Chicago Rib Shack - Aldgate East
Great brunch - staff were very welcoming and efficient. One of the best prosecco brunches I’ve experienced
Honestly the most disgusting veggie burger I’ve ever eaten. Staff were lovely though!!
The food was good, however we felt really rushed! We were approached to order three times without having a chance to look at the menu. When we did order we’d only been sat down for 5 minutes! Felt like they wanted us out as soon as possible despite it only being 8pm, which we didn’t feel was too late!
We went as a group of 4, and we all said Food was ok, and reasonable enough prices, but what we found disappointing was that they had no onion loaf left when we tried to order it with out main courses. Would I recommend it, yes if you like ribs they were good, but if you remember the original rib shack restaurant in Knightsbridge and are hoping this is going to be similar, unfortunately you will be disappointed !
Food is awesome...Beef Ribs, meat just falls off the bone. Waiter seemed very busy so did not ask us if we wanted desserts etc. but overall great service. Have been here before and will come again!! :)
Good food in a nice modern setting. The restaurant can be quite quiet at weekends. The ribs and burgers are really good and their thick shakes are also great.
Really tasty food! Cheap cocktails! Just think the service could be a tad more cheeerful! Otherwise worth a visit! We had beef rib and gravy chip - pulled pork burger!
The Groupon menu was shockingly lacking. Not impressed, If you have to have an alternative menu make your options clear on the Groupon Website!!
Nice food but pricey for what it is. Staff were lovely
Nice location. Had to wait extra long for Mac and Chesse so I had almost finished my meal by the time it came. That was the only downside to restaurant
Fun night it’s was just my rib was cold but I’d go back
Great food - good price, not our usual area
Pure class. The food was excellent. The pale ale was divine.
Superb meal. Possibly the best burgers I have ever tasted. The staff were friendly and helpful. They made our meal feel stress-free despite having my hyperactive toddler with us. I really can’t fault this place at all, they took such good care of us and the value for money was just incredible.
Service and food were good but the restaurant was quiet on a Friday evening and a little lacking in atmosphere. Unfortunately it was also baking hot which made the eating experience uncomfortable. Please think about some kind of air conditioning.
The service was terrible. I tried to take advantage of the student discount that Chicago rib shack offers on their website but I was told it would it would only be applied to what ordered instead of the food bill as it states on the website. When the bill came the discount wasn't applied to the bill at all. I ordered an espresso martini which took 30 mins to arrive, the coffee machine was faulty but whatever they used as a substitute didn't work because it was vile and didn't taste or look like it included the ingredients stated on the menu. At 8 pounds this was an absolute rip off.
Very disappointing experience. I was expecting a vibrant "Rib joint" but it was quiet and unwelcoming. The Baby Rack ribs which I would have imagined was their main dish were very tough with not enough meat on. Drinks were limited, which could have been caused by the CO2 shortage, but there was no explanation.
Poor service, found the waitress quite rude and flippant. We came for a Groupon deal (bottomless brunch) however at one point it took 15 minutes for a refill (orange juice and prosecco). We were then told we were going to be served our final drink despite having 15 minutes left. In the end they served us 2 drinks to compensate but I would not recommend this restaurant. I have been to the Clapham venue and it is much better.
We went for the a girly catch up very casual atmosphere. Although we sat outside and this is probably why the service was a little low
Had a living social voucher so price wise for 3 course set menu and drink for 2 people on a Saturday £34 was very reasonable. Only thing lacked was that extra oumphhh I thought it may have after reading it's website. Wasn't busy but still a little slow serving. Maybe it was the weather (very hot evening ) but worth second visit
The rib was tasteless and too dried, not I would expect. Worst was we found a hair on one piece of our rib. But they only replaced one piece and didn’t offer any apology or anything in replacement.
Food was average - lacked seasoning and for the price it was not that good. Put it that way. I would not return here
Fantastic food great service would happily recommend this restaurant to anyone you can thank me later
I had a reservation for Chicago Rib Shack on Saturday May 5th with six other people. I checked our their website and saw they offered bottomless brunch. I then emailed the restaurant about the bottomless brunch and they said that there is a promotion they are going to do where it would cost £25 for a meal and bottomless brunch but that I could bring my student id and get 20% off my food meal and then pay £15 separately for bottomless. I said that is wonderful and I reserved a table and brought six of my friends. We got there and the waitress said that the restaurant doesn’t offer bottomless brunch for 4 months out of the year and said that they wouldn’t officially offer it again until next weekend (even though the menu she brought over said “bottomless brunch - £15). At that point, my entire group and I left and took our business elsewhere. I am EXTREMELY disappointed especially since the restaurant confirmed they had bottomless brunch via email and their online menu. I do not recommend going here.
FAntastic food. Great service Good cocktails. Burgers and ribs unbelievable.
Best ribs I have had in a long time. Get the meat platter to share! You wont be disappointed!
We really miss the Rib Shack of the 80s and would love the gang to recreate it with authenticity - alas this is not it. Granted it was an afternoon but it fell short in almost everything. The staff are great if a little short handed. The ribs were dry. There was no hot BBQ sauce in a boat to poor over them. Onion loaf was just short of being burnt and was too dry to enjoy. No bibs, no toothpicks, no atmosphere! Come on guys - pay proper homage to this institution of fun and mess or change the name and call it USA Diner...........
I've been a few times before and both the service and food at this restaurant have been fine, but on this occasion, it was clear that something had changed. I had reserved a table, but upon arrival we were casually told there wasn't one available and we were asked to sit at the bar. No apologies were given. There appeared to be a problem with the ventilation of smoke from the kitchen (which is open to the restaurant), as the there was a definite haze of smoke across the restaurant. To try to aid ventilation, the staff had left the outside door open, which made the restaurant rather cold. After waiting for service at the bar for 10 minutes, it was clear there was a staffing shortage and that we wouldn't be served for quite some time, so we left.
Delicious food, fast and efficient service. Definitely looking forward to going back
The food was awful, especially the "dirty fries" they were glorified thin PFC chips with a splash of watery gravy and grated mild cheese. they were also cold when they come out. The waiters were rude and all in all we had an awful experience. we would not recommend.
Best ribs in the area!
The service was good as were the drinks, however the food dissapointing in my opinion. Rib shack with VERY mediocre ribs, it's no competition of Bodeans.
Unfortunately i didn't have a great experience in this restaurant. I must say the one good point was that as i am Wheat and Dairy intolerant Ali the manager did clearly write on my menu what i could and could not have which i appreciated very much.
I came with my boyfriend celebrating a milestone and we ordered a full rack of beef ribs but it was awfully disappointing. I had one bite and didn't eat the rest as i felt sick straight after. Personally the quality of the meat i found was awful as it was extremely fatty and i could not eat it, also i expected it to look more like ribs but it was just a chunk of meat over one bone which was very off. We did not like it at all and really struggled to have the meal.
I appreciate this may just be a personal opinion but as it was my first time at the restaurant i do not intend on returning unfortunately due to the experience i had.
We opted for the Wing promotion as part of our meal. Disappointed with size of wings and the ‘hot’ wings lacked in flavour. Overall food wasn’t too bad and did not make me as thirsty as other American meals.
The portion sizes were reasonable.
The location is easy to locate, service is good and there are lot of meat!!
My family dined at Chicago Ribs Aldgate East on a Wednesday evening. The décor of the dining room was welcoming. The service was good. Unfortunately, we were disappointed that both the beef and lamb ribs were sold out (it was not busy at all and we wanted to try them both). The food we had (baby back pork ribs, spicy chicken wings, St. Louis pork rib, Cajun Cod ..) were fine. Better planning from the restaurant would have avoided this kind of disappointment which inevitably ruined our overall experience.
Booked for Mother's Day...we got there slightly late, but the staff were very understanding & accomodating. Food & service were great also...kids thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant, and I would definitely there again.
We had a really nice time! Food and atmosphere great!! Staff couldnt do enough for us! And we had a groupon voucher! Service as it should be! Thank u!
The staff were so friendly and welcoming, even though we were late.
Food was very good and good value and we would definitely come back here for that. However although we have specifically requested that we are located at a corner table with space for pram upon arrival we were asked to fold the pram and put the carry cot on the seat, which was completely unnecessary as the restaurant was not even busy, there's hardly any patrons on the night and there were plenty of space for us to park the pram. Unfortunately the waiter who served us insisted that we cannot bring the pram in without being folded and this was really frustrating as it causes inconvenience for us. We would've understand if it was a fully booked night but the place was only 30% full.
