Chicago Rib Shack - Clapham
Sunday 10:00 - 22:30
Our waiter was super friendly and very accommodating.
I made a reservation a few weeks back for my birthday celebration and mine and my partners 9 year anniversary. We travelled from Ramsgate in Kent and were so excited to eat here. Our experience started well, with the waiter promptly taking our drinks order, and the restaurant looks so lovely too. Food came out very quickly, but unfortunately this is where the good stuff ends.
We had cajun loaded fries, the Christmas burger, philly cheese steak loaded fries, the double shack burger and some mac and cheese. The chips were cold and sparse. The mac and cheese was delicious but again, cold. The pulled pork in my Christmas burger was fridge temp with lukewarm toppings placed on top.
All i can say is im glad i had my tastecard to discount the price. The food wasnt badly tasting, just cold. There was no mention of my birthday, or our anniversary, and i wouldnt mind so much about the above if it was busy, but there were us and one couple in there.
Such a shame.
Very good and friendly service and food came out very quickly
We Booked and were excited celebrating my Daughters Birthday because we always love the food especially the Ribs and go to the Westfield one as we were running late I contacted the restaurant to say we were running late and was told that was fine when we got to the Clapham branch after being comfortably seated we noticed it was quite sparse but thought nothing of it we beckoned over our waiter and started to order only to be told they had no ribs as we had traveled so far this wasn’t funny the waiter said that they had just finished but then the manager came over and said they had contacted people throughput the day and I said I hadn’t been contacted neither by phone or email ( considering they had both my number and email address) he came across rude when I said this I even said that when I rang to say we were running late even then this was not mentioned. I then realised that’s why it was so sparse there was another group that was there and they too were celebrating a birthday and said they weren’t contacted either suffice it to say we left and went home unhappy after travelling from Croydon
Loved this restaurant such a great find with tasty ribs and comfort food! Perfect for group bookings and dates. Was celebrating my partners birthday and the service and food was great!
great food at Chicago Rib shack in Clapham. Fun starters, amazing ribs for mains and deep fried Oreo for dessert - strangely amazing! the setting is really cool under the train track and staff were attentive.
First time that the service was quite that bad. Sunday lunchtime- not incredibly busy or anything. No service for 20 minutes after getting the menus. Ordered food and pre meal cocktails at the same time. Food came before the cocktails! Kind of defeats the purpose. Wine list took another 5 and wine itself another 10 minutes to arrive (so basically by the end of the meal). Fries were delivered stone cold. The quality of the food was good but the whole meal ruined by the slow and erratic service.
It was really good. The meat on the ribs literally fell off the bone, the atmosphere and mood was amazing. And the service topped it all off.
Went to Chicago Rib Shack for my fiance's birthday. They had run out of baby back ribs and ice cream for the Coke float which was a shame, but they offered a good substitute and the ribs we did have were fantastic. Particularly recommend the beef ribs with their special sauce! Waitress was very helpful and even kept hold of a birthday gift we accidentally left behind, until we could pick it up the following day. Not the cheapest place in the world but very good ribs!!
We eat quite regularly at this restaurant and it never disappoints...If you are a foodie and love American style food I highly recommend it. The staff are always pleasant and food is always on point! X
We waited 25min for a simple drinks order and it wasn't even busy. There were 3 servers, and the table next to us stay uncleared for 30min after the customers left. Disappointed
I booked via OpenTable and the table was cleared and made ready 5 minutes before the reservation time. I had to wait for my partner to arrive and whilst waiting I was asked if I wanted a drink. But unfortunately this good start didn’t last.
We ordered a starter to share. When brought to our table the waiter asked if we wanted anything else. I pointed out that we didn’t have plates so could we have two plates. But immediately he left our table he was called over by another table and it became apparent he’d forgotten our plates. I had to ask another member of staff and we got our plates.
The spicy chicken wings were nice and apicy and we had six as our starter.
Ordered ribs for the main, one with fries and one with coleslaw. The coleslaw was a good size portion but the fries were awful. Pre-made french fries but even McDonalds fries are better (not saying much). The rib meat was a bit dry. Had better ribs from Lidl’s!
Shared a cheesecake for dessert. Glad we shared as it would probably have been too much for one as it was quite a dense consistency and could have been half the thickness.
Ordered a bottle of wine (which cost £32!). But what was worse was someone openly drinking fruit juice from a carton they brought with them. No one asked the customer not to. If I’d have known I would have bought my own wine (but I bet I wouldn’t have been allowed). This does nothing for the company.
I’d be surprised if the establishment lasts another year.
Really enjoyed our meal here. The ribs were good, but the highlights were the pork spring rolls and the wings. So good! They have various offers available if you know where to look, which makes the meal extremely good value.
No shakes? I mean how does an American dining place not have shakes, the one thing we came for.
The ribs had clearly been precooked prior to ordering, staff don’t really care about their job
Beef rib and the potato fries was super delicious. The Oreo shake was spot on.
Location was great and it’s a nice little place, but food was overpriced and served cold. Service was slow and surprisingly rude. I was told by a bored and annoyed waitress that I was not allowed to ask for my steak to come without fries, and they got our order wrong twice. Glad we tried it but won’t be going back.
Service was slow it took them 6 minutes to ask what we would like to drink. Our server look like she needed to sleep, she got our order wrong, there was no attention to detail. It felt quite slap dash. We was really excited about going here to eat but left disappointed. Food was from the freezer and not fresh maybe you should have more customer training and how to provide fresh food.
Expected a fun, cosy environment it was more like a fast food restaurant so didn’t have the environment I expected
They have changed the menu for the worse. There signature dishes have all been cost reduced . The onion loaf is a cow pat of soggy fatty battered onion... not the crisps loaf shape it used to be. The ribs are cheaper, tougher and less marinated. The prices on the bill differ to the prices on the menu. The service was slow and the waitress just didnt care. They automatically add service. On complaining about the service and food, they kept the service on the bill. Not good. We have been coming to Chicago Rib Shack for years and this is the last time.
Food was really good, but there a few things not available on the menu. The waitress was super helpful, but not attentive (we had to always signal for her to come over).
Booked for 7 people. No table to accommodate 7 so had to add tables to a booth which was uncomfortable.
Place wasn’t busy but service was extremely slow, we had to ask to order drinks and food.
Wasn’t asked how we wanted the steak cooked, came out medium rare but very tough... almost impossible to cut and chew.
Ribs were average... certainly not something to pride themselves on. The M&S packet ribs you put in the oven at home are better.
Over priced burgers and food in general.
Wouldn’t go back
Lovely food, really enjoyed it, would definitely go again.
We went there to celebrate a birthday. We ordered wings for starter which were ok. Nothing spectacular. The main was baby back ribs. They changed their menu so the ribs are different to how they use to be. It is not to my liking. It taste like they have added some sort of spice to the ribs. They do not taste american now to me. We were disappointed . The oreo dessert was also not to my liking. It taste like dumpling. They brought icecream we did not order but told us we wouldnt be charged to later charging us for it. Overall very disappointed.
The food was barely like warm and the chips and gravy was stone cold and soggy. Ribs was nice and fell off the bone but would of been a lot nicer if they were hot!
Great food and really friendly service as ever. The only reason it's not a higher rating is because our waitress spoke not a word of English and had to literally copy our order from us pointing to the menu. Also, the bar seemed quite backed up so our drinks arrived after our food. But we still love CRS!
We went for brunch had the waffle and chicken, the waffle was just warm and the chicken was ok if it wasnt for the gravy the whole thing would have been too dry.
The onion loaf was good but a little over cooked and its half the size of how it use to be when I use to go to the Knightsbridg branch.
The other thing was we had a tastecard which on the tastecard website is clear can be used on a sunday however we were told it was not accepted on sundays.
Wings were nice and flavoursome but the ribs were dry and not much meat on them. Service good and prices not too bad
Good quality steaks and ribs; friendly staff; pleasant white wine; a bit too much pepper mixed with the nachos; we will come back again
Our all time fave
Love CRS. Great food, friendly service.
Excellent service, food was great, mains portions are good, side small but enough. Highly recommended
Went for Father’s Day it was nice and my Dad enjoyed it. Food was amazing and service was decent.
Really nice food
We wanted somewhere relaxed and different for a family get together. Chicago Rib Shack certainly delivered. We were well looked after by the staff. The food was great and plentiful, good quality meat. Cocktails were a great addition. I’d definitely recommend this venue for a fun place to eat.
Excellent ribs and wings. Possibly the best mac and cheese I’ve ever had. Highly recommended.
Always enjoy good food & friendly service at CRS. The new menu is delicious!
Met up with some friends, arrived on time but one friend was running late so we sat and had some drinks. The staff didn’t seem pushy at all which was nice. The food came in good time and I wasn’t impressed. Ribs were dry and chewy. The coleslaw was decent. As we sat after our main a MOUSE ran along our booth. After we ran from our booth to avoid the mouse a woman who I presume to be the manager came over and her reaction was very annoying. She acted as though she’s shocked and almost didn’t believe us until I pointed out the man in the booth next to us saw it too! The staff seemed to avoid us from that point and didn’t come over. We had to flag one down for our bill. The bill came and they had not given a discount for Stuart Little running across my table mid meal. Then again another manager came over when it became apparent we had no intention of paying the full bill and offered us £14 off our £110 meal. Absolutely shocking. I would of expected our drinks at least to be removed as a good will gesture. Wouldn’t dine nor recommend!
Visited for my birthday and all was great. Food was amazing and came out very quickly. Great service (thank you to the new waitor). Will be back soon
Food was great! Drinks were overpriced. Service was poor.
Recommend more for a take out. Food was excellent.
Great ambience, good food but service needs improvement. Staff appeared unhappy and hassled
