We had to wait well over an hour for our meal which when it arrived wasn't particularly good. The kitchen obviously couldn't cope with the volume of customers - waiting staff were literally running along the corridor from the kitchen to the dining room.
Our bottle of wine was deducted from the bill because of the poor service but we will not be eating here again or recommending it to anyone else either
Great little restaurant and a favourite for lunchtime
Chez Dominique never fails to delight. Superb food, great service (Julien the Head waiter is wonderful), nice ambience (modern French bistro style with wooden tables, candles and unusual candelabras) and a good wine list. By fluke my mother and I decided to have lunch at Chez Dominique in its first week of opening (we were walking past and thought the menu looked interesting) - and we have kept going back. It has been a delight to see this local, family run restaurant deservedly growing from strength to strength. Owned by Sarah and Chris (Sarah was behind the bar on Friday night and Chris is the maestro in the kitchen), the restaurant is named after their eldest child. The food is modern French but uses excellent local ingredients. Chris has worked in many major restaurants (such as Bibendum in London and Bowood House in Wiltshire) and is a very talented chef. This restaurant is worth a special trip.
Excellent value lunch menu, with friendly attentive service. The Butternut Squash and Parmesan soup was really tasty!
A pleasure to eat here: French/European cuisine, imaginative menu, friendly service and pleasant ambiance. The fixed price menu, available before 7.00pm is very good value. We particularly enjoyed the fish options. Some reasonably priced wines for a restaurant in the City Centre.
We had another fantastic Sunday Lunch at Chez Dominique. The 3 course menu is such great value and the food is absolutely superb. Jordan always provides amazing service and makes the experience all the more enjoyable. One of the best restaurants in Bath in our opinion!
Unfortunately I let them know I was celebrating a birthday and I received an unwelcome kiss on my cheek. I was not asked if this was OK first and if so, I would have refused. Service was slow, main course of pasta was dry and unexciting and in the end I had to go to the bar to pay
Booked for friends dinner ,pre cinema. Prompt ,friendly ,attentive service, the food was wonderful , lovely combination of flavours, well presented and good price . We have made 2 further group bookings for pre theatre .
A lovely little gem
Delicious lunch, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Will be back . Good value for money lunch.
We enjoyed every course, from starters to desserts, including the wine. The ingredients were fresh and everything was cooked to perfection, such as the pork belly and the peppered venison starters and the aged beef and the roast lamb main courses.
Excellent food, went here with friends, most of us had the steak which we all agreed was the best we had had in a long time. Great ambience, but book early to get the reservation you want!
Incredibly good value, at least for the prix fixe menu. High quality and very tasty food - the soup was especially delicious as was the chocolate mousse - and a warm welcome and unpretentious service. We would definitely go back.
A pleasant straightforward French restaurant. We enjoyed our meal, which was consistently well realised, and the location is very handy too. The experience, however, could arguably do with a touch more finesse. Service is no more than satisfactory, and the wine list was surprisingly perfunctory (and surprisingly un-French too).
Very good food, excellent service. Was like being in France. Will be back.
Great restaurant and excellent service , enjoyed a lot and one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Bath
Lovely, from beginning to end. We booked an early table in order to take advantage of the prix fixe menu, so were not expecting such a welcoming atmosphere. The host and all the staff were very attentive, but didn't get in the way. We were in the back room, but there were fairy lights and lovely fresh (non fragrant) flowers on the table - it was all delightful. And the food was delicious, and good value compared to where we'd eaten the night before... in fact, compared to anywhere... I will book a table there again whenever I get the chance to go back to Bath. Thank you.
Saturday lunch for 4. Excellent food .Great location. Excellent service. Great find in Bath . We will definitely be coming back next time we are in Bath.
Wonderful food and the every day we t menu is amazing value. Also best Sunday lunch in Bath.
Wonderful lunch, lovely set menu. Good value & excellent service . Would highly recommend.
Our second visit and really enjoyed our roast beef dinner with very tender beef.
WE BOTH OPTED FOR THE SAME PRIX FIXE SATURDAY LUNCH MENU.
THE CELERIAC & APPLE SOUP,FOLLOWED BY HADDOCK AND ICE CREAM.
THE 3 COURSES WERE BEAUTIFULLY COOKED & ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS.
THE ONLY COMPLAINT WAS THAT THE SERVICE BETWEEN COURSES WAS A LITTLE SLOW BUT BEING SATURDAY WE WERE NOT UNDER ANY UNDUE TIME PRESSURE.THE STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND THE AMBIANCE VERY AGREEABLE.
IT WAS OUR SECOND VISIT-WE ARE NOT BATH RESIDENTS-BUT WE SHALL SURELY RETURN VERY SOON.
Staff are extremely friendly and efficient, food is delicious and it's in a great location. Will definitely visit again.
We ate early and had the prixe fixe menu which is amazing value. Food is simply delicious, service brilliant, atmosphere perfect - we couldn’t fault it and would recommend to anyone especially at the discounted price that eating early gave us!
What a gorgeous little restaurant. I cannot recommend this place enough. The food was gorgeous, the ambience and restaurant itself was cosy, lively and welcoming and the staff were authentic and genuinely interested in us as people.
I had the pork belly starter and steak for main, my husband the venison starter and steak for main. Perfectly prepared, cooked and presented it was delicious. And the French proprietor who shared a glass of his pear liqueur (and the recipe) at the end of our meal topped off the night.
Recommended by the owner of our hotel on an overnight stay in Bath, Chez Dominique was an excellent choice. Dined early evening on the prix fixe menu. Our main courses were hake and the onglet steak, the latter being particularly good. Excellent Rioja. Lovely welcome and attentive service. Enjoyable atmosphere and great value. Would definitely go back.
Super food and great service.
well worth a visit!
The service was excellent. The waiters were very knowledgeable and their recommendations for dishes, as well as wine were spot on. There were books and colouring in to amuse our 4 year old. The food was superb. It’s a wonderful restaurant and I’d recommend it to anyone.
Lovely food, great flavours & textures. A great find!
Lovely, pint-sized, atmospheric french/british bistro near Pulteney Bridge. Sunday lunch for mother's day was delicious and catered well for my gluten-free daughter. There's a nice private room out back overlooking the weir for larger parties. We will be back.
An excellent early evening meal on our first day in Bath
To quote my wife, "this is possibly the best steak I have ever eaten". Lovely starters, rich and delicious deserts bookended a really good meal. First night out in a while after having our first child and was really happy we choose here. Did not disappoint
Nice place, good food and service.
We have been many times and its always been a good experience.
See you again.
I was expecting more and for £45 for two with wine we were disappointed
The starter was poor ( mackerel on toast) and beef average and on the small side. A bit of lettuce and French fries was mean and some typically French veg e.g. Green beans would be preferable.Too much stodge really and small portions. Wine was ok and staff very pleasant.
There are other similar restaurants in Bath so things have to improve for me to go back.
We had a fantastic evening. The ambience is very good. I often go to restaurants in Bath and think I could cook this at home for a fraction of the price. Not so at Chez Dominque. The food was excellent. and the service was exceptional, laid back and calm but very solicitious.
A great neighbourhood restaurant close to town but out of the tourist trap. Great for a Sunday night dinner. Customer service is friendly if slightly forgetful
Lovely food, friendly staff. Had a great birthday dinner! set menu was good value! Would return again!
Had a great meal and Chez Dominique! Low key but well cooked, delicious food. The chateaubriand was incredible and great value. The service was friendly and welcoming. Catered well to food intolerances and complimentary champagne because it was a birthday - lovely touch!
The food and service were excellent, as they have been on every other visit.
A lovely meal out for a special romantic date...
Attentive & informative service, we went on the lovely Maitre D's recommendation for the meal
& the wine, and they were perfect!
