We have a carefully chosen wine list and an interesting selection of drinks. We look forward to welcoming you to Chez Dominique where you can enjoy good food and drink in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere.
Large group of us met here pre-theatre. Good food on prix fixe menu, good wines and friendly service. Background music a bit annoying at first (noticed it less as the place filled up) and the tables are quite small and close together. But it had a nice feel and we will definitely come again.
Chez Dominique is a small French restaurant serving very good food at a reasonable price, in a friendly atmosphere. We’re regular customers.
We had the set menu which was great value for money. The staff were lovely and the restaurant was a very intimate setting for dinner which we really liked.
Delicious food & good value for a pre concert dinner
We arrived on time and were seated at a nice table. Unfortunately we had no service after that. We waited for half an hour and we didn’t even get a menu or water given to us, nor did any of the staff even look over towards us. You could see from the other tables that service was very slow so we reluctantly made the decision that we were unlikely to have a good evening and so walked out. It’s quite disappointing as we’ve had good food there in the past.
This is a perfect bistro in the centre of Bath. Chez Dominique is exactly the cosy, welcoming place to eat on a cold night after a day sightseeing. Equally if I lived in Bath this would definitely be my local. The menu is small - always a plus for me - but the choice is excellent - perhaps a second vegetarian option on the mains would be a good idea - but for non veggies the decision of what to have was hard. The people sitting next to us booked for the following evening as they wanted to try more. We would have possibly done the same had we not been leaving and it would have meant my husband having the same veggie meal. My crab risotto and his wild mushroom soup were both delicious. Is tomato tarte was light and full of flavour and my lamb was melt in the mouth delicious. The service was warm and friendly and made for a perfect end to our visit to Bath. The drinks are fab too - The elderflower cocktail was refreshing and the wines very reasonably priced. Excellent value.
We had the BEST night here! The scallops starter was divine and the chateaubriand steak was some of the best we’ve ever had. The service was also excellent - enthusiastic and helpful staff really looked after us. The Provence rose wine was delicious and the lively atmosphere and soft candles helped us celebrate our anniversary in style. A truly top night - we thoroughly recommend Chez Dominique!!
Food was very good - mushroom soup for starters and fish as main. The chips were slow being served, but no charge was made for them. All in all a great experience and good value.
The staff were all grumpy and not bothered. I had a feeling they like a huge fight in the morning and later only barely could stand each other. Very eerie... The food was fine and decent but not worth these prices to be honest. Maybe it's all because we were expecting a fancy lunch experience but is turned out more like a "here's your food and get out" :-) off the list for us, sorry...
My friends and I had a really wonderful time. The waiter was friendly and fun. We had various dietary requirements and the 4 of us are a fairly fussy and demanding group, despite this our waiter took fantastic care of us. The food was outstanding and I would travel to Bath just to visit the restaurant again.
Went on a Saturday before heading to the rugby. We had a problem with two members of our reservation being late and the staff were very accommodating. Food was exceptional - we all had the steak. Great menu. Worth booking! Will definitely go again.
I stopped in on a Friday evening at 9:00 for supper, with an Open Table reservation. I was seated immediately, the space is small but nicely decorated. Feels cozy & intimate. Rather than a main, I had soup of the day (curried butternut squash with coconut cream) and a starter of venison in a blackberry sauce. Both were excellent. For dessert, I had Creme brûlée with blackberry and spiced fruit compote. I had a glass of Malbec and the house complimentary bread basket for a total of £31.50. A lovely & satisfying dinner. The service could have been slight more attentive towards the end of the meal when I needed to ask twice for the bill. Otherwise, absolutely no complaints. Would certainly dine here again when visiting Bath.
Good food, great service by lovely staff and a good, relaxed atmosphere.
Always excellent! Delicious, well presented food, extremely good value and service from Jamie!
Classic, simple dishes beautifully prepared in a cosy and comfortable atmosphere with lovely staff and excellent service - Great wine list as well - Highly recommended!!
Great food!! Nice service. Great value for money. I highly recommend the leak risotto and the cabbage soup
Second visit here - what has happened within just 2 weeks !
Requested a specific table 12 days in advance of booking - was not given it , even though it was empty ! Did not contact me to tell me table was not available. It was our anniversary, so a special meal. They did give us Prosecco on arrival .
Grumpy and rude waitresses .
However the worst part was we waited an 1 hour and 10 minutes for our food . Nothing seemed to be coming out of the kitchen at all . Other people were complaining too.
The atmosphere felt stressed , staff not pleasant .
A shared toilet - this might be an issue for some .
Won’t bother again
Staff were extremely helpful and food was excellent.
Food is great as is wine list .... getting a bit more expensive but still a great experience
Bath has lots of choice but few have the charm and good service that you will find at Chez Dominique. The prix fixe is good value but there is no skimping on quality. The dishes are always interesting and the service is attentive and helpful. There is no need to look anywhere else.
Great food ! Such good service ! We came at 6:30 and the tables starting filling up quickly and we could see why! Had a table for two by the window really comfy! Still thinking about the onglet I had !
Thoughtful service, greeted on arrival by a glass of prosecco for the wife's birthday. Seated front of the house by the door. It is warm inside, so enjoyed the breeze by the oft propped open door (small place, so not unexpected). Started off with ok complementary bread, and proper room temp butter. Lovely (aka amazing) scallops to start followed by seasonal new partridge - perfectly cooked and moist. Delicious. Wine recommendation spot on, not unreasonable (Mystique(?) bottle c£28 I believe). Dessert enjoyed by wife (pineapple tartine with coconut ice cream). Great flavour, but wished they used fresh rather than tinned pineapple (pricey at £8.50). I tried the well recommended Norfolk (VX?) Blended Spirit - blend of port/sherry/whisky type mix. Biscuit/Date/Plums/hint of ginger heat from the whiskey. Interesting and good. Overall great little family restaurant and can recommend. Lovely service and food on point. Was fully booked with many turned away on a Sunday evening.. so this is a popular joint, and rightly so.
We were recommended Chez Dominique who know we love France! We were not disappointed - the whole experience was lovely.
Would definitely recommend booking beforehand as we did as those who hadn’t prebooked were unable to get a table.
Took my partner her for our one year anniversary and we were greeted with a complimentary glass of champagne each and congratulated. The owner/manager talked us through the entire menu and made sure we were all ok. The food was honestly some of the best I’ve had and will never forget how good the meal was. Not to mention how attentive the staff were the whole time. I absolutely love the whole experience and can’t wait to go back! Love it love it love it!
Very quiet so service was excellent. Food very good and well priced. Wine perhaps a little expensive.
Lovely birthday dinner for my 83 year old father in their private room in the back. The views over Bath Weir and the sound of the water added to the ambience. We opted for the prix fixe menu which is good value: £15 for two courses and £18 for three. Three of our party had the oglette steak which came pink and delicious. The fish and risotto was tasty too. Loved the butternut squash soup! Creamy vanilla ice cream was enjoyed and cheesecake served in a glass with the crust blended through. Service was attentive but not over bearing. My dad was presented with a free glass of Prosecco! Gluten free and vegetarian options available. Would recommend to anyone seeking a reasonable French dinner but not too pricey in this expensive city!
A nice little French bistro serving classic bourgeois dishes on Pulteney Bridge in Bath. Very obliging service and reasonable pricing (Dover Sole for £22! ) The food was generally very flavourful, with good use of beans and pulses. A little more attention to detail is required - pear served with a prawn salad was very under ripe, and french fries needed longer in the fryer, being sent out blonde and needing to be crisped. All in all, a decent neigbourhood restaurant: I would go again if in the area, but not make a special journey.
I was impressed by the quality of the food especially as I had the fixed price early menu.
My wife however went al a carte and was equally pleased.
Amazing food and lovely staff, we had a wonderful evening here
Such a wonderful ambience, Cosy yet elegant. Great service. Food was excelled
First class Resaurant, one of the best I’ve been too inc London. Will definitely return.
Very lovely , smiley staff . Food was delicious and just a little different . Service got dessert a little slow but it didn’t matter as you could just drink in the ambience .
We really like chez Dominique
Both good and bad. Had the fixed price menu which is good value. The food was very good but portions are quite small. The restaurant was very busy and very warm. They were understaffed. Our waitress forgot our order and we were kept waiting for ages (although I did appreciate the fact that we weren’t charged for our deserts as a result). With another waiter and slightly bigger portions I’d have given a much better review.
This venue was ideal for a celebration for a smallish group or couple. It had a delightful intimate atmosphere. The food was excellent. Staff attentive but not intrusive.
The food and service were as good as always.
Would not hesitate to recommend.
Really enjoyed my evening at Chez Dominic. Menu was small but interesting. I shared a chateaubriand with my friend, a much under-rated dish I feel. It was probably one of the best I have ever eaten, the steak totally tender, the béarnaise excellent too. I found the desserts not much to my liking, just as a matter of choice, which is why I rated this restaurant as excellent rather than outstanding.
Very enjoyable on all fronts.. booked again already!
We had an incredible meal, HIGH quality food, excellent service and all around great experience.
Amazing food and service during our short stay in Bath. Fantastic presentation and flavours - great choices for a pescatarian too!
Very enjoyable meal, service and food both excellent. We will definitely be back.
