EXTREMELY noisy. It finally quieted down later.
My salad was good once they cooked the tuna a little more. The waiter could have been more attentive. He seemed to disappear at times.
We thought it was odd that they don't offer espresso or cappuccino. Maybe simplicity is better for them, but we thought it was a bit inhospitable. He said there were so many coffee places nearby... Not a big problem.
Overall, it was a very nice lunch.
This was a wonderful evening out from the warm bread served with the salads and appetizers to the complimentary champagne that came with dessert (the attentive waitress had figured out there was a birthday being celebrated). The mussels were particularly delicious, and my husband and I loved the sea bass with fennel. Lovely.
Amazing experience - perfect table!
Wonderful restaurant. Great food in great area. Service was excellent too.
The croque madame was good, not great--too bread-y and not enough gooey stuff. But the caesar salad was one of the best I've had in a long time, the burger and fries were very good, and the cotes-du-Rhone--new to the menu as our wonderful server told us--was a lovely choice. The sweet, light-filled and calm ambiance of the restaurant is a welcome respite in trying times, and we'll definitely go back.
Excellent dinner for a celebration with my mother!
The beef cheeks were great! My wife steak was ordered medium rare and came medium to well done. A new steak prepared which was burnt on the bottom but cooked to medium rare. The frites were a complete failure. This is a high end restaurant. Those frites should have never made it past the kitchen doors. They were limp, oily and had no seasoning. At that point the wine bottle was finished and I had finished my meal so we decided to not complain further but pay the bill and go home.
The food is not consistent. I have come here a few times and generally order the same dishes like the trout and the escargot each visit. The fish was totally over cooked and dry this time. It seemed deep fried and flavorless. In the past it was not this way. The escargot dish was mostly puff pastry and mushrooms, barely any escargot (and for $22?!). The staff is a bit fussy so good luck trying to get something redone.
Traditional bistro style menu with offerings that few restaurants continue to provide. Very fine meal.
Don’t usually take the time to write reviews but we had such a great time last night celebrating my fathers 72nd birthday I felt compelled to share our experience. Place was a little noisier than expected but it’s hard to get super quiet during peak dinner hours and my dad is hard of hearing anyhow. Food was amazing, we enjoyed the Allen Brothers steak, Duck confit and Ahi Tuna for entrees. The chicken liver mousse and the country pate’s for appetizers were amazing. Service was impeccable, I can’t remember our waiters name for the life of me but he was a young 23 year old blonde guy and was super personable and on top of his game all night, very attentive but also not overbearing. My husband and I are in the service industry as well and we were super impressed with everything. Props to Chez Billy and the entire FOH & BOH staff for a wonderful night to remember. :)
