We have a carefully chosen wine list and an interesting selection of drinks. We look forward to welcoming you to Chez Dominique where you can enjoy good food and drink in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere.
Highly recommend Chez Dominique. Good food, time between courses just right, noisy enough to give it a buzz but not to noisy and attentive but not to attentive staff. In other words a good balance of everything my wife and I look for in a restaurant. My wife is gluten intolerant and she did not feel like there is a lack of choice on the menu.
SUCH A SHAME. THIS WAS OUR 4TH VIST AND WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO IT.
THE FOOD ON THE WHOLE WAS OK BUT THE PORTION OF FISH I HAD WAS SO TINY - ABOUT 2" BY 1.5" WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. IT WAS VERY TASTY BUT VERY MEAN ON ITS SIZE. THE SAME FOR THE PUDDING WHICH WAS A QUARTER OF A BANANA CUT IN TWO WITH A SMALL SCOOP OF ICE CREAM AND A TIMBLE SIZE CAKE. THE SCALLOPS WERENT THAT FRESH EITHER.
MAYBE A RE-THINK ON THEIR PART IS REQUIRED.
We have been here several times and it never fails to impress. Excellent prix fixe menu makes it a great option to if you want to pay a bit less. Really friendly service and nice setting too.
Such a good restaurant, food is very good and so is service. Everyone goes the extra mile. Set in a lovely part of town and deserves to do sell in a city where there is strong competition.
We’ve just had a truly delicious meal at Chez Dominique. Everything was incredible and so fresh - I’d particularly recommend the John Dory, Seared tuna and praline moelleux. We will definitely be back when we are next in Bath.
This was my first visit and I will definitely be going back! The food was amazing and the service was very good.
Great experience, food was fantastic, service excellent and generally just a nice place to eat. Would definitely recommend.
This was a return visit for my partner and I, and I'm happy to report that the second time round was just as good as the first. We opted for the excellent value prix fixe menu; partner had the chilled soup for starters and I had the pickled anchovies; both were great. For the main course we both had the onglet steak; as for our first visit, the steaks were cooked to our specifications and were tasty and tender, served with green salad and frites. For dessert I had mango sorbet and strawberry ice cream while my partner had the chocolate dessert. Again, both were delicious. We had a nice bottle of Pinot Grigot to accompany the meal and finished with coffees. The service was friendly and efficient; this place has a really nice atmosphere and we were made to feel welcome. A nice place to celebrate a special occasion or for an informal meal. I will definitely return on my next trip to Bath.
Thoughtfully prepared food all fresh and well presented. Excellent service.
A great restaurant with lovely staff and superb food. The Prix Fixe menu is excellent value. It's the second time I've lunched there and loved it both times! I thoroughly recommend.
I was impressed with all aspects of Chez Dominique in Bath; service was very good (but not intrusive), food delicious and relaxed atmosphere - highly recommend.
We arrived in Bath in the late afternoon and went to an early dinner at Chez Dominique, in time for the pre-theatre menu. What a terrific value! Three of us ordered the onglet and one had cod. They were all cooked perfectly and had delicious sauces.
Really wanted to love this place based on the previous reviews but it just didn’t live up to standards. Our waiter was friendly but had very strong body odour and dirty nails which is off putting for a person who is handling your food! I was expecting a more French menu but it was pretty standard fare. The acoustics were bad so there wasn’t much atmosphere and it was hard to hear each other. The scallops and sea bass were ok, but my friend’s pork was tough and chewy. Overall good value but probably wouldn’t go back.
Excellent food, really friendly and helpful service, great atmosphere, I would happily go back
The initial attention shown by staff was very good and the food, although pricy was certainly worth it; excellent in fact and a good selection of wines. However this was let down by slow service especially after we finished the main course, it took at least 15 minutes to receive the dessert menu and after another 15 minutes or so I had to get the attention of the server to order dessert, which when arrived was excellent.
Very pleased with our family visit here. The nibbles were delicious prior to the main course, both the Lamb and Beef being superbly cooked. Service was efficient but unobtrusive. The speed was very relaxed so do not expect fast food, but the food should make you feel very happy. At £40 per head including beer and wine this was well priced.
Absolutely splendid, as ever. Constantly great, despite the Opentable site insisting on 50 character comments.
A very nice atmosphere and lovely food. Busy and we did order coffee at the end of the meal and this never materialised
But we still enjoyed the meal and can happily recommend the restaurant.
A perfect restaurant to enjoy a wonderful meal with friends. We all enjoyed our food. Restaurant was very relaxed. Would definitely recommend.
Took my wife for her 30th. Wonderful and personalized service from Julien. The man has an obvious passion for the job. Food and wine were exceptional. Make sure to ask for the secret room with the view of the bridge and water. You won’t be disappointed.
We had a delicious meal, after attending a Bath Festival event. Food was delicious, staff were great, and the ambience was perfect. Very busy for a Monday night, when we passed other restaurants with very little going on. A little gem in the centre of Bath, which we shall use again and again.
We very much enjoyed our lunch here on a Monday. They were a bit pushed on the serving front as the Environmental Health Inspector had paid them a visit that morning and this had evidently held them up in preparing for service. However the waiting staff were cheerful and dealt with everyone in turn as quickly as they could. The daily menu was very good value and everything we chose from it was perfectly cooked including my Bavette which I asked for bleu and it duly came bleu which is not often the case. It is very good value for money. 3 courses , a large and two medium glasses of wine and two coffees for about £60.00. What's not to like?
Delicious food with lots of choice. Could have done with more food on the asparagus and scallops starter for the price however the main was plentiful and more than made up for it. Didn’t have a pudding. Service very efficient. Nice touch of the call back a day before. We had a lovely time and wouldn’t hesitate to book again. If you have larger party - we had six - ask to sit in back room with views over Avon and the weir.
Delicious food combinations, that were seasonal. Good selections of quality wines with a knowledgable waiter. The waiting staff were attentive and made me feel special. I love this little French restaurant. You need to book to be sure of a table.
We had the fixed price lunch menu - all courses were excellent. Mullet with samphire was beautifully cooked and delicious.
Wonderful food and service. Lovely place. Well worth a visit.
Lovely atmosphere & food. Service was friendly, efficient & jolly. Would definitely recommend!
The service at Chez Dominique was excellent and the food was delicious. We had a very enjoyable 30th wedding anniversary meal which was as special as the occasion.
for the price of the food expected proper serviettes.
Excellent as always - authentic cuisine , brilliant for pre theatre menu Fixe but also a la carte.
Have visited several times and always consistently great
True French style restaurant with delicious food, great ambience and excellent wines. The service was outstanding and we shall return.
We really enjoyed our meal at Chez Dominique. The dishes used fresh, seasonal ingredients and were either simple, French classics or variations. Looking at how busy the restaurant was and the number of regular customers it was obvious the food is reliable and consistent. We will definitely return to Chez Dominique if we visit Bath again.
Good well-presented French inspired food and sensible wine list. Wines by the glass. Friendly waiting staff. Sensibly priced. We will return. Thank you.
We've been here a number of times. Never failed to enjoy the experience. Everything is good and reliably so. The service, the food, and the prix fixe menu is super value . Plus a good wine list and some interesting beers. Make sure you book! it is a popular place.
Fantastic food and very friendly service! I would definitely recommend Chez Dominique
Very good food & drink, brought to our table by charming staff.
We were delayed getting there, but the host graciously kept our reservation. The food was delicious and the service was efficient and friendly. The steak was tasty and the frites crispy. We were surprised at the reasonable prices for the quality.
We read the review in The Good Food Guide and were particularly encouraged by the mention of Simon Hopkinson’s influence on the food at Chez Dominique. We were not dissapointed and had a wonderful meal ( including a delicious Chateau Briand ). The service was good and it was pleasing that on a Monday evening the restaurant was virtually full and buzzy! On our next visit to Bath we will certainly return and sample more of Chez D’s culinary delights!
Amazing Evening! The most amazing Lamb dish... Just perfect.
Food was good but the service was too slow. It is a pity the glasses of wine were not fresh enough so, middle of the dinner they were very warm.
