Drinks were delicious ! The ambience is really lovely, especially the outdoor area. The food was nice but somewhat underwhelming
What a delight to eat at Chicama. We took the family today to celebrate our Mother's day and it was simply outstanding. Being from the South American continent, we're quite fond of the flavors and find it extremely hard to find a good genuine and inventive Peruvian cook close to our place in London, as most of the good stuff is in Soho and East London. Chicama most definitely delivers on proximity, inventiveness and quality.
Service was fantastic, very friendly and helpful with suggestions for the kids - they were very patient considering we have 3 small kids who were clearly over-excited to be out dining.
The atmosphere was cheerful and they had loud music (we love it, our kids are quite loud so at least no one was bothered by them) -some fun 80's greatest dance hits was on, and we had a blast with it.
Food was absolutely and unequivocally phenomenal. We had:
- Seabass Ceviche (A-)
- Tuna Sashimi (B+)
- Chargrilled Aubergine (A+)
- Tapioca Marshmellow (A++) - ordered twice by the kids
- Popped corn monkfish (A-) - also reordered by the kids
- Grilled Caulflower (A-)
- Chargrilled Squid (A++)
- Miso cured Seabass (A-)
- Padrón Peppers (B-) - just overpriced for what they are, it was the only non-creative dish we had... probably our fault for ordering a boring staple dish.
The star of the dinner was most definitely the Squid (for both grownups and kids) and the Marshmellow was an absolute hit with the kids.
And then for desert:
- Coconut ice cream (A-)
- Piura Porcelana (B+)
- Banana & Yuzu ice cream (A+++)
That was a great closing. We will come back for more!
Wine selection was the only "not great" mark / we tend to prefer Spanish white wines with our seafood / they had a good supply of Argentine and Chilean whites which are not our favorites.
We settled for a nice bottle of Albariño and were content with it, but would suggest they expand the wine selection.
This was an outstanding meal. the food which creative, well balanced and delicious - there wasn’t a single dish that disappointed. Definitely try the sea bass cerviche. Everything was well thought out, from the classy decor, to the plentiful heating and attentive service. Definitely one of my top meals out!
Friends birthday had lovely lunch
Great covered outdoor dining with great, unique food.
The food and ambience was very good and so was the service. However we felt extremely rushed by the waiter and couldn’t enjoy to the fullest extent.
Hard to write a review as such as we are coming our of lock down so trying to be fair. We were somewhat squashed onto a small table (4 of us on tables also used for 2). I get space is a premium but made for an uncomfortable experience. Waiter spilled a whole glass of wine over the table and 2 of us with a bare apology. So we were pretty wet for the meal. Wine also went over a gift I had brought for my friend. Food was mixed. Some had flavour (octopus and beignets and sweetcorn pancake) other food lacked any real depth of flavour.
The food was great! Had the courgette beignets which are divine! The salmon poke is possibly the best poke combination I have ever had (ordered it for delivery the next day!) and the whole fish was so yummy with the whole plantain (a must try!)
The tapioca was not my favourite, strange texture in my mouth, but my friend loved it.
The ONE issue has to be the service, a little slow, you have to constantly grab someone's attention, and the waiter spilled my drink and cleaned it WITH HIS HANDS! I found that so careless during a pandemic!
A good experience sans the maybe green reopening errors.
It was just perfect!! A lovely experience 🤍
I recommend lunch menu to share ! Delicious
Not sure I want to encourage too many people to discover this fab place at present otherwise I’ll never manage to rebook! Great ambiance and clever use of outside space. On a chilly night I didn’t need my coat. Super fast service and yummy food. My only minor complaint was the size of the Pisco sours which were rather small although delicious. Really fun evening there and managed to feel we were back to normality. Well done to the staff!!
Was lovely, food was great. Look forward to returning inside or outside in the summer!
It was my birthday and we had a wonderful meal. We are thrilled to have discovered Chicama and will be going back again. The food was so full of flavour, the seafood incredibly fresh and well cooked. And the wine was lovely too. Overall, a great experience.
The food was exquisite and the atmosphere was great. The cocktails were a but small but delicious.
Lovely lunch - it was everything we hoped it would be - great food - we went for the taster menu which was very good value - we sat outside but under cover and with heaters, so really comfortable despite being a colder, drizzly day. Would definitely recommend it.
Great food🤤 tasting menu worth it and took the stress out of ordering
Fantastic as always , super fresh and tasty food and a tentative service.
Food was excellent but the fact that you have to eat a degustation menu in 1.5 hours is rather annoying and does not justify the value for money.
I would suggest to have a 15 min break between bookings so you dont have to kick your clients out while they are still finishing their food.
Really enjoyed the food and ambience of this beautiful spot. The service was a tad slow but no complaints when the sun is out!
Always a fantastic meal, the staff are so friendly and attentive and the food is wonderful as always. The only reason I give 4 stars this time is because I felt rushed out. The bookings are only for 1.5hours which isn't long enough, especially when it's a moderately expensive restaurant. I would have liked to have more time to order another bottle of wine and have some deserts.
Really enjoyed our tasting menu, food was delicious and the cocktails were excellent.
Overall it was very good. The waiters are very polite and the outdoor area is lovely.
We had a situation with the seabream we ordered. It smelled too fishy, so we kindly asked to change it. We even felt the fishy smell as it was coming to our table, it was strong. The manager came to us to explain to us it smelled like that because it was a fish and that is how fish smells. I found this comment very offensive. Of course I know how fish smells and I go to Chicama very often and this never happened before.
They changed it and it was all good. I remark this because the fish was not the problem but the manager coming to us in a defensive/attack mode was rude.
Good meal at Chicama. We are lunch regulars and it never dissappoints!
Food was amazing and worth the effort to get there. Service was not the best as I think they were short staffed. Not sure but it took ages to order and get our bill. Otherwise could not fault the rest of the dining experience. Great value for money for lunch set price.
excellent tasting menu. we would highly recommend it.
One of the best dining experiences in London in my opinion. Intimate but great vibes and delicious food x
Found this restaurant by chance and it was amazing. Highly recommend. Lovely food, lovely ambience.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was good.
Great stuff for sharing !! Sea food is really good and I think it’s good value
An amazing meal, couldn’t fault the food or the staff. Will definitely be recommending to others!
Super cute place, nice staff. We only had a couple of snacks, but the courgette was insanely salty, was very hungry so ate it anyway, as the kitchen was closed already, the prawn toast was ok. Overall a very nice place, would come back to try some seafood, no to the salty courgette though...
Great food and ambience. Service could be improved
Great service, delicious food and a really cool atmosphere. So good to be back at one of our favourite restaurants
Fabulous tasting menu, really enjoyed our first dining experience post-COVID. The service was very average but the dishes arrived at a good pace. Props to the bartender for making us excellent mezcal margaritas and New York sours.
Unreal food, wonderful service, it was our waiters first day in the job and he was brilliant
Booked it for my bf's birthday as I love the sister restaurant Pachamama. I've mentioned in a booking that it's a birthday occasion and asked for some bday dessert (obviously ready to pay for). We arrived and staff was stressed, table wasn't ready. We sat at teh wrist table in the middle and under lots of plants. We were waiting for our order to be taken for over 10 minutes. Throughout the service east great at all. Obviously, they haven't done the bday dessert I asked for. which was not the biggest issue but they could've told me in advance that it's not realistic.
Food came fast and was decent, however overall value is quite poor for. Neat £90 we paid.
Such a shame as Pachamama is a brilliant place!
We are always happy with our visit to a chicama. Delicious food in a great ambiance!
I love Chicama, fantastic food great service and always fun.
Delicious food and great service, highly recommended
